    Thanks for this! I just finished building a clone of an MXR Phase 90 and this song - along with "Shattered" - were some of the first songs I played through it.

      Mxr phase 90???.....is this the effects pedal to get the right sound? I thought perhaps it was a flanger???

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  Год назад +2

      @@user-vz1rc1rb5o For this, you want a phaser/phase shifter, rather than a flanger.

    Great ear man :) How do you do the riff at 2:18 by keith or woody ?

    Your interpretations of all the songs you've covered seem so right. Where do you find your tabs, or do you play by ear?

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  7 лет назад +14

      I don't read music or tabs, I play everything by ear.

    I picked up a really cool book you’d enjoy …. Or maybe you’ve seen it… it’s called “According To The Rolling Stones” it’s a hardcover, lots of pics and stories/perspectives from each of them , all in their own words etc… it would be 80$ at a bookstore but I picked it up off the Thrift Books app, which I highly recommend. I also got Keith’s autobiography “Life” for like 5$. Both brand new shape and they’re hardcovers. Pretty cool ! Anyways, made me think of ya! Hope all is well !!

    What is the deal with the bridge pickup in that guitar? Also JJ is your SG neck pickup turned round to get less bass?

  • @davidrappaport2792
    @davidrappaport2792 7 лет назад

    JJ - just curious, the chord at 0:46 - I've never seen you play that before in an open G song. How did you figure that one out? Thanks as always.

      +David Rappaport To make a minor chord in open G, the G string goes down a fret.

      Same as an Aminor on banjo. Look at a sheet of banjo chords if you want to learn shapes for open G.

    Garrett Morris: [dignified, dripping with snooty condescension] Now, I'd like to speak about the subject of a certain Mick Jagger - of the Rolling Stones. ... And I'm going to talk about the song he sang -- a song in which he sings these very words: "Black girls - just want to have sex - all night long." ...
    Now, Mr. Jagger, there is only one question I want to ask you -- Jaggs. ... And you better have the answer, man, you better have the answer, since you have besmirched the character of black women. Therefore, here is my question, Jaggs. [pause, takes off eyeglasses, suddenly drops the pose, pleading] Where are all of these black broads, man? ... [huge cheers and applause] Hey, like, where ARE they, baby? You got any phone numbers for me, baby? ... Please send 'em to me. [puts glasses back on, dignified again] Thank you. ... [enthusiastic applause]

    I love your lessons dude, your one of the best on RUclips. You do a good job of telling us the tuning. Can you put a little bit more thought into the effects and tones being used? I loved the finger print file lesson, but I'm guessing at the details....sorry, I'm just not that gifted, I learn like a dog! Thru shear repetition.....

    Can you please describe sounds on the gold Schecter guitar about the feel and neck shape, etc.?

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  7 лет назад

      I replaced the neck, so I don't really remember what the original neck felt like.

    • @rednoise0

      If this is one of the Asian Schecter PT Goldtops, I have one. The humbucking pickups can be split to single-coil mode by pulling up on the tone control (or is it volume? can't remember). The neck is quite nice - compound radius, from 9" at the nut to 12" at the butt end. It's a nice instrument, especially for the small money it cost me.

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  6 лет назад

      This one's US-made, and it's older. It doesn't have the splitter. I have a black one that's Asian and newer.

    I've done this one in Open G with Capo at 2nd fret.

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  7 лет назад +3

      That's the logical way to do it, but I've seen live vids of Mick doing it without the capo. Go figure!
