Now I am sitting in a kind of thoughtfulness. The film that I have watched many times since 1986 was suddenly seen by foreigners. In the USSR, it was broadcast several times on central television. The fact is that we schoolchildren perfectly knew all the atrocities of the Nazis to the smallest detail. This was gleaned from the stories of our own moms and dads, our own grandparents. There is not a single family in the USSR where there was a relative who died in that terrible war. Millions of books about the war were written by Soviet veterans and we swallowed one book after another. On the streets, children played at Germans and Russians running around with wooden pistols. Any festive event at the school was not complete without guests of honor - veretans. Hundreds of wonderful films have been shot about the feat of our fathers and grandfathers. History lessons at school are a powerful layer of information embedded in our heads with dates, surnames, events. We knew this by heart and were well oriented in the historical events of that war. Today I am looking at the National Geographic, where there is absolutely no material on the role of the USSR in the Second World War. As if it never happened. The intro from the National Geographic states that the defeat of Hitler began from the moment the Allies landed in Normandy. Seriously? And where is Stalingrad, the Kursk Bulge, the Vistula-Oder operation, the Bagration operation and much more? And young people in Europe are watching this. What will they know about real events? My grandmother was taken away to work in Germany, but she was lucky to hide in a nearby village. But millions of young girls were taken to Germany for slave labor. For disobedience - execution, For harboring - execution. They were transported like cattle in locked boxcars. I'm glad people were able to see this movie. But the reality was hundreds of times worse. The filmmaker admits this too. He was simply not allowed to shoot as he wanted - people will not want to remember this. It would be a terrifying movie. But today there is access to documentaries and declassified reports with photographs from the commissions who traveled to the places of executions of civilians in the USSR. We also knew about this from stories, and today we can get acquainted with declassified facts from archives on the Internet. I'm from Belarus.I just want to show you to foreign viewers some data on the policy of genocide carried out in the occupied territory of Belarus during the war in connection with Generalplan Ost.Of the 9,200 localities destroyed and burned by the German occupiers and collaborators in Belarus during the great Patriotic war, over 5,295 were destroyed along with all or part of the population in the course of punitive operations.(according to other data, 5295-the number of destroyed settlements, including 628-together with the population. 186 villages were not able to revive, as they were destroyed with all the inhabitants, including mothers and infants, the infirm old and disabled.) In the Vitebsk region, 243 villages were burned twice, 83-three times, 22 - four times or more. In the Minsk region burned 92 villages twice, three times 40, four times 9, five times or more - 6 villages. Out of a total of 5,295 villages, 3 % were destroyed in 1941, 16% in 1942, 63 % in 1943, and 18 % in 1944. The result of the Nazi policy of genocide and "scorched earth" in Belarus were 2,230,000 people killed during the three years of occupation. Every 4th person was killed, and according to updated data-every 3rd resident of Belarus Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians are one people. Belarus is a republic of the USSR. Hitler considered the Slavs to be subhumans, a dirty nation that allowed a mixture of races. Therefore, in his opinion, the Slavs are of no value and were destroyed. 27 million dead Russians (and only 8 million of them are military). Hitler considered Europeans a race of masters. Therefore, we have such different wars in Europe and in the USSR. In Paris, for example, restaurants and cafes worked throughout the war, and at this time in Russia the Germans burned villages along with the inhabitants. My friend, no doubt the people USSR paid a huge price to fight Nazism in Europe, kudos to them. I just want to remind you 1) A large part of the nazi genocide was directed to the Jewish population and communist leaders / political infrastructure. There was no nazi plan to exterminate slave population but to use them as slave workers. 2) Belarus "nationalists" (like in all other USSR minor states) also actively collaborated with the nazi en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byelorussian_collaboration_with_Nazi_Germany#Belarusian_military_and_paramilitary_units_in_the_German_army 3) I suspect this is a movie against all wars, not specific a movie against nazism 4) the "scorched earth" tactic is use when an army retreat no advance, which the nazi used after 1943 (?)
It was actually the soviet forces which used scorched earth tactics, and that was one of the key reasons they prevailed. It was used to prevent German forces occupying territory. It wasn't until 1944 that the German forces applied scorched earth tactics. The Soviets were definitely one of the main reasons that the allies won, mainly due to to attrition. Well over 20 million Soviet soldiers died in the later parts of the war. Stalin actually ordered his soldiers to shoot any retreating soldiers so that they would not stop fighting. Naturally an American broadcaster would skew the story in their favour, but just like without the soviet number, the war wouldn't have been won without the Americans numbers. It really was a joint effort by all the allies. The Germans would have likely never won the war, but without the sacrifice and numbers from each side, the war could have been lasted much longer
@P the report that Stalin ordered his men to shoot at retreating soldiers is a hoax. I'm not a historian, so I'd recommend you'd learn from you tubers who are better versed on soviet warfare than I am
@@Redditaurus Right. Here the historical fact is turned inside out in favor of one point of view. But history says the following: Defensive detachments are military formations that were deployed in the near front-line rear on the front line (behind the main own troops) to maintain military discipline, prevent the flight of servicemen from the battlefield, catch spies, saboteurs and deserters, and return to units of those who have fled battle and servicemen lagging behind their units. They were created in the armed forces of various states, starting from antiquity, in critical situations to perform punitive functions (up to the death penalty), from the most morally and psychologically trained military personnel and special units. They could have various names: field gendarmerie, rear protection troops, etc. Such warriors were still in the days of the Greek historian Xenophon. In his work of the IV century BC "Cyropaedia", the historian wrote about the back rank, the function of which was: "to encourage those who do their duty, to restrain the fainthearted with threats and punish with death all who intend to turn to the rear, instill more fear in cowards. than enemies. " In the same Xenophon, one can also find psychological sketches, in which the attitude towards those who panic during a battle is quite unambiguous: “The mass of people, when filled with confidence, evokes indomitable courage, but if people are afraid, then the more of them, the they succumb to more terrible and panic fear. " Here Xenophon defines the primary function of the back rank - to suppress desertion in the bud, when people have not yet succumbed to mass panic. Similar formations in battle formations were used by the ancient Greek commander Philip the Great (father of Alexander the Great). Marshal of France Montluck placed a barrage detachment behind the troops to punish those who left the formation and fled from the battlefield. King of Prussia Frederick II used the rear ranks of non-commissioned officers for the same purposes. In Russia, during the First World War, first Cossack barrage detachments were created, operating in horse ranks, and then foot machine-gun units, called "death battalions".

Glasha sadly dies leaving Florya even more devastated by what he had become in recent weeks after I died. A necessary film, therefore, which speaks of some one of the 600 villages of Belorussia having had this treatment, without forgetting a village like "Ouradour-sur-Glane" in France.
Excellent 👍 exactly the point I made , but you made it better . Thank you for mentioning the massacre in France too , totally overlooked apart from people such as Dr Mark Felton et al. It is a necessary film and i just think it is necessary to be watched . Merci beaucoup
Great work with this trailer, it encapsulates the experience of the movie perfectly.
Just saw a ranking that show's this is one of the best WW2 movies ever to be made. The trailer creeped me out. Gotta see the movie now.
Watch 142 minutes version and not 137 minutes.
Ok the first 20 minutes of this movie are better by far than a vast majority of movies I've seen in my lifetime.
A great trailer for one of the best achievement in the cinematographic art - congratulations!
holy shit everyone's eyes in this trailer. I gotta ses this. Mads Mikkelsen made Hideo Kojima watch this and now I think I need to as well
Ahaha I just came from that video
Wow, do you have a source for that?
@@Eskaite I can't remember exactly in which video it was said but it was one of the Kojima productions RUclips uploads. They're kinda long videos so Id have to scrub through them but I'm certain it's in one of those.
@@applesauce9982 you don't need to waste time on that if you remember what they said about the movie, I'm just curious because I think everyone should watch this, especially non-slavs because they are already aware of the things shown in the movie.

Wow. This was an incredible edit..
This was in 1985? Wow way ahead of its time.
how
A lot of film from that decade was ahead of its time.
Watch Soviet war films. Many of them are masterpieces. War is war for example .
This music was such a perfect choice.
One of the best movies ive ever seen. True Masterpiece!
Btw i love cinema and holliwood...
This is an unbelievable movie. Check it out.
I have to find the time to see this and STALINGRAD.
Gotta watch it again.
This movie will MESS you up
💯💯
Threads(1984) as well
The Divide(2012) is also another scary recommendation.

I’m not ready to watch that yet because I’ve heard disturbing things about it
Great movie! I just discovered it about a year ago. Better late than never I guess?
This film and pianist are the best movies about the war
WE HAVE FORGIVEN, BUT WE WILL NOT FORGET !!!
You don’t need to forgive me Mr. Aleksandrovich. I don’t deserve forgiveness.
Yeah, i've seen it once, and that trailer gave me.some unpleasant backflashes
...this movie open the doors of hell...
Dunno why, but the one image that stuck with me in this film was that paratrooper stuck between the trees, like spider hovering above your head that will eventually come for you...
Yes its odd. I remember feeling uneasy regarding that .
Ooo wee. The music is fucking relentless. Amazing trailer.
I think I need therapy after watching this movie
I wished i had it especially after the nightmare of when I died in Florya’s arms by protecting him from being hit by gunfire and his screams of agony were too gut wrenching to hear because he loved me so much that not long after I died, a grieving Florya goes on the most mental rampage ever and shoots down every Nazi he comes across as he gets visions of his ex girlfriend Glasha who was with Florya earlier in the movie being responsible for my demise. It’s just to heartbreaking to watch a grief stricken Florya to become the violent one and he brutally stabbed Glasha after finding out she was the guilty one; the blood on Glasha’s side was pouring down her so deep causing Florya to throw up before trying desperately to save her life. Glasha sadly dies leaving Florya even more devastated by what he had become in recent weeks after I died. If I hadn’t sacrificed myself, Florya would still be his normal caring and loving self if I had lived. Those nightmares are totally devastating for Florya
Thank you ...a really great 'home made'(?) Video ...its brevity & choice of music work very well together..
When you realised it’s not a horror film!!!!
The most nightmarish, most realistic, brutal, terrifying and disturbing historic film ever ever ever made.
It really was.
Every other war film pales in comparison
Soviet censorship did not allow this film to be shown for a long time. Although this film shows 30-50% of what the Wehrmacht and SS did on the territory of the USSR. In this film, a light version of the events in the occupied territories of the USSR, everything was much more terrible. 7 million Soviet citizens were deliberately killed in the occupied territory
@@AlexGlumoff exactly. this film is very light compared to real nazi occupation I know
1:01 scares me for some reason
the more i replay that scene, the more is scares me too
Great trailler! Great movie!
one war film you never forget, only one other film that is worse because it's real
'Nazi Concentration and Prison Camps (1945)' used as evidence at the Nuremberg war crimes trial.
Thanks James. Klimov's movie is a masterpiece. Your trailer was extremely well done. I am a postgraduate PhD lecturer in 'The West'. I always encourage my postgraduate students (in many cases, not native English speakers to watch films in their free time to augment their world knowledge and English levels. They ask me for film recommendations... which for me are 'The Shining', 'Apocalypse Now!', 'Come and See' and 'Eraserhead'. Perhaps not too appealing for some of my foreign students though! Does anyone have any other ideas?
Many thanks in advance.

Some movies off the top of my head that push the boundaries are Good Time (2017), Holy Mountain, Twin peaks the return, Mulholland drive, Buffalo 66, climax and Hereditary

and at the same time, this film was shot earlier than listed, which means all the rest of his children in a certain sense. connoisseurs of films in Hollywood love and are inspired by this film in a certain sense.
Watch the 142 minutes version and not the 137 minutes that are available on RUclips and some websites. Go to pirate Bay, copy the magnet link and paste it in your torrent client (I would recommend "flud" for Android). That will download the film for you.
(I think 1337x did not have the quality and share ratio)
@@yanpheeleep4967 the version on RUclips is only 137 minutes, so nearly 5 minutes of scenes are missing.

Why are there people who still deny any war crime of the nazis back then?
Because it is convenient in modern politics.
Some bastards today try even to equalize Soviet Union with Nazi Germany. This film namely for these persons: “Go and look”. Go and look bastards these are sufferings endured by the Soviet people. Those annihilated women, children and civilians are relatives of those Red Army’s warriors (whom you are blaming now) that freed the Europe and World from the Nazis horrors.

Democide statistics and this movie ought to be enough to make one reconsider having any form of government. "But who will build the roads?" they ask (OBVIOUSLY not having done the research). I'll take my chances that we can figure it out, considering the alternative.
Leave peace to any ordinary Joe who can become just as evil as a Nazi? They would be tempted to be an evil god.
@@raymesquite Good question. If there wasn't a government, Hitler could not have been the leader of one.
The only way to prevent an evil person from doing state-level evil (e.g. genocide, democide, etc.) is to not have an organization which has the power to do it. Psychopaths & sociopaths are attracted to that sort of power. (www.bustle.com/p/9-jobs-sociopaths-are-most-likely-to-have-12982458 and www.businessinsider.com/professions-with-the-most-psychopaths-2018-5?op=1 ) Note that evil CEOs are included because corporations are formed through government; corps. are legal (fictitious) persons which offer evil CEOs enormous protection.
The social dynamics of the Hadza tribe is evidence that peace can exist without government. They have no governing hierarchy (or formal religion, by the way) and they resolve problems peaceably - they talk about it - or move to another camp.(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadza_people)
Questions of how, say, Starbucks won't be able to raise a secret army of robot Terminators to eliminate non-coffee drinkers in a peaceful society, is addressed here (page 90): cdn.media.freedomainradio.com/feed/books/PA/Practical_Anarchy_by_Stefan_Molyneux_PDF.pdf
Hope this helps address many more questions so you don't feel like supporting an organization responsible for killing over a quarter of a billion humans under THEIR OWN rule during the 20th Century (hawaii.edu/powerkills/20TH.HTM )

@@RodCornholio You have some good points but I still think a government that establishes good morals are essential to setting good rules.
