I’d like to offer you a new Sherlock adventure, called ‘Ghostly’.
- Tell me about that troublesome apparition. - Sherlock said, with a note of suspicion in his voice. There is no such thing as supernatural after all. A living breathing person is always the culprit.
- As you wish, sir! - squeaked the shorty, fiddling with the bowler hat. - I went downstairs, to the kitchen, for a spot of breakfast, as one does first thing in the…
- Yes, yes! - Sherlock waved his hand, hurrying the man up.
- Well, as I was putting the kettle on, there it was. Appeared straight from the wall, right next to the stove.
- What appeared?
- The ghost, sir!
- The ghost? - the detective sighed. - What did it look like?
All colour left the shorty’s face, and he drawled:
- White and shiny, with horrible, horrible wrinkled face and mad glowing eyes. I felt my soul leaving my body as a wailing sound escaped its dry cracked mouth.
Sherlock looked the man right in the eye.
- Did it say anything?
- No, sir.
- So what did it do?
- It pointed its long bony finger to the wall it came from. That wailing, sir, though, it shook me to my bones. I would have felt pity for the poor thing, if I hadn’t been dead scared!
- Yes, yes, you were very scared. What happened then?
- Then my wife called me from upstairs, and at that moment the ghost just…- the man’s trembling hands moved in a circle, -poof!
- Poof?
- Yes, sir.
Sherlock jumped to his feet and straitened his jacket.
- All right, let’s see this ghost then. Lead on!

As much as Sherlock hated to admit it, he found this case perplexing. It had everything he could ever want in a case. As he and John stood a few yards away from the crimes scene, he could’ve sworn he saw a silhouette in the first floor window. Tall, bulking figure, broad shoulders, short hair, and a puffy jacket that were only worn by common men who took pride in motorcycles. Definitely a male.
Just as fast as he saw the silhouette, it vanished without a trace. Sherlock took a deep sigh to calm his nerves. He couldn’t be seeing the victim of the crime. He saw the poor man on a slab in the morgue. Nonetheless, Sherlock took his first steps towards a new beginning on his outlook about the supernatural.
