It should be noted that Asimov did _not_ write his "3 Laws of Robotics" with the intent that they are a fail-safe logic system -- most of his stories featuring robots and those laws are about how they can _fail,_ as the dramatic crux of the story. Like, the robots are still following those laws, yet things end up in disaster anyway. As with much of science fiction (especially early science fiction) they were tales that posed the question "what if we got that far and did it _wrong?"_ and explored the consequences of using seemingly air-tight rules that _aren't_ actually air-tight to govern intelligent systems that will explore the entirety of what they're allowed to do and inevitably encounter those holes. (Note: this doesn't really have anything to do with what Atkeson said in the video; it's just a side-note on how Asimov originally used those "3 laws" in his stories, versus how the laws are often remembered in more contemporary stories about robots)

@@wellnas6625 your weaboo instincts are mostly correct. Death Note is the best. But Ex Machina is a thing so I rest my case.
@@ieuanhunt552 there are great robotic sci-fi in every medium. Death note is for kids compared to stand alone complex or the Ghost in the shell movies, that question how far can machine learning go way beyond Turing test.
I’d argue Detroit Become Human is the peak of questions arising about android tech but okay
@Daniela Lobos Pérez lol other comment said that death note was the best on anime, so I said that it was kids in comparison to other anime. It wasn't in context sorry
(Note: this doesn't really have anything to do with what Atkeson said in the video; it's just a side-note on how Asimov originally used those "3 laws" in his stories, versus how the laws are often remembered in more contemporary stories about robots)
i just wanna give this man a hug
