Stunning Brett great conditions shot well. I've not seen hore frost since escaping the grim North of England 17 years ago. Gonna be heading to the South Island in May cannot wait, counting down the seconds while stocking up on film, memory cards and hot soup. Top video mate enjoyed your efforts.
Loved this vlog Brett! WoW! what stunning views/compositions you were blessed with. You took full advantage of the situation/conditions and the resulting shots were amazing. That van had me worried at 23.40 as it looked like it was slowing to stop in the frame. I was also thinking: Nooooo! Don't stop there!. ha! ha!. I must go with the 5.19 shot as it's just lovely! 18.50 also. Thanks mate, great vlog once again. 👍.
Gary thanks very much mate. Appreciate you watching & yep that is my favourite image too, I think ? Hard to chose. If you ever get a chance to do a hoar frost in Otago or McKenzie then do it, they’re always stunning.
What great images Brett! And such incredible conditions all day. I loved the way you worked through showing your comps and the trick with the 3 or 4 fingers for focus stacking. Keep up the great work!
Just got back from being away with work for a few days to catch up on your videos mate, really great work. Love those images, the three trees was certainly my favourite closely followed by the trees on the edge of the turquoise lake, really great work mate!!
This is an amazing vlog Brett.. Soooo good.. Stuoid Question... How do you edit the focus stack>?? Have you done a video on that? Totally Inspired and 100% NISI / Sirui convert here !!
Thanks a lot Sharon, focus stacking is actually pretty easy to edit, I haven’t done a video on it but if you search on RUclips I’m sure you’ll find something. 😃😃😃
wow I really, really want to go back to Wanaka. I didn't explore to Twizel or so many places last year. Now I am so inspired to go and explore further.
Brett, that video was just epic, i cant choose, i can see why you were excited, with all that beauty surrounding you.Thankyou for sharing. Your work is nothing less than remarkable and inspiring on all levels, would so love to be there for the winter!
Fantastic video Brett. Your images are amazing and the conditions were just right for you. I love your tip about photographing your fingers to remind you that the previous images were a 3 stitch etc. It nearly makes me want to change from the Autumn tour next year to a Winter one but I won't. I can do the Winter one another time.
All those images were fantastic Brett, I love a nice misty frosty shot. Again looks very similar to places near me in the Highlands of Scotland. I have a handy tip for you if you've never tried it or anyone reading this and what I've tried in the past which has worked out well. When I have a composition that I need to get up higher, I put my lens to 16mm, 10 sec timer, collapse the legs inwards, hit the shutter button and lift that camera up full arms stretched holding the bottom of the legs, now it's a bit hit and miss at times but you can get an amazing angle if you get it right, obviously you can't focus stack and depending on the lens F11 to 16 will give you enough sharpness to the edges. Give it a try and let me know how you get on. I think one of my images on my Instagram was taken like this, it's pretty cool. It's nice to find another photographer who isn't flipping British or American to follow, get very bored seeing the same thing on RUclips. Great stuff, if ever you get over to the Highlands of Scotland give me a shout for a tour as I do the same thing as you taking tours around the local area 👍🏻👍🏻 keep up the great work.
@@BrettWoodPhoto Good stuff, feel free to give me a shout if you ever want to meet up and I'll take you out west to the best spots 👍🏻 bring your camera obviously 😁👍🏻
Wow that was an awesome video! Thanks for sharing it with us all. It was great to see how you shoot and the footage and images were absolutely breathtaking
Absolutely beautiful work on this video Brett, so educational and those images.....🤔hmmmm!!!!! still can not decide, which one is the one I like the most, they are all simply beautiful, with the gorgeous atmosphere around. Looking forward to the next one👍. Take care mate.
Mate I had premier pro I deleted the subscription it’s the worst program ever, reminds me of Apple Music. I’m just using iMovie at the moment. But I will get Final Cut Pro when my year of retirement ends 😜
Nice work mate and blessed with those conditions and abundance of composition..I do like the shot of deep toned trees either side of the lightness centre at the bridge,magic...You choose f8 -f11 quite a bit rather than say f16 "my fave" is this in reducing distortion and/or because you can achieve more precise sharpness with the stacking of a wider aperture? Cheers
Woody what an incredible day of photography. I really enjoyed this one, the scenes had me smiling it was so beautiful Next year I hope ill be there myself
Awesome video Brett, Love the 3 fingers tips. I used to take a black frame but it didn't tell how many shots I took. I have been using your way since your first video and much much better specially when processing them weeks or month later. thanks for the tip. Looking forward the next video.
One of the best videos I've seen on working a scene. My favourite was the second to last. So special, but then all are exceptional. Thanks, Brett. Keep these vid's coming, mate.
Another great vlog Brett. I really do appreciate all the effort that goes into producing them thank you. All the images are excellent but the 5min shot did it for me. Interested as to why you were shooting in AV at times? Also because i use a 5d4 i have learnt heaps about some of the functions and how you use them. Might bump into you in a couple of weeks, cheers mate :)
I can see why you were so pumped mate..just amazing! Enjoyed every minute and the images were on point... Hard to pick a favorite but that first one was mine. Looking forward to your next outing 😊
An awesome video on how to compose and manage an image. The locations were stunning. The shots were brilliant. Given it was -4c, do you ever use a lens warmer? Thank you it again get me inspired to get out more.
How long does the battery hold out for in the cold conditions? Great video, envious of location. Many of us have never photographed in these conditions so tips about shooting in the cold could be of use.
Really enjoy your videos Brett. What time of the year were you here? Mid winter or earlier? I'm heading back there for Autumn next year - a time of the year I've wanted to return to NZ
Well that was just fantastic. This is the first time I've come across one of your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise and tips. I loved the three fingers photos. What a great idea. My fave was probably at 30 minutes - just beautiful - but they're all outstanding. What wonderful conditions to shoot in too. I did notice that there wasn't one bird to disturb the water. How lucky was that.
Magnificent Brett! These are the sort of compositions that I’m after for my portfolio. Hopefully next winter I can come & join you on one of your winter workshops! Can’t decide on an image, they’re all spectacular! Great work! Looking forward to many more episodes!

I use the handwarmers while I'm out shooting just put one in a sock and wrap around your lens
