Say Yes To The Dress is all about wedding dresses which usually are white. But the question really should be "Why It Gotta Be White?". In this episode, we not only revive the Say Yes To The Dress videos here on HauteLeMode but look at the color black and why it is considered not a color one should choose for their wedding dresses. In reality, it's a dumb rule, but regardless seeing the reactions of mothers is always fun!

Mothers controlling their daughters weddings is just an insane concept. It's bonkers that you would force your adult daughter like you're dressing up a 5 year old
My mom would do it 😅 love her though it is just a personality thing
Like the reply here, I have known some mothers that would be super controlling at first, but when they see their child being truly happy they let go. An example is my boyfriend's mom. She is heavily christian and square, I have colored hair, tattoos and an alternative style. She opposed for months but now she brings me presents from work and treat me like family
quite often they're paying. Plus they and all the family have always been told that black is an absolute no no at weddings. So it's very confronting to them and they're also worried about upsetting the family.
I decided not to go with black dress for the wedding because it would cause more drama than it's worth it. Still have a year left till the wedding so may change my mind and go with what I want and not what it's expected of me. Weddings can be so stressful because of pushy family members...and before anyone says anything...my fiance and I pay for everything for our wedding. ✌️
the thing that this show always does is make brides who don’t want white seem as some kind of ‘odd ball’ when it’s actually very common in plenty of countries and culture.
Yeah. Both India and China have the traditional red for example. And being Indian I have seen wedding dresses in literally all kinds of colours. There is no limit.
I enjoy watching ''Say Yes To the Dress India'' because of the colorful attires. So pretty. I hope more people in the west don't do white dresses because they all look so dull.
Yeah, but the two main versions of these shows are in the US, so it seems kind of pointless to be talking about other people's countries and cultures when this is something based in the US.
@@theshadowfax239 even in the US it's not as uncommon as it's made out to be.
From a multiethnic country, one majority ethnic in my country, their wedding outfit is traditionally black with gold trims/embellishments. Even in my ethnicity white is akin to funeral color rather than celebrations (if we go traditional route, black doesn't mean funeral at all, though I need to learn more about what it symbolises in my culture). For wedding we traditionally goes for red. And got questioned by my in law to be when I incorporated lavender in my bouquet since purple is considered as the color of widower (this is more a result of mixed culture I believe as my country is super multicultural and multi ethnic).
That's why it really ticks me when they just makes colors looks bad :(
Lol the latina mom is all latina moms. As soon as she mentioned her death as emotional blackmail I was like "there it is!"
Ion think she’s latina she could be Spaniard js…
She took really long tho, my mom would’ve been mentioning it since dress one
the fact she like immediately felt bad made me cryyyyy. my mama emotionally blackmails us very often ahahah but no one loves their children as fiercely as a latina mother
@@OTMP. nah that accent is definitely Latin maybe Mexican Colombian or Puerto Rican, Spaniards have a different type of accent that makes it distinguishable
@@OTMP. you do realise where Latin Americans mostly came from right ?
That first black dress Camilla tried was completely stunning.
"they're lesbians let them do whatever they want" is my life motto
As a lesbian, thank you
@@lavender2290 nobody cares
@@undeadbandit835 lol why did you care enough to comment tho 😅
Also can we talk about them getting married in a library, the gayest wedding location I've heard of 😭
(I mean this in a nice way btw, it's so cute)
I regret having a white dress. I fell in love with a stunning red dress and wish I hadn't caved to pressure to choose white instead. It was pretty but didn't spark joy like the red dress did.
Same my dress was a classic white poof ball. I hate it.
Do red for a vow renewal. Live your dreams!
that's honestly why the first mom's comment about remembering this when she dies was so messed up, you had your chance mom and ideally this is the one and only time I'm getting married so why are you making my special day about you? Let people wear what makes them feel the best because again ideally they're only going to get married once so they should be able to look back on their dress fondly.
renew ur vows and live that beetlejuice fantasy lol! sounds beautiful.
@@Wuffskers yup I think my reaction to that would have been “Okay then we forget these dresses and the wedding completely and my fiancé and I are going to elope ALONE” - bc that would be the true worst case scenario for the mom I’m sure 🙄
was praying that the first mom’s issue wasn’t her daughter’s tattoos, & then she just said it. the poor girl is covered in tattoos, at this point you just have to accept it! that’s her body!
Yeah her mother is vile she guilt tripped her by saying “the day that I die you’re going to remember this day” , and guess what even though after that she “apologized” and told her she could wear black. Camilla ended up wearing white at the wedding 🙃
I really dislike the “tattoos all over” look, so I feel for her mother, tbh. But what can you do in that situation, other than just suck it up and move on?
Yeah, I was also like "cover all tatoos? Then she'll have to cover up basically all skin"
The tattoos and the first black dress were a match made in heaven. Most beautiful tattooed bridal ensemble I've seen on SYTTD.
OMG, this mother basically told her daughter “I hate the choices you’ve made in your life and the woman you’ve become!” 😨
Which one?
It's common honestly...
Yup....the could BITE ME...I miss my mom, but if she would have lived to see me marry, I would be doing WHATEVER TF I WANTED!!! ❤🎉❤
Gotta stand up and be yourself on YOUR DAY...
Props to Randy and the rest of the staff in the wedding dress shop. Having to third wheel all that family drama must be exhausting
The universal customer service experience tbh 😩
Side note: While yes, the White Wedding dress is an almost 200 year old tradition in Western culture, it is not so ingrained as to not take a break for practicality when necessary. During WWI women got married in suits and dresses of whatever color they had handy, as they married quickly, in droves, b4 sending men off to war.
My grandma wore a brown suit. My grandfather wasn’t going to war because he had an essential job, but there were larger priorities than fancy white weddings.
Black is her color and with those tattoos. Perfect beautiful match. No one else's opinion matters but her own!
My wedding dress was grey...I'm black haired and super pale (less Snow White, more hypothermia) and white/ivory looks truly horrendous on me! Thankfully my mum wasn't a narcissistic control freak, and didn't give a toss what I wore, she was just happy to be there 🥰
i’m also super pale and it always shocks people when i say i look awful in white/ivory/cream, im glad someone else feels that way😭
im also super pale and i feel like i would want a wedding dress to have some sort of contrast and for the detailing to be noticeable? like it would pretty much disappear on me, so i would probably choose a colour that contrasts more against my skin tbh
"Less Snow White, more hypothermia" XD I feel you so much!! And I'm stealing this line, just so you know.
Lol I was waiting for her mom to tell her the “my death” thing such a typical Latina mom thing 😂😂 pues my cousin told her mother “ok and when you’re dead I’ll wear a white dress but for my wedding it’s gunna be black” like floooored lol
My wedding dress was olive green brocade, based on an Issey Miyake Vogue patten. It was lovely because I could wear it each anniversary without feeling like I'd hopped off the top of the cake to go to the local Thai. Vale Issey Miyake.😪
Icon behavior
this sounds absolutely gorgeous. i bet it looked amazing!
Totally random but before I clicked this video and saw this comment, I scrolled past a recommended short on issey miyake despite not ever knowing about her prior to the short
i need to see the dress
so cute
Wedding dresses don’t necessarily have to be white. Whatever color the bride prefers, she should go along with that, after all, it’s her special day and whatever makes her happy should become a reality for her. A black wedding dress is unique. Some might assume that you’re attracting negative energy, but that technically isn’t the case. The bride is truly showing off who she is as an individual, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Hard agree! Wedding dresses are still held to such a particular standard of white or off-white only, when broader fashion is so diverse.
I wore burgundy. Marriage didn't last. 10 out of 10: don't recommend. 🤣
Exactly. And the assumption is just that. What I would tell people who thought that would be black actually protects the wearer from negative energy. So really because of that, and for other reasons I think black is a perfectly fine choice for a wedding dress
Some believe actually wearing black give good luck.
Black could also be deflecting negative energy
Idk. The second mom seemed a little unhinged to be honest. To me, it felt like she had that creepy hysterical laugh people have when they’re overcompensating when not getting their way.
She expected her daughter to be straight and wear a virginal white gown but instead got a lesbian/bisexual with a black alternative gown and she’s SPIRALING. lol
And the end definitely seemed like it was for the show.
I’d love to know her actual thoughts behind closed doors. It probs wasn’t pretty 😬
right? she did not pass the vibe check
Her laughing and crazy grinning scared the shit out of me lol
same. definitely noticed that too
She felt like a really passive aggressive person to me 🤷🏼♀️
I’ll adopt her daughter. She seems bad ass and needs a better mom.
Black is such a great color. It makes a statement. Black wedding gowns are more available these days (even David's Bridal has one or two of them).
My sister in law was insistent on a black dress (she only wears black and KILLS it) and was one of the most gorgeous brides I have ever seen. Everyone that sees the pictures loves it. I think it should be normalized!
I didn't know the history of white wedding dresses, so thanks for the lesson (not surprised it stemmed from colonization/a trend someone in power started). Also idk what Camilla's family was on cause that first dress was absolutely perfect for her, like I can only hope the dress I wear someday will be as good of a match for me. I'm so glad they came to their senses on black dresses cause they suited her way more than white
I know she's a stranger and I'm sure she was happy with her choice in the end but it BREAKS MY HEART SHE DIDNT PICK THE FIRST DRESS. She looked like a goth QUEEN
No she finally wore a white dress to the wedding you’ll see it later in the full episode
If I remember correctly, Victoria partially chose white because it was considered a restrained and "poor" color instead of something over the top and extravagant, not colonialism. Kind of like how everyone gets all excited when a celebrity rewears a dress on a red carpet *gasp* because they did something the peasants do. But it's still a stupid reason to only have white wedding dresses today...
@@tardis358 White was never a poor color. It's really hard to maintain, especially lace or silks. From what I've read/watched, Victoria began to champion the church and became a symbol of modesty and non-pleasure (her family and aristocracy before her were very sexual and into pleasure and sexual freedoms from what I understand). So that's where the whole virgins in white and the symbolism around it comes from in colonial Western culture. It is the standard of places that were or are under British rule and fashion influence like the UK, US, and Australia. That's why it's called Victorian fashion and it's in more than one country during her era.
@@Lill2895 I agree with Jo Brown, I was taught the same thing for the white wedding dress. Before Queen Victoria, the custom was to wear your nicest, most expensive dress when getting married. These dresses were usually of sumptuous material, in a deep/rich color, embroidered and embellished with stones and jewels. White dresses comparatively speaking, were more casual and much less expensive to produce due to how expensive fabric dye was at the time. Most people owned white garments, but they were traditionally reserved for underpinnings and children’s smocks. People in the Victorian age were obsessed with cleanliness and not only bathed regularly, but ensured their clothes were all washed immediately with lye by house staff, so I’m not sure “white is expensive to maintain” is the right narrative either. It would get dirty walking in the streets, but it was cheap to produce (vs a black dress would appear less dirty after wearing it, but it was more expensive to produce). From my understanding, the “Victorian purity requires virginity which is symbolized by white” was a narrative that was tagged on after Queen Victoria chose her dress.
I'm OBSSESSED with "Camilla's Black Wedding Dress" episode!!! Yesss!! So glad that the moms eventually came around to see their daughters' happiness.
No she finally wore a white dress to the wedding you’ll see it later in the full episode
If my sister told our mom that she wanted to wear a black wedding dress all my mom would say is "great, let's go find one." It's really not that hard to support your children when it comes to something as simple as a dress colour.
I wish that was the case with mine. 🙃
First: camila should consult a therapist on how to deal with her toxic family - second: she’s stunning. Period.
i need to know if luke watches these in advance and then goes like “this reminds me of something” and googles it for three hours or if this is truly off the dome bc these references are so specific and professional
i would guess he remembers potential references and verifies. he’s obviously very knowledgeable
I mean his life’s work and passion is fashion.
These mothers are so wonderful to have the self awareness to see that they were diminishing their daughters joy by not letting their daughters choose the dress they wanted. As always critique was on point!
Camilla’s mother is vile , she not only guilt tripped her , but Camilla also wore a WHITE dress at the wedding. Hmmm I wonder why :)
right?? didn't see that coming and it was beautiful and unusual for reality tv lol
And the fact that they APOLOGIZED and said they were wrong to say what they said and they wanted whatever made them feel like themselves.
She wore a white dress anyways bc of the guilttriping of her mother. In the full episode they show that.
When my grandma got married, (Spain, 1950s) the tradition for the bride was to get married in black. Although people started to get married in white more after the war, most people in the villages continued the tradition till about the 70s. (Brides will usually wear a black shirt and skirt (sometimes a jacket), with a black “mantilla” and a black “peineta”.
The war ended in 1939, not in the 50´s.
The tradition was getting married in black if you were in mourning, as my great aunt did, but the rest of the brides wore any other color, but mostly white. You didn´t want to give the impression of not being a virgin. Both my grandmothers got married in the 50´s in Spain and their dresses were white/ivory. The same for the women in my husband´s family (and they were from the village). Some of the dresses were wore by more than one bride, or they were repurposed for other things (granny made a bed cover with hers).
The mantilla is more for the mother of the groom, or for religious events. I never saw a bride wearing mantilla and peineta unless she was from Andalucia.
@@vilwarin5635 I know when the war ended. But my grandma still got married in the ‘50s, you know? She wasn’t in mourning and got married in black because it was traditional. She came from a family of tailors and seamstresses, so it’s not like she didn’t have the option of marrying in another color. All of my relatives in that time got married in black (some of them not completely, sometimes they wore lighter colored shirts instead of black ones) I don’t know about before because I didn’t get to know them and we have no photos. Half my family comes from Andalucia, the other half from Aragon, but you are right about the mantilla etc, not all of them wore it, but a lot of them (almost all) wore something similar covering their head and/ or a hat. My aunts were the firsts getting married in white in the family (the first one in the ‘70s) That’s why I said that getting married in white became more popular after the war (I didn’t specify when it ended)
I guess I shouldn’t have said that “most” people in the villages kept doing it in black since it might have depended on the region. Those kind of things stick very quickly and once one starts doing it, they all want to do it too. After all, more affluent people (and nobility) have been doing it for some time.
@@Dunika I suppose traditions may vary a lot depending on the place. The women of my family got married in Melilla, Cáceres, Ávila and Madrid, and for them not wearing white (except for the great aunt that was in mourning) was a sign of not being a virgin (that's why it was difficult to explain to them that brides get married in other colors now)
Edit: just reminded that my grandma from Melilla bought the fabric for her dress with the cartillas de racionamiento, and her seamstress friend copied a dress she liked from a magazine. Is a cool story and the dress is still in good shape 😍
@@vilwarin5635 I also guess it was time mixing, with some people following more traditional coloured dresses (like black), while others preferred white to imitate the higher classes (who where also imitated the aristocracy, specially french and English).
On of my Spanish great grandmothers was from Valladolid, although she later married in Madrid, and she wore black, with the mantilla and the peineta in her hair.
My other great grandmother was from Cáceres and I don't know what she wore, but both my grandmother and my mom wore white by the 1950s and 70s, so by them it probably turned into the norm.
By the way, it's fun to see other Spanish viewers in this channel, specially when we mention our fashion history, I think it's pretty cool 🥰❤️
One of the most stunning dresses I've seen in this show was from the curvy bride's boutique that had a bride who asked for a flaming red dress. She. Was. GORGEOUS. That dress was a show-stopper.
I still wish Cami had picked the first black dress! I've watched the clips of her episode so many times!!!
Her tattoos with the black lace looked so good 🖤
My Grandmother wore a “candy” pink wedding dress for her wedding in 1949. It caused quite the stir and a few whispers!
She was quite the fashionista, her father owned the largest department store in the region and she had grown up been accustomed to wearing the latest designs.
I was going to wear it for my nuptials, it was a perfect fit until I feel pregnant (yeah I was a knocked up bride) the design and style was beautiful but the shade of pink was not my colour so I was quite relieved to have a reason not to wear it after my grandfather had spent a fortune on cleaning and international postage.
I ended up wearing a Silvery/Blue gown which was perfect for my coastal wedding. Flowers where a big feature at my wedding and once I found my dress I knew immediately that blue flowers (hydrangeas delphiniums) would provide the accent to all the arrangements but they where not in my bouquet. My husband and his attended where given ties to wear on the morning of the wedding that matched my dress. Funnily enough I’d always wanted a pale blue wedding dress but I loved the sentiment of wearing my deceased grandmothers dress, serendipity ruled the day and I wore the colour I had envisioned since the age of 8 when I was a flower girl.
Some days I think a white dress would have been beautiful but I’m glad I walked my own path.
Moral of the story wear whatever colour you want!
Luke, for all your acerbic wit and well-placed sideswipes (highly entertaining), I've never once seen you punch down. In fact, I believe in that cold dead heart you say you have, frolics a pink my little pony, and possibly a couple of unicorns!
Luke, you are the last person I would ever describe as having a "Cold dead heart!"
I wore a Black Velvet wedding dress in 1987 - mid-calf, cap sleeves, lace collar and a bit of a V backline. I wanted something I could wear to lots of different functions. It was very 80s holiday wear, now that I look back on it.
If Luke loves Laurie he must be crazy over Gok. He's so sweet and understanding to the brides. Plus, Gok's store has stunning dresses.
I am so excited that you're doing an episode on black wedding dresses as someone who wants to get married in a colorful gown, but I would love to see you look some more reccent creations. (These videos look like they are from the late 2010's, and if that isn't a testament to how many hours mom and I have watched Say Yes to the Dress together, I don't know what is.)
There are some really cool smaller brands (like Odylyne The Ceremony and Elizabeth Dye) are coming out with some incredible colorful gowns as of lately, and I think it's really exciting that there are more brides like me who don't want to opt for traditional white. 🌈
No she finally wore a white dress to the wedding you’ll see it later in the full episode
I have zero intention to get married and don't like the whole thing, but I'm in love with Stephanie's work (from Odylyne) ever since they made two wedding dresses for Safiya. The whole process and how it was made made me really appreciate the brand
@@LeaveBritneyalone580 Safiya's wedding dresses were absolutely perfect for her. I think I cried a million times when I saw her wedding video! I loved what her and Stephanie created together and I love Saf's eye for fashion. And yes -- I love that she detailed every second of the process behind making her two wedding dresses. As an haute couture addict, I love seeing the process that goes behind creating an original wedding gown for a client.
Wow loving the 1st black dress.. stunning…
I absolutely LOVE the historical knowledge you bring to the table! History of why wedding dresses have been white for just the last twohundred years? Famous actress and her iconic dress silhouette?! Today we LEARN 👏🏻
Queen Victoria was the one who started the white dress trend. White was super hard to keep clean so most people didn't wear it. She had a GIANT white gown made to show off her wealth. After other wealthy followed to show off their wealth
Also the reason Queen Victoria wore white was white fabric at that stage was very very expensive. So, most people couldn’t afford it but once the Queen wore white then it became fashion xx
This first black dress is absolutely gorgeous, she looks stunning. the fam/friend reactions 😭
My wedding dress was black. I knew exactly what I wanted and luckily found a dress that was already made in black that was 70% perfect. Made some alterations and additions and customized the dress for me. It looked amazing and everyone loved it. It made me laugh because when my mom and I were shopping for dresses people kept asking her what she thought about me wearing a black dress. My mom was like "why would I care, its her day she can wear any color she likes". My mom loved the black way more than any white dress I tried on. It had an awesome puffy tulle that had jagged layers for some edge but still clearly looked like I was the bride and not some random attendee in black. Highly recommend deviating from white. Theres so many designers that make fun colors now and many things can just be made in other colors
I always hoped that all the family and friends drama on this show was set up. Otherwise it would be really sad that there are so many entitled friends, parents and siblings who try to steamroll over the bride's wishes and talk to talk her out of something she wants (and looks amazing in). The entitlement is insane and rude af. Yeah, everyone gets to have their own opinion, but that doesn't mean the bride has to listen to them. It's her wedding.
It is set up. And they play to the camera too
Some of it's played up, but some of it is genuine. I have seen some people get very nasty, especially the Say Yes to Dress Atlanta one. I'd say the ones where the conflict gets resolved and people apologize by the end of the episode are some of the ones that might be faked or played up. But I've definitely seen ones where the family members bullied the bride so much she cried and had to end the appointment. The brides are real people, you can find them talking about it on social media afterwards, and some drama is played up for entertainment purposes, but big events like weddings really do bring out the worst in people. Especially in more conservative areas like the South.
Edit: the show has some conflict, yes, but they tend to keep it pretty light. Things like budget, arguments over what style of dress, etc. It's "fluffy" entertainment; it's not meant to have much real conflict and they tend to avoid heavy subjects. The handful of times the show has actual conflict, it tends to be pretty uncomfortable and the segments tend to be cut kind of short once it's made apparent.
I love Luke's supportive attitude to weddings, and Lori and Randy are definitely awesome too!
I’ve never understood a mom caring so much about the silhouette of her daughter’s dress. She’s a whole adult and it’s her wedding, chill out
The first dress literally breathtaking 😮
Camilla (the first bride) ultimately went with a white, fitted, net and beaded dress. I was disappointed she didn't go with the first black dress, it was stunning. Here is her fitting: ruclips.net/video/UrmR5xZ8nFU/видео.html
Damn, that first black dress was STUNNING on her, plus the plunging neckline perfectly showed off her chest tattoo. Sad to see she caved and went with the white.
I like watching the free versions of your videos before I watch the channel member versions so that I have time to actually process everything when I hear it the second time, plus it's fun to realize when I haven't seen a look before
Wow. I always wonder why they don't make patterned wedding dresses. Then, I saw that black and white floral dress. It looked like she was wearing a couch.
The second mother…I don’t think she was ok with ANY of her daughters choices…dress or life. She kinda admitted that in the beginning when she said she hoped her daughter would have found a ‘Prince Charming’ 😂😂
I love black for a wedding gown, if anything it’s way more chic 🖤
That like deco lace on the second black dress on the first woman is totally my vibe, I'm obsessed with it.
Honestly the first black one was stunning the second one wasn’t bridal enough
My mom had an amazing blue and green wedding dress and my dad had a matching tie. To this day she is happy she did not go with the traditional white dress. I'm very much for everybody to just wear whatever color they want for their wedding day and I thought the black dress on Camilla was lovely
I loved the black dresses.
And that second couple is just too sweet! She asked her out for coffee. 😊 Plus they have an adorable pup and are getting married in a library. ❤️
I think it's fun that more brides are being non-traditional. I would love a gold or blue dress myself 👗
A gold dress Would look stunning!
My sister got married in a black dress, had a black ring, and had skulls in her hair. I was the flower girl and wore a white frilly dress. It was awesome
I love how much you love Laurie
When my best friend was getting married, I went to pick her wedding dress with her, as she has no female family member she could go with. To this day, I don't like the dress she picked... because I would never pick that for myself. But she LOVED that dress, and she felt good in that dress, and she felt confident in that dress, and that's all it matters. She looked pretty, the dress was nice otherwise and she was feeling great in it. I love that for her !
i love a black wedding dress. she looks so beautiful
I missed your say yes to the dress content so much!
The best wedding dress I ever saw was at my friend’s wedding, it was black and white flowers and lace. It was beautiful!
in a region of portugal tradicionally the bride wore black embroidered skirt and bodice/vest with a white shirt and veil so it isn't the weirdest thing
Traditionally Spanish wedding dresses were black lace, with matching matila. So I think Mamacita needs to get a grip.
I'm wearing black when I get married. It matches my vintage inspired black diamond engagement ring and I've always been more goth leaning with my personal style. Thankfully my mom and teenagers fully support me looking like a glam indigenous version of Morticia Addams on my special day🖤
I loved it when you said, “They’re lesbians, they can do anything they want. It’s probably been traumatic for them already.” Or, something close to that. Forgive me if I misquoted you
I love these reactions, they’re some of my favorites because you’re so funny but fair. Also we love Laurie she’s a STAR
YES thank you for saying it, Lori IS the best I love her so much!! also couldn't agree more on the yellowish colour looking like it came out of the attic after ages :D
‘You put a period, end of story’ you are a legend, who recognises and praises other legends - tremendous!
This video came at the perfect time. For some reason I have been binging on the 'say yes to the dress' episodes when I, a 100% don't even want a ceremony 😋. Luke reviewing them too feels a bit validating 😅
I love a black or colored wedding dress, but I do think this bridal shop in the TV show is not the best place to get one because they lean to the more traditional white or ivory dresses. Once a bride said they wanted something other than white, their choices narrowed from 1000 to like... ten...
I love Laurie's response to finding out they're looking for a black dress
My daughter wore a red wedding dress. It was a Christmas wedding and it worked really well.
I looove black wedding dresses, I’d consider that for myself actually! In my family’s culture white is seen as a like “grieving color” and not black, usually people wear red dresses since it’s an auspicious color but I just think colored dresses are really beautiful in general
A whole character arc with the mom😅😅😅 and daughter💕😅
This is just another thing to hate Queen Victoria for. White is usually a very unflattering color on anyone who isn't thin and it's just not a color that many consider pretty or inspiring. Let brides wear whatever color they bloody well want
My best friend had a red wedding dress and she was married on Halloween and the wedding guest had to wear black lol it was great ❤
I knew I never wanted a wight dress. My wedding dress was a periwinkle color knee-length dress with asymmetrical sleeves. I still love how I looked that day 12 years later. Zero regrets about going with what I wanted.
Same. I've always wanted a colourful dress, no doubt helped by my mother disliking white dresses and being pressured into it by her MIL
Didn't know what color periwinkle was so I looked it up and its so pretty. I bet you looked amazing
I love periwinkle. Other colors are good I just don't like black wedding dresses.
I really said " I love the way the skirt moves" 3 seconds before Luke did omg
I've always wanted a black dress! Now I'm considering a pink one for the ceremony and black for the reception but we'll see😍
You are so thoughtful and sweet. I love how supportive you are while still letting us know what is/is not good fashion.
Very good friend got married in black and she looked phenominal!!!
Granted, their theme was " 'Til Death...", but still! Looked fabulous!!!
Love that you love Lori, I am a stan too!!
Omg I looove that you mentioned it's a new tradition (it was popularized by queen Victoria when she married). I'm a History student and I really appreciate this!
My wedding dress was blue and white, and my bridesmaids were white gowns. I have never regretted the decision 🥰 Still obsessed with it. I had always loved the underskirt of the Dior wedding dress with the blue and white pattern, and my dress was a full circle moment many years later!
My profile pic is the dress 💙
That first black dress was amazing!
I made my wedding dress, it was a 1960 cocktail dress in such a deep red it looked black in some lights and I loved the colour.
That first dress was gorgeous and looked amazing on her 🥰
When she said "when I die" my heart just sank, it was so emotionally abusive.
the black wedding dresses are just pretty. there were a couple times on the show where they had black and white dresses and I loved the contrast.
I feel like if you’re not paying for the wedding, you dont get a say. My mother got 0 input on my wedding because it was all out of my (husbands) pocket. It was magical and i did not wear white lol
I also kinda think even if you're paying for someone else it's still not your business . I hate people who use money to control people
I agree and I thought of that when the second bride said she and her fiance were paying for the dress. No money, no say, mom!
@AirQuotes Money is control though. If you want something that the buyer will not buy, then you are out of luck.
These dresses are thousands of dollars. If you lent that kind of money to someone who told you they needed it for their mortgage, you'd be pretty mad when they went on a vacation with it.
It's an entitled person who believes that someone else should basically give them thousands of dollars but not have a say in what was purchased. If you don't want to be on that dependent position, pay for your own dress. It's really that easy. Since all of these brides are actually adults, they should be doing the same.
The 1st black dress with her tattoos 🖤
My Grandmother wore a light blue suit for their wedding almost 95 years ago. She said it was more practical because it could be worn again in everyday life.
I’ve had this idea that I want my future wedding dress to be colorful and guests have to wear black and white. I’m bored of tradition.
I wore a deep wine red sweetheart neckline, embroidered bodice with a black weighted hem tulle skirt dress for my wedding from Chotronette. There was deffo some gasps from the guests and I lived for it
I did not expect to cry from this video lol and I do not cry easily but that moment between the mom and daughter made me tear up.
The dress cami li ends up with is soooo beautiful on her! One of my favorites on the show.
Love your concept of rebuilding your castle in the sky
I’m glad the mum took accountability cause that was very manipulative of her
I’m with you- Laurie is the best! ♥️
And wedding dresses can be beautiful in any color! Most cultures use vivid, riotous color!
You are so genuine and honest. I love watching your videos! Thanks for always bringing joy to my day!
Fun Fact: Not only did Victoria start the white wedding dress trend, but she also had a lot of haters. People thought of her dress was basically a glorified nightgown. Which, for the Victorians, was scandelous.
In all my years, I have seen no bride in white. None of my daughters, none of my friends. Not my mother or my grandmother. And not me.
Omg yesss new video! I love black but I don't know if I could wear a black wedding dress.
Oh I missed these kind of videos from you!
