I'm staying in Mazatlan now and have been here since December. You missed one of the biggest events of the year, the Carnaval, which is the 2nd largest Carnaval celebration worldwide. 2 million+ people travelled here for it. Also on the 8th of April will be the total solar eclipse - also 1 - 2 million people are expected to come here. Later in April there will be a huge motorcycle rally, similar to the Sturgis motorcycle rally in the USA. I found many street food vendors on the back streets of Centro away from the old town, and also northeast of the Golden Zone in the local neighborhoods. There are many active English speaking groups here that hold breakfast clubs and trivia nights for people to get to know each other.
Thanks for your Mazatlan video. My husband and I just booked our month’s stay there, so I was particularly interested in your video. We just spent 3 months in QRO, went home to Ohio and will be off to Mazatlan in April. Love your videos!
Thanks for the great video. We’re in Mazatlan now in October. Everything mentioned in video is true to what I experience! I want to add weather information if anybody planning to visit here in the fall, the heat and humidity in September and October is brutal- it’s so muggy I can’t enjoy activities outside during the day😂
Well put together video you guys. Enjoyed the format, back and forth between you as well as your opinions and feedback. We love Maz also, having been there 3 times, spending most of our time in Centro / Playa Sur. Next time(?) you go, check out all of the street food vendors at Explanada Sanchez Taboada (where the cliff divers are) at night time. Loads of food vendor stands and knick knacks for sale in that section. It's by ice box hill if anyone needs a reference point. The place does come alive in the evening, and is great to see lots of families out. The sidewalks can be quite a challenge, esp around Playa Sur and in the busier streets in Centro. As you noted, many homeowners take pride of the front of their house and sidewalk. Pretty much any local we spoke with was super friendly. There was one older gentleman who ran a tortilla shop in Playa Sur, didn't speak a lick of English, but we had a great conversation with my limited broken español. The pulminias are a fun and cheap way to get around. Negotiate hard (it's in their culture), and you can snag a good price. We would walk to the bigger grocery stores like Leys or Soriana, and get a ride back home for maybe $100-120 MXN. Uber is also pretty inexpensive and usually minimal wait times. The Malecon length - the internet has this wrong, and few people check it against something like Google maps. It goes from the Monumento a Pedro Infante in the south (the motorbike statue) to the big Mazatlán sign by Valentinos. It's just under 7km / 4.3 miles. It's a lovely walk from end to end, but 4 miles is about our max before we poop out. Luckily Hot Dogs El Charly is near the MZT sign, and those are muy deliciosos. Beyond Valentinos to the north, there is no malecon. Coastline for sure. Just normal streets beyond that. I should try the shrimp next time. The wifey loves shrimp, and I've not been to keen to try them for some reason. Maz is def a fun place to visit, maybe even to retire to. Lots of good memories for sure.
here are two bigger parks for your next visit: Parque Ciudades Hermanas (downtown, near the beach) Parque Central (very close to the baseball stadium and right next to the new aquarium) also, there's plenty of seafood "carretas" on the streets, remember that being by the beach seafood is our forte. I imagine you went to the "Panamá" restaurant, a classic in this part of Sinaloa, that's probably the widest selection of good food you'll get, so if you didn't - next time you should
The baseball games are fun - esp watching the audience enjoying the game. I didn't know Panamá had restaurants, the only ones we went to were the Pastelerías. Next time we'll check them out.
No, it's a much different vibe. It's hard to explain it, but the Mazatlan centro is beautiful and trendy. In PV it has a much more rustic older town feel, but with a great energy. You see when you get here!
Hi Landy & Roddy....thanks from Toronto! I am looking to stay in Mazatlan for 2 months ( Feb/March ). Can you please recommend a place to stay near Centro/malecon....2 bed/2bath with oceanview. Where did you stay ( cost per month )? Would really appreciate your insights ( we are 67 ). Thank you. A&M - Happy New Year!
Hi Andy. Centro is a good spot to stay! You can find places in airbnb or facebook Mazatlan rentals or facebook expats groups. we stayed far north because we had a car. we spent about 1500usd / month for a 2/2 apartment with pool.
Thank you for the great video! Which city do you prefer? Mazatlan or Puerto Vallarta to live in? My wife and I love walking around exploring interesting places of a lively area.
Mazalan offers lower rents than PV, PV offers more tasty foods. Mazatlan offers long beach side walking path. PV offers more surrounding beaches and towns. Personal we prefer PV in gerneral.
@@dreamlifeinMexicoI disagree with you. The best food here is not the fancy restaurants. Here it's all the small family restaurants that are all over. The magic of mazatlan is when you live here WITH the mexican people. As for small towns there are alot in the mountains such as concordia. Cheers from full mazatlico transplant from NW
MAZATLAN IS NOT QUIET. MAZATLAN IS BANDA. MAZATLAN IS THE BEST FOOD IF YOU LOOK. ALL YOUR COMPLAINTS AMOUNT TO "MAKE MAZATLAN QUIET AND NON-MEXICAN FOR WHITE SUPREMACISTS" THANK YOU FOR NEVER COMING BACK.
I love your video and your honest opinion of it. I have a service 🐕🦺 and I noticed you have your pooch with you. I'm currently staying in Guadalajara, and I'm planning to do a scouting trip to Mazatlan. I will bring my service dog. Any recommendations for service animal friendly accommodations?
Thank you for enjoying.our video. There are many pets friendly stays in Mazatlan. We found our condo on Airbnb , Its in cerrito area. it really depends where you want to stay.

Mazatlan is 1 of the beach town on my list for relocation, but I am not at retirement age as of yet. No shade, but I too would like to be around people closer to my age group. 45 and up.🤣😂
If I didnt know how to cook in mazatlan I would starve to death. The only good food is Birria ( From Michoacan) and SOME of the Ceviche, everything else is way below average and just weird. Even the tacos are boring, How do you ruin tacos?? Worst food in all of Mexico.. Yet in the mind of Mazatlecos the entire world loves their food... Seriously, mazatlan is a good place to SKIP. It was cool a decade ago, now its commercialized, over priced, and dangerous as hell.
@@dreamlifeinMexico you mock respect and humility, and compare everything to your snobby American standard; it's arrogant, presumptuous, and just plain rude. You are a guest in a foreign country, nothing more.
You got the street food wrong. It's everywhere and not just hot dogs. There are morning places and there are nighttime places - perhaps you were looking for them in the afternoon! I've also not found a soggy taco dorado, but they do ladle the birria broth over the birria tacos dorados at some places - perhaps yours got a late splash on the grill. And just to say - in Sinaloa (most of México?) beef is rarely aged. This makes anything except a thin cut come out tough. Asada should have been fine though - but realize the restaurant can't take a bite of your food before delivering it so the only way they know something wasn't up to par is if you tell them. Mazatlán is known for seafood, and we have a ton of great marisquerías.
that what we saw. we assumed it must be around. We just didn't see it. it shouldn't be so hidden. we never had a problem finding or seeing it in other cities.
@@dreamlifeinMexico I can't answer specifically as I don't know where you were staying - but it *is* everywhere, and not hidden. Just not in the afternoons. Breakfast/early lunch or after dark (especially after dark). I think our summer heat has a lot to do with why those are the hours.

It’s the 3rd biggest after Brazil and New Orléans. The motorcycle weekend is in May,due to the eclipse.
