Album- Strong arm of the law Full-length, Carrere Records October 1980 Biff Byford - Vocals Paul Quinn - Guitar Graham Oliver - Guitar Steve Dawson - Bass Pete Gill - Drums
Okay, I have a confession to make. I've been playing guitar for over 13 years, been listening to metal since I was 12 and I NEVER heard Saxon at all until last night. Talk about a rookie mistake. These guys are phenomenal! Duly noted ikonxp, already confessed last night after hearing this great track.
Ne surtout pas oublier, l'album " Wheel Of Steel " qui pour moi, fait parti des 2 meilleurs avec " Strong Arm Of The Law " , bien avant " Denum and Leather "....!!!
Got my folks to but this album for me for Christmas when I was 14, nearly 30 years ago. Nearly wore it out. I ran coaches from the Highlands to see them, maiden, Rainbow, Sabbath sold tickets so I could afford to go myself. Those were the days!!
Motorhead is still pretty big, from what I've seen. On the other hand, no one I know has heard of Saxon. Can't be a true metalhead without having rocked out to Saxon at least once in your life.
killer metal track from one of the best new wave of british heavy metal bands saxon, love the riff on this one. the vocals are magic too. this is what you call heavy metal the best metal sounds like this. #nwobhmforever and #saxonareheavymetallegends
I was listening to the music on the radio (*) I had a feeling that something's not right The music was loud, we could still hear the crowd From the gig that we played that night We pulled into a motorway restaurant Stopped awhile, fooled around But I still had a feeling that something's not right 'Cause we're standing in a whole in the ground Stop, get out (**) We are the strong arm of the law Stop, get out We are the strong arm of the law Into the night came a blue flashing light A blast from the siren to make sure But it came to a stop behind the motorway cop Who'd been tailing us for more than an hour He pulled us out of the car on the side of the road He questioned us one at a time Where is the gear that we know that you use We said the only speed we use is on cars You should've seen the stupid smirk drop from his face It was a negative exercise The way that we dress and the things that we do They thought it was an easy bust (Repeat *) (Repeat **)
I WAS PLAYING THIS SONG WITH MY HIGH SCHOOL BAND BACK IN 1980 AT A HS PARTY AND JUST AS WE WERE ABOUT TO GO INTO THE LAST CHORUS THE POLICE BUSTED IN WITH FLASHLIGHTS .... OK STOP PLAYING PARTY OVER. !!!!!! GREAT FUN THAT WAS. IT WAS WELL INTO THE SET SO WE HAD ALREADY MELTED FACES OFF WITH OUR VOLUME.
"Where is the gear that we know that you use? We said the only speed we use is on cars.." Saxon = Straight Edge! Not really, but damn this is a damn near perfect rock n roll anthem...
Used to hear my brothers playing Saxon when they were having a bath back in the early 80s(they still have a bath now). Never really appreciated how good they were until I saw them play live at the Download festival. They were amazing live and should have been on the main stage, the crowd were going mental.
I had this vinyl LP which came with a big iron-on patch of the Saxon logo for the back of the denim jacket. I gave the disc to a long-haired Kraut who came to stay with us once.
A friend claims his mum (or his mate or his dog or something) worked in a benefits office and the Saxon singer Biff was done for benefit fraud!! Or maybe it was his Mum. Whatever.
"The only speed we use is our car". They don't write them like that any more. I think that Saxon had amplifiers with volume controls that went up to at least 12 at that time!
Saxon - Strong Arm of the Law Iron Maiden - Sanctuary Judas Priest - Breaking the Law Anthrax - I am the Law Sodom - Lay down the Lay So many good songs about the law.
In the 80s, I never knew when or who Saxon was coming with, so I'd miss the show and see kids at school wearing the Saxon concert shirts the next day. WTF.
"Stop! Get out!" Just got stopped by the police a couple of days ago. They checked my ID and the car documents. Checked the car and my pockets for weapons and drugs. As a law-abiding cititzen, I naturally didn't own any illegal items. Even had a nice little chit-chat with those cops. They were nice guys and real friendly, not like those in the song. :)
Love that guitar riff, Saxon are so underrated.
+Retro Gaming Guitarist oh yes ! and so easy to play, that's the beauty of it !
James Baker Agreed.
They play at wacken festival, they're not underrated in my opinion, only true metal heads know bands like Saxon
The best heavy metal band for me...I hope for millions others, too
Retro Gaming Guitarist s

First two Maiden albums and Saxons Strong arm of The Law and Denim and Leather, for me best albums in heavy metal ever...
I’m pretty sure those bands toured together back then. I saw Maiden at least five times back in the ‘80s but regretfully never Saxon. Great band.

Great band, it's a shame Saxon didn't achieve any major success in the States cause these guys sure know how to rock

I listen to Saxon for years!
Nwobhm for sure but still very blues rock based!!
I was listening to the music on the radio (*)
I had a feeling that something's not right
The music was loud, we could still hear the crowd
From the gig that we played that night
We pulled into a motorway restaurant
Stopped awhile, fooled around
But I still had a feeling that something's not right
'Cause we're standing in a whole in the ground
Stop, get out (**)
We are the strong arm of the law
Stop, get out
We are the strong arm of the law
Into the night came a blue flashing light
A blast from the siren to make sure
But it came to a stop behind the motorway cop
Who'd been tailing us for more than an hour
He pulled us out of the car on the side of the road
He questioned us one at a time
Where is the gear that we know that you use
We said the only speed we use is on cars
You should've seen the stupid smirk drop from his face
It was a negative exercise
The way that we dress and the things that we do
They thought it was an easy bust
(Repeat *)
(Repeat **)
It aint aged one bit !
Love it 😎
To think my mum used to sing this to me for a bed time lullaby lol

Wow.. this is the first time I listen to Saxon, and they're amazing! Awesome song
pretty good
Grupo injustiçadíssimo do heavy metal, mas que por outro lado é muito venerado pelos fãs do estilo. O Saxon merecia mais reconhecimento SIM!

Saw them on the “Denim & Leather” tour back in the day. Bloody hell they were loud!
Unleash the beast is a great modern heavy metal album.
Το λατρεύω αυτό το τραγουδι!

Old school Metal Rules..........nuff said!
@ 1980....me n my sister discovered rock...
Ain't looked back...
years ago I saw Saxon at the Aragon in Chicago, they backed up Motley Crue. Saxon completely dominated the show as would be expected.
In the 80s, I never knew when or who Saxon was coming with, so I'd miss the show and see kids at school wearing the Saxon concert shirts the next day. WTF.
First band I ever saw. They were supporting Nazareth
Me & a few m8s saw these in kimberley in a gym on this tour it was awesome the tickets was only £3.75 what a bargain 👍
There's no way round the fact that this fucking kicks ass a hell of a lot.

My now deceased ex wife asked if I would look after her mate for a while and thank god as she was really nice and let me borrow the album
