It's complex and sometimes difficult to live with someone that suffers from an eating disorder and depression. My husband in his one time feature shares what it was like: ruclips.net/video/0tm5mBoY2Kk/видео.html&t. If I can heal, you can heal.

Love almonds…. Not any more …. at least 6-7 years. They contributed to my oxalate overload. Also, with the lower level of lysine in a plant-based diet higher arginine can contribute to more shingles outbreaks. Would love to see a follow up on that.
By the way… Back in the early days of covid I found Judy doing podcasts with great graphics. Between her and Sally K Norton, I certainly resolved a lot of my issues for which I’m grateful for.
Great show bring her back sometime soon. Sally K as well.

I quit school when I was 15. Being on a busy diversified family farm I was already used to working long hours. I left the farm at 30 years old. I’ve never been without a job. I retired at 58 in 2019. For years I felt a little inferior because of my lack of education. Now I feel fortunate. We’ve seen what the so-called higher education institutions have and are doing and it isn’t good.

Judy, I so appreciate you telling the truth. I became bulimic my sophomore year in college and was influenced by the same sorts of things and I am now 66 and struggling with some health issues, but the thing that saved me was that at 25 years old, I got pregnant and I immediately stopped the bulimia part
I realize how long I went low fat and even though I’ve always eaten some meat, I now eat meat three times a day and my body is way more happy.
Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m also working through Mold and Lyme and CiRS and have learned a lot from you about that as well. Thank you for doing what you’re doing.

I’m definitely not animal based, or plant based though I’ve attempted both in the past. Plant based for 4 years and animal based for 2 years. I will admit my deepest darkest moments was on a plant based diet. It kicked my binge eating disorder in to over drive. I did animal based for a couple years after being plant based and it definitely did help with my binge eating. I’ve found that just a Mediterranean diet has worked the best for me

I’m currently in a 12 step food addiction recovery group, but the food plan is weighed and measured amounts, 3 meals per day, to include protein, vegetables/fruit and grains and avoiding eliminating whole food groups and extreme diets!! For this reason I have a sponsor who will not go there with me on carnivore idea! As I need to gain weight she will not consider me eliminating grains or fruit and veg, she is still of that mindset that it’s vital for vitamins and minerals. I’m so torn, as I cannot manage on my own and get so much support from belonging to this very structured 12 step program and community, but suffer extreme fatigue and aches and pains having had hepatitis, glandular fever and extreme chemical sensitivities.

Oh gosh, I really hear your plea. My life has been dominated by eating disorders and other addictions and I have just begun an ACA & dysfunctional families 12 Step Program. I have come to realise that my anxiety and addiction behaviours are rooted in childhood trauma. I am sticking to a strict loin diet with egg yolks, and so far nobody has challenged me about my diet. I think all the 12 Step Programs are similar, but I have particularly stayed away from a program that would insist that I change my method of getting my nutrients. Hope that helps

I did first year reg dietician at a NSW Uni and dropped out end of first year. The Uni course was / is sponsored by grain and vegetable industry players and sugar interests, the course was run in a two step forward one step back ideal by lecturers where there is course certified text that needs to be delivered and regurgitated successfully that is in contradiction to some of the very fundamentals of cellular health. Amino Acids we cannot live without in contrast with this obsession with vitamins from plant vegetables, legumes and wholegrains. Then there is the seed oil saturated fat debate, OMEGA 6 imbalances, Linoleic Acid over Stearic Acid......
The debate would commence and more often than not the debate would end with a consolatory response of " to pass the course you need to .......... "
I would not trust a registered dietician for anything that has to do with diet. Speak to your butcher instead.

This was so interesting. I was headed down the same path. Keto had me on 1/3lb of meat (calculated to my height and weight) plus a blender full of veggys. I was starving so added another blenderful. Then, still starving, got into the "keto foods" at the grocery store and that was it. Ready to call in my chip.
My first food to the carnivore diet was butter. I felt something good right away. 8 months now and doing great.
Thanks for the Netflix tip. I didn't know Hack Your Health was there. Or I wouldn't have trusted it unless a carnivore recommended it.
I realize now you did not recommend the Netflix hack your health. I forced myself to watch most of it but soon realized it was just ridiculous. Go carnivore people. End all the BS.

Judy, this is the best podcast. Thank you for sharing. I’m 5 months on carnivore after 11 years vegan and 15 years with an eating disorder. I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. At 3 month bloodwork the pre-diabetes was reversed as well as the eating disorder and I feel the best. My question is do you have experience with children on a carnivore lifestyle and if so, how does a parent get a child to eat meat? My 10 year old granddaughter is on SSRI’s and they keep raising the dose as she grows and the effects of this terrify me. She is a super picky eater which doesn’t help. I appreciate any input on that subject.

    • @GlennMarshallnz
      @GlennMarshallnz 14 дней назад +1

Hi Stephanie, congratulations on the change. Regarding your granddaughter I'd suggest a grass fed meat heavy diet with the balance low oxalate vegetables and low sugar fruit as that's less restrictive for a young person but still providing most of the benefits of a carnivore diet .

This is such a valuable video for me. Thank you Judy for being so open and honest with your life story. The Carnivore diet helped me heal my sick body so much ( after many many years of plant based eating ) so that I decided to wean myself off of the high dose SSRI’s. I had been on these drugs for over 20 years for symptoms of anxiety. Now over a year on from that, I am struggling again with my mental health. I’ve discovered that my problems are rooted in childhood trauma and am embarking on an ACA 12 step program. I’m staying with strick loin diet (even when people tell me it’s a new form of eating disorder) !!! I love listening to your positive message. 🙏🙏🙏

Humans are no more designed to eat meat anymore than Simba is designed to eat kale. Herbivore teeth have flat molars for chewing plants while omnivore teeth are serrated for stabbing flesh. Herbivores’ jaws can move from side to side, while omnivore jaws cannot. Compared to herbivores, omnivores produce much more stomach acid for digesting meat, fish and chicken. The intestines of humans are nine times their body length while the intestines of true omnivores are three times their body length which helps to facilitates the rapid movement of meat, chicken and fish through the gut preventing the putrification that results in humans as a result of slow elimination. Humans are anatomically herbivores and do not have the mixed physiology seen in pure omnivores. The assumption that humans are designed for eating meat is wrong as their teeth have become very small and rounded, function only as accessories to the incisors and are useless for ripping apart or tearing anything stronger than an envelope.

I'm sorry to hear that. Often there are two parts to eating disorders. The physical side needs nourishment and hormones will kick in to impact behavior, but the biggest part that needs to then be challenged once nourishment of the body occurs, is the core wounds, trauma and reasons you are afraid to eat. There is a root-cause reason(s) you turn to food or abstain from it, finding those reasons can help you heal from this wicked, life-sucking disease. I'm really sorry you are struggling. I understand, but know that healing is still possible for you. 💙

Nutrigenomics? Does it say smth to you? What about the new discoveries about genes and how we all have a very different gene expression. Disorders can be understood if you know how your genes express themselves. Mostly meat turns down some very important genes. If you are addicted to meat you also need to look at your gene expression. Take a test and find out. Read about discoveries in nutrigenomics and epigenetics. Stop generalizing. Not everybody experiences eating disorders after a whole plant based eating. So no. No to this type of videos where the audience needs to nod their head at you in oblivion about their own needs. What a disservice.
