- TerminalMontage is working on a new series named "The Fruitless Quests of Nabiu" and I was lucky enough to help with an original song!
I listened to a bunch of songs from the 1990 version of the Moomins for inspiration, that soundtrack always motivates me and sounds super magical which is what I was looking for.

Always nice to hear the Harpsichord getting some use.
Damn, I love this. It really has that magical and whimsical vibe. It reminds me of something I would hear out of like a Studio Ghibli film, or even something like maybe Mr. Gimmick on the NES. Great job as usual my man. You can even say, "Yo, this song is really good!"

I love how happy and upbeat this song is, it really captures the feel of old 8bit songs, without any of the restrictions, and with more modern instruments
I'll be playing this on full volume next time I drive through the city with my windows pulled down, wearing my sunglasses.
One leitmotif reminded me of the Undertale shop theme, but this is definitely more of its own piece. I like it!

This music is making me feel super nostalgic for the old Acorn Archimedes games. It makes me think of the whimsical music from Simon the Sorcerer, which I think is insanely appropriate.

for some reason it's bringing me back memories of playing an old computer game called "sheep's quest"
If you told me this was the overworld first level / area theme to an already existing early 2000s game, about a little wizard who tries to do his best at creating the ultimate potion, while encountering multiple blunders and setbacks along the way... I would 100% believe you without a doubt.

Do you mind if I ask what VSTs you used in this? I'd love to play around with some of these sounds.
For the 8-bit sounds I used a soundfont called 8bit, I don't remember where I got it from and the name is super generic 😭
For the leads I used tbpeach mixed with flutes I took from a Roland MT32 soundfont.
The harpsichord is the default harpsichord sound in Sytrus (fl studio plugin) but I'm not the biggest fan of how it sounds in this one.
For the rest I used the Arachno soundfont.
