I'm from India but this song goes right back to my childhood in Calcutta, My grandmother had a bunch of old records and one of them was some songs by Betsy Rutherford. I remember this one from about 1968 when I was twelve. Oddly enough, I can't remember the lyrics of songs I heard a couple of years back but I remember this one without any trouble at all. It's now 47 years on!
+Arjun L Sen : I found your comments fascinating. Like you, I can remember the lyrics of songs I heard and sang almost seventy years ago. Many of them were popular during the Civil War and were know and sung by people my grandparents age.
Faded coats of blue and muddied coats of gray both bloodied when American brothers oppose each other in the deadly fray. Let us exchange our coats now and in one voice, now pray.

Thanks so much for posting this. Do you know who the other musicians were?
Betsy was a real original. She`s greatly missed.
