It is impossible to comprehend the sensation one feels at 11:50 , that is the best part of any flight, and with thousands of flights each day, several hundred thousand can sit back, and relish the feeling of departure....
That engine spool-up brings back memories from my first airplane trip. I was in second grade going to L.A. on an American Airlines 767. all the newer planes like the A330s don't have that epic spool-up anymore.
I agree, the taxi isn't as fun anymore without hearing the spool up! Even some newer A320s are so quiet and it's just dull! Thanks for sharing a memory!
I've departed on this runway with Southwest on Nevada One! I remember the blue hangar in the background, because it was my old spotting location before a relocated to Tampa.
I feel the same way about Delta's DC-9-50 fleet. I LOVE THE DC-9-50s. Im really gonna hate to see them go. But like I said earlier, the 717-200 will be welcomed in my book!!!
The engine sounds at takeoff and during taxi are spectacular, but my favorite part is most definitely the engine start at 4:05. WOW!! The deep rumble of engine start, while it does seem to be louder on the 717 than say a 737, is something that many aviation videos don't capture very well. So awesome video man! (despite the dirty windows on those old birds ;-) )
Thanks a lot man! I really appreciate your generous feedback. I definitely agree that the sound of the 717's engines is one of the nicest noises I've ever heard. I also really like the sound of the Embraer 145s, now that's an incredible spool up, especially for an RJ.
Jeffh737 I've never flown on an ERJ and haven't watched many videos of them but now i know what spool up to look up next time, thanks for the suggestion!
Goodness gracious you are correct! I have no idea what I was thinking sharing this monster long departure. But then again, many do like the taxiing and safety announcements.

Thank you! Yeah I'm really looking forward to see them with Delta, but I sure will miss seeing Citrus...this truly is the end of an era.

If I may, for us impatient folk - for the engine spool sound, go from 11:10

Southwest FL Jets the 717's are new so they maybe 7 or 6 years old.
Very nice video. Can't wait until they are in Delta's fleet, hopefully flying out JAN. Really wanted Southwest to take them but oh well!!!!
great sounds!
Thanks Brandon bro!
No other aircraft has a better spool up than these! And I'll be flying one on Delta in less than two weeks! And yes I made sure my seat is in the back
***** Haha good, no better seat than right next to those engines! Enjoy your flight!
Thanks man!
Thank you, that was my intention, to bring the average youtube viewer on a flight!
Nice, but the taxiing was endless:-)
