Bach and Arthur, please please PLEASE can you talk about the hard problem of consciousness on a pod. There’s a really cool video that explains this that BLEW MY MIND! Watch ‘There’s No Such Thing As Orange’ by exurb1a and please talk about it, i find it so interesting yet it’s hardly ever mentioned despite it being something so relevant to every single person’s perception of life. I BEG OF YOU
i love exurb1a too!! I HIGHLY recommend the channel Rational Animations’ videos “That Alien Message” and “Sorting Pebbles into Correct Heaps” if you want stories that will really make you think
I would 100% still watch my favorite RUclipsrs over an arguably better AI video because AI to me will never be able to replicate the personality and character of those individuals you’ve grown to love and admire. Hope your thumb grows back Bach! 57:16
There's no way to have a 'superior' AI youtuber, because RUclips is so personal. Ten different creators could make a video about the same thing, or even more specific, could all react to the exact same video, but with completely different viewers. You watch RUclips for the people primarily, not for the content necessarily. For example, I've never played golf, never had any interest in playing golf, never watched a golf tournament, but you best believe I'm subscribed to Big Wedge and really enjoy the content they create.
i personally would never watch anything ai over actual people. i hate ai (mainly because i want to be a graphic artist and people are using ai to take those jobs) and i would never give an extra view to something ai or give someone money for something they made out of ai. i also just hate the way ai looks most of the time… like the kwebbelkop ai looks horrible to me (at least the last version i saw)
I defo agree that creatively driven people in that field are so much safer than those in STEM related ones. I i couldnt everrrr see ai being able to form the same human x human relationships, connections, and attachments we have with each other - mainly down to the fact that we have the knowledge they’re artificial. personally any ai art, literature, or any media really, feels so lifeless (obviously…)because there’s nothing to admire. I love reading & being able to sit in awe that a human has spent time thinking those thoughts n being able to articulate it the way they do lol. art (generally, not just traditional) is far too human for ai to replicate effectively
If I hear AI mentioned again I will off myself 💀 I got into my first year of computer science 3 weeks ago (🎉🎉) and I've heard about AI taking my job about 30 times dawg
The way this podcast is so fast-paced and how they switch between different topics and go deep into them just itches my brain the right way 👏🏼 this is my brain 24/7 😂
I think the fact that humans have lives which are interesting and we can see ourselves doing similar stuff. AI doesn’t have such a wide range of TRUE stories and a personality.
You're not alone bach last year i almost took my middle finger out when using a spinning sanding machine when making an architecture model at university - my finger grew back in 2 weeks :D
With the AI creator topic, id say one of the reasons which would make me always prefer human creators is their reliability. An AI may be funny but it will never go outside and post vlogs, recognisable english places etc. For example i watch this podcast knowing that i could see bach and arthur irl at a show and get interactions which i dont think would be as achievable with ai, an AI will never be have this relatable authentic feel to it that youtubers do
as funny as this is if ur actually going to do it (which is very morally dubious in itself) i wouldn't mention it in a place where they're actively checking comments and would actually be exposed to it😭fandom culture and etiquette people
@heijzl i was joking bestie 😭 i personally don't agree with fanfic about irl people anyway because i think it's a little invasive, and like you said, morally dubious. i wasn't being serious dw 😭
Hii, listening to the podcast about AI and the domestic bots you were talking about and asking for a movie recommendation so I’d say watch “Subservience”. It was released earlier this month. When his wife becomes sick, a struggling father buys a lifelike AI android named Alice to help with the housework. Things seem fine until Alice suddenly becomes self-aware and wants everything its new family has to offer, including the affection of its owner.
i have such a fascination with ai and everytime i have a big girl thought i hop onto chatgbt and talking about ai sentience with ai is so refreshing like it shows you such a new level of understanding of something you’re already thinking, as of right now it really only expands on your thoughts but it’s still beautiful in my opinion
Another issue with AI art is that it steals and takes art from genuine people and creators. None of its original and it’s just theft honestly. I wish people would stop using it for this, even album covers 💔
56:06 with this point specifically for actors, there's been "talk" about replacing extras in films with AI, which is huge for people who aren't already famous or nepo babies. In america especially being an extra is what gives new actors experience and gets their name out, if background characters were replaced with AI it'd take a lot longer for any new actors to get into hollywood or anything. Then of course theres the whole using famous actor's likeness and putting it on other people for the name. ((also I am fucking loving this podcast guys❤❤))
there’s something so disheartening about finding art that was created by ai because art is unique to every artist which is what makes it so human and what makes it so enjoyable. people who put time and effort into their craft (whether it’s videos or art or whatever) will always have my support and I will always connect with better than something that was created by ai because part of the beauty is how much time, effort and emotion was spent on it
Really interesting conversation around AI. I am studying in the natural language processing field and I feel that the biggest take away i've gotten is that AI models (large language models) such as chatgpt are not as smart as they appear. They don't really "think" or "reason" in the way humans do. They're really just predicting the most probable answer based on the data they've seen, which is very different from how humans reason and learn. I feel that AI with emotion and feeling is not within reach based on current technology. Would love to hear more about what you guys think on the topic. Great pod!
So interesting! You two should listen to a podcast called rehash. They have multiple episodes on AI, NFTs and specifically AI p0rn which i thought was very inciteful. As we are seeing popping up, the need to disclose use of AI and legal regulations in creative industries such as film is increasing and we saw that with the writers strike so i think there will be means to delay AI domination when it comes to disenfranchisement.
watch eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!! my fav movie of all time plus i think you guys could have a really interesting review/discussion about the themes and everything!
I don't think I could watch a content creator if it was an ai because the most important part of creating content is that emotion/character and soul that i just don't think an ai could recreate to the same level.
You got so lucky you only took a tiny bit off, it could have been so much worse. Once it's set up attach a blade guard so you don't have any accidents when using it 👍 stay safe 😊
