    is it better to knock off all blacks using blending options or split the slider of blacks to just see through the fibers of black shirt?

      I group all (without background layer), then make a copy. Merge that 2nd group so it is all one layer. Then select a very small piece that is all black (Nip jacket). Then go to Select > similar to select all the black. Then I’ll delete it. So the graphic is really all the colors besides black.
