Brilliant teacher! Take note, people! This man knows his stuff! I had the pleasure of being taught by Keith whilst he taught at Newcastle (not certain if he still does). If he doesnt know it, jts not worth knowing when it comes to theory. 👍
Thank you, that's very kind of you. I'm no pleased you enjoy my work. I've been playing and teaching for 30+ years, but I'm relatively new to the online community. Hopefully things will pick up as I add more content. Fell free to spread the word👍
Great video, examples and explanation! Also, I like your last groove, as definitely every funk bass line should have a fat root note on the one. Until it doesn't and sounds even better without. : D Seriously, I love bass grooves with no note on the one. But it really depends on the song, of course. There is not rule without lots of exceptions in music or arts, imho.
Amazing stuff, absolutely love it ! Thanks a lot !!!! Very minor thing - 4:47 incorrect 3rd note from the end of the bar, B should be corrected to Bflat. You play and say B flat. Also not sure 100%, but it seem that very last rest is not what you play. Thanks for sharing such cool tabs!!!!
Thanks Dennis, glad you enjoyed this. I’ve checked the clip and as per the on screen notation and my dialogue, the last two notes are Eb and E natural. You might be able to see it clearly as I don’t move my finger a lot when I play, but I’m rolling my fingers across to the D string to play those notes at the first and second frets (unless of course I completely miss interpreting what you’ve highlighted)👍
Thanks! The theory works for any instrument, so will translate the a synth perfectly. You do need to know what notes you're playing though and how they fit over the chords you are playing. Give it a go👍
@@academyofbass yes i do 😊, I also give bass classes and I hope that my students are happy with me, I hope that you put something on a more advanced level 🙏. Greetings from Spain.
Great stuff. Only just discovered your channel... one minor comment: on the second bassline, can you please check if the pdf has the correct 13th note to match your video demo?
Great that you're enjoying the channel, thanks for the feedback. Not sure which 13th note you're referring to? Let me know and I'll check? Pretty sure it's all correct though.
@@academyofbass I may be wrong but I would have thought it should be Bb on the first fret rather than B on 2nd fret of the A string based on what you played in the video.
@@academyofbass Thanks for the reply. Maybe it's pilot error, but there is no associated backing track. I click to download and there is only the PDF. Please advise. Thank you.
Gotta love the funk!!! Nice one!
Thank you. Funk is the best thing!
Every lesson’s a gem. Thanks Keith.
You're too kind, but I'm delighted you're enjoying my lessons👍

Absolutely fantastic stuff man!!!! You should link the backing tracks man !!!!!
Thanks Dave, I'll look at that
Even if you can't feel the funk... you can definitely count it out. I am amazed. Years of wondering what was in the sauce. Thank you!!!
Thanks Denis. The more you play it, the more you’ll feel it 👍

Wow this sounds great. And very clear an easy. What are the chords playing over the bassline though?
Thanks, I'm really glad you like it. The chords played over each bass line are mentioned in the video. They are also in the PDF, grab a copy.
