Anna Murphy, the former female vocalist, also used to play the hurdy-gurdy in Eluveitie. The hurdy-gurdy is the instrument with a hand crank on its side. She and two other musicians left Eluveitie a few years ago to form another band called Cellar Darling - mixture of gothic, folk, doom and progressive metal) in which she also plays other instruments. Fabienne also formed with some of the Eluveitie´s members a band called Illumishade - metal with elements of electronic music.
Eluveitie, what can I say about them. This band is simply unique. I love whole discography of this band so also the older work with their previous singer Anna. But my prefenece goes Eluveitie with Fabienne (or just Fabi). Since Fabi joined the band, they were getting more harsh and more metal without loosing their typical folk sound! And this song is just a bloody masterpiece! I was in tears when the release was feom this song/video and chills down the spine! Thank you for doing this one!! Greetings from the Netherlands 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yay! I'm so happy Eluveitie is back with such powerful stuff. Just love it! As for "Viking" music, have you listened to Wardruna? If not, it's an absolute must!
@@enterthecronic I suggest you start with Wardruna and Aurora: Helvegen live filmed at Bergenhus on August 22, 2018. Also, check out Faun feat Einar/Wardruna: Odin live . And then do anything Einar has done in the Genre. Can't go wrong, really. Mind you: Einar used to be a Black Metal drummer. But his music is not metal.
Yesss! Looking forward to more Eluveitie. This new song is so good. I think King and Rebirth would be perfect to react to next imo.... Some of my other favourites are Helvetios, Quoth the raven, Call of the mountains, Bloodstained ground, Epona, Omnos and Havoc. Exciting liveband too, saw em 4 times now. Love your channel! Greetingz from the Netherlands \m/
Nice reaction! You liked this one so may I suggest 'Rebirth' (official music video) by them next. It's another banger! Also, a softer but still great sound with their previous singer (Anna), 'The Call Of The Mountains'. They recently did a collab with folk group Faun called 'Gwydion' which I think you'll like too.
If you would like folk metal a bit further towards the folk end, I'd like to recommend Dalriada (e.g., Betyár-altató which has English subtitles) and Korpiklaani (e.g., Henkselipoika, which doesn't but also doesn't need them).
@@enterthecronic Let me check tonight when I get home from work. I'll let you know back here.... what kind of signal tap are you getting the headphone line from (line level, instrument level, 'headphone' plug)? and what type of plugs on the headphones do you have (Apple's default thing... 3.1mm I think, or TRS or ??) LOL, if this gets too technical, we can figure out a way to exchange pics of the plugs/jacks, etc.
@@enterthecronic Hey, I thought I answered this 4 days back, but I think my work-computer timed out. Anyway I have a 4 channel headphone amp (AKG) which takes 1/4 inch inputs (2, in stereo) and has both 1/4 and 1/8 inch headphone jacks... not much use if you are using Apple earbuds, in guess (not an Apple guy, here). Do you know what our headphones' impedance is? If they are really low (8-20 ohms) then many headphone amps might possibly blow the headphones up... which is a sad day when it happens. (also pro-type in-ear-monitors (IEMs) usually need a specific type of amp... so darn many choices in the high-tech world. Anyway, My AKG would work for impedances from around 32 ohms and up, iirc.
I wonder how can I suggest a track. Because I have plenty of them. I really think you and your wife would enjoy "Forget Not" by Australian masters "Ne Obliviscaris"

That unique instrument that you see in this video is a Hurdy Gurdy.

100% agree with those suggestions, and would also add "A Rose for Epona"
Also the good lady would like the evocation II pantheon album.

Hey, did you ever get your headphone amp/splitter figured out?
I've got a spare over here, doing 'nothing'.
Not really…you have one?!?
