Dear Santa..... Man this stove is exactly what I think would make a perfect stove/firepit combo. Flat pack, big enough to get a good size fire going to generate enough heat to burn not so tinder dry fuel. I really like this one. Thanks for sharing Mark.
This would serve all your needs for sure. Thanks for commenting Steve
If that’s all you need I suggest the pocogrill 239 (or huanbush knockoff)
Thank you for showing and commenting on this stove. This is a great stove or small fireplace! The low weight even for this 19 cm stove is an other advantage. You can bring it everywhere. If you place the bottom plate at the highest position you can place a X-Boil on top with using the windscreen/stovestand and have a cooking place at a conveniant height. With both stoves you are still way lighter than any other stove I know. This is amazing! Isn‘t it?
Extremely well designed stove for sure. Thanks for commenting
Thanks Mark. Looks like a winner; sort of reminds me of the Picogrill in functionality, if not in appearance.
I may do some comparison videos with the Picogrills. Thanks for commenting
Thanks for sharing, Mark. This is a well designed and well-made stove that could work well for a family or large group despite its compact size and light weight. Hopefully you'll share your cocoa recipe soon, as many will be looking for a treat like that for the holidays.
I will be sure to show how I make my keto cocoa hot drink. Thanks for commenting
Looks pretty cool! Mark gets 10 points for the use of the word "Crenellations". :)
I know lots of fancy words😅. Thanks for commenting
As I was watching this, I was thinking the stove definitely would make a great fire pit to keep you warm, I would imagine the windscreen could be used to redirect the heat towards you. Definitely a cool stove. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️
Controlling wind really helps with keeping warm. Thanks for commenting
Agreed, it reminded me of a compact and lightweight version of a Solo bonfire stove 😊
I guess you could have a third level for the fire plate if a person flipped it upside down. I know there are no notches for the pot stand. I really like this unit. I have seen it on some other channels. Thanks for the fair analysis and introduction to this nice product.
Yes, that is an option for using it as well. Thanks for commenting
I purchased this back in February ..Excellent stove and can double as a portable campfire pit
Right on. Thanks for commenting
Meal for 2 design. Iike that. Great video
Yes, this stove is plenty big enough for that. Thanks for commenting
Really simple stove. Hope those tabs will survive the long run. Looks like a great large burn area for the weight.
The way the tabs are folded inward they are vertical to the load on the fire grate and should be a their strongest. Time will tell. Thanks for commenting
I Could Go For 1 Of These Flat Pack Stoves ! Thanks For Your Demo Mark ! ATB T God Bless
So nice to carry and use. Thanks for commenting Terry
Didn’t know it till now. At first I thought it wouldn’t match up to the pico-grills, but in reality it’s actually much more versatile. The picogrill only outdoes this with simplicity of setup and packing, and its accessories which make grilling food possible. Honestly those hooked bars would make for fine skewers if they were food safe. And if need be, they could be used to secure the stove to the ground as pegs in the bottom holes (like people suggest it be done on the toaks stove, or the lixada tower stove). Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing the product
I am considering a comparison with the Picogrills. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft Hi Mark. It would be great if you could do some comparisons between the many stoves you have acquired (also between the other categories of gear- knives, cookware, flashlights). I recall your earlier videos in which you often did comparisons and offered some DIY low-cost options as well. Those were always so informative.
@@Addy-ft4psthat’s a great idea! There’s not many videos out there where people show their wood stove collection, but I love those! Show the stove, quick pros and cons, stats on screen or link to products, and summary at the end of the RUclipsrs’ favorites.
@@pedroclaro7822 yes, the comparative videos of gear and kit are very informative and really help you make choices that best fit your needs and budget. They are also fun to watch!
Yeah for Germany 🥰!
Thank you for this Video, Mark.
You got it! Thanks for commenting
Nice design and great performance. For homemade wood burning stoves, I prefer to use the large coffee cans because it's more difficult to overpack it, thereby reducing the airflow necessary for efficient combustion. This stove is a great choice, since it is large, well ventilated and very light. Your windscreen is probably heavier.
Thanks again, Mark! 👍
Truly, it is. Thanks for commenting
👍👍👍 .. nice.
Leo has taken an initial good design to the next level.
Used with a reflective windscreen, it should also make for a cosy winter warmer.
Protecting the underlying surface ..
I have the Bush Box LF in SS (IKEA-sourced Hobo Stoves too). In addition to a Carbon Cloth 'Flammschutzmatte', on especially sensitive surfaces, I place the stove into a suitably-sized container (Military Surplus Rectangular Mess Tin / Tatonka 18cm SS Bowl / Disposable Aluminium Pie Plate / whatever ..). A small amount of water in the bottom keeps any underlying surface nice and cool in addition to taking care of errant coals and embers. Easy peas 😁.
'Warping' ..
Any thin sheet of metal subjected to enough heat will warp. One should near in mind that these types of stoves are not thick-walled cast iron kitchen stoves. They are essentially 'twig / forest detritus' burners. Using them within their design intent should restrict warping to an acceptable level.
I have more than enough stores and burners (according to the 'other half' 😏) and thus currently, have no need for any of the X-Boil Products.
That said .. how I will feel about this tomorrow is something else ..
A good share Mark .. thanks. Take care ..
Christmas si coming. Maybe Santa will gift you one😉. Thanks for commenting
I envy your stove collection! Another good review, sir. Thanks much.
Someday I am actually going to count and see how many I have😳. Thanks for commenting
Excellent Stove! Thanks Brother You Sure find Cool Stuff. Merry Christmas to You and Everyone.
Glad you enjoyed it. Merry Christmas to you as well
Thanks for the review, very interesting product. I looked at the website to order, and quickly discovered it is very expensive (I’m a fellow Canadian), and unfortunately out of my budget for what it is for. Take care and keep up the great work.
Fir enough. Thanks for commenting neighbour
@@MarkYoungBushcraft absolutely. Really enjoyed the review and learned a lot from your thorough reviews over the years. Take care.
This one is super innovative. Just ordered one yesterday. But the 14 UL out of titanium which is rolled down.
Sometimes the simple solutions are best
I so agree. Simple yet genius. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft thanks for the great content!
I like this style of stove, because you can get a good big one for very little weight, and as you said, that’s great for cold weather, and less finicky to light and keep going. But haven’t you done stoves identical to this, or at least same concept? How would this stack up to those?
I knew you would remember. I tested the Brennele (also made in Germany) which has some commonality as well as the Picogrill stoves. Unfortunately, the Brennele is no longer made . I am considering a comparison video. Thanks for commenting Jim
This stove looks like exactly what I've been looking for, lightweight, packs flat, and is big enough to make a larger fire for winter & fall temperatures. I do have one question about longer duration burns, can it sustain a really long fire without filling up with ashes?
Or would it need to be dumped?
From reading the comments it seems that I have to contact the owner in Germany and request a special shipment to Canada? 🍁
It work for a sustained burn as the holes on the sides will continue to feed air. Thanks for commenting
Thank you for the review of that interesting version of the Hobo/Ikea stove, but is it available in Canada? Santa, please! Season's greetings Mark!
Leo advises international shipping is offered. Thanks for commenting
Can you do a video of the x boil alcohol burner inside the x fire stove? :)
Yes, I could. Thanks for commenting
Looks like a nice well made stove but Picogrill stoves are much simpler to assemble and are similarly light . What does the X-fire better than the Picogrill?
Yes, the smaller Picogrills are easier to assemble, but not by much. Both stoves are well designed and well made. One difference is that the X-Fire 19cm is considerably larger. Otherwise, the choice is up to the buyer. Thanks for commenting
Thanks Mark. Yes, while the large X-fire looks quite a but larger on the video than the Picogrill 239, the actual dims of the large model X-fire (19cm diameter and 19cm high) seems not much bigger then the Picogrill 239 (Folded out: Diameter: 175 mm, Height: 185 mm). However, the bottom part of the Picogrill is not flat but convex, so the actual "working" inside height of the X fire is higher indeed, so longer pieces if wood could fit. It seems the other difference (apart from ease of assembly) between the stoves is no large side opening on the Xfire, so wood has to be fed from the top, which probably is not an issue. What I like about the Picogrill 239 and similar size stoves like the X fire is that they are big enough to be used as a contained small camp fire, and when used for cooking can accommodate larger pieces of wood so that one does not have to constantly feed it very small pieces. I don't know why anybody would use very small stoves like the Firebox Nano or similar size Bushbox models for cooking with wood (except as emergency stove) - very frustrating in my experience .
Hallo Mark, please tell me which one you think is better. This Xboil or from Bushcraft Essentials XXL. Thank you for showing. Sven
Interesting question. In truth, I don't see one being better than the other. The BE XXL is much more heavy duty and a bit larger than the X-Fire. The X-Fire is much lighter both in weight and construction. I would be inclined to use the XXL more at a stationary campsite and the X-Fire if I were doing more hiking. Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting
Way too big for my liking. Once I got into the 5” Firebox and the Nano, I’ve never had a need to look elsewhere.
interestingly the Nano titanium weighs the same as the 14 ul titanium version of this stove which is slightly smaller

Does this rust? Some stainless steels do that’s why I ask.
It can rust if not maintained but only if left in the rain and not dried off. Thanks for commenting
How can we order this in the US? Got a link?
Contact the owner through the link in the video description. He will ship directly from Germany. Thanks for commenting
This stove or the PICO

Price in USD?
Yes, I was wondering also as only Euros were listed
