Just realized that the breath at 0:22 isn't just there to be creepy, it's a hint that Father Fairest would regularly blow smoke in BF's face. Probably as an intimidation tactic. So BF immediately starting to sing after that? Yet another sign that he's DONE, the monster doesn't scare him anymore and neither do his parents.
Can't remember the last time I felt this proud over a fictional character.

in a few of BF's talk sprites you can see cigarette burn scars on his shoulders and neck. his dad didn't just blow smoke in his face, he put his cigarettes out on him.

I like how Week 5 was one of the least important weeks in the original game but in Soft it's absolutely amazing and pivotal to the plot.

The way he finally smiles as the demon fades shows the pain he's been through is finally gone.

When I played this song in the mod, I had no idea the scream was coming. But when it did, it sent absolute CHILLS down my entire body. This mod is amazing in every regard, I love it.

I feel like the start is the "monster" about to start the song and then BF starting to sing to show that he won't let the monster control him.
I thought exactly like that since nornally the opponent starts but now since soft BF is done with others controlling his life he just leads the whole song knowing and showing he controls himself
And how the Monster Father repeats the harder parts instead of Soft BF.

Week 5 in this mod as a whole is incredibly cathartic since BF finally fully breaks free from the control of his parents and outs them as the shitty people they are in front of everybody. Then this masterpiece is just the cherry on top since BF finally conquers the demon that has been haunting him for god knows how long. His voice in this song sounds confident and the scream is oh so telling that he is the one in control now.

@@fennecegg8118 saw someone playing through the mod, and it still caught me off guard, cause in the middle of the song, it's just "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and it's so fitting for it, because it also reflects how badly he wants to just shout at his parents about how shitty they are to him, instead of being soft spoken

Lord almighty, _this_ was the crowning turning point.
I mean, look. In song one, it all started off normal. A crowd gathered for the Fairests as they caroled through the holidays.
Then song two occurs and the parents immediately lash out. Our hero LOOKS as if he was going to be tormented yet again...
_Not this time._ He straight up gets *PISSED,* not willing to put up with any more of it. The crowd looking shocked and offended when he called them out may have been the kicker as they just _now_ realize how bad the Fairest family was to their child.
And song three, which is _this,_ has the illusion from back at the mansion seen once more. Again, our hero isn't frightened... he's straight up *PISSED.* Not to mention in this and song two he sings at _full force._ He's gathered enough willpower to counter *the very nightmare born from his cruel parents.*
And don't even get me started on the climax. The monster struggled _hard_ to try and cause him more pain, and at that moment he just went all-out in hopes of devastating him once more. That deadly musk of smoke was his last resort, and it outright _backfires_ with the *_most powerful god damn yell mankind has ever heard._*
Now the Fairests had better watch themselves, 'cause this boy ain't playing games *_no more._*

Now that I've heard the song a few (hundred) times, I noticed something...
For a good portion of the song, instead of the opponent singing and then BF repeating it, it's actually BF singing something and the opponent repeats him.
Really shows that he's in control now.
0:00 - 0:22 literal chills, feels like you're facing your greatest fears to finally rid of them.
0:24 -1:30 You're finally fighting what keeps you from ever being confident.
1:30 - 1:33 you finally snap.
1:34 - 1:59 You finally start dominating and are getting rid of them.
2:00 - 2:22 You slowly watch your greatest fear start to fade with the haunting choir, finally releasing you from your chains.

I gotta say, I love the contrast between this track and Repressed, especially since in this track Soft BF sings the first note which parallels him standing up to his parents
It's oddly rewarding watching/hearing fictional characters get over their certain fear when you can't do so yourself.
I like this one, fits the mood perfectly.
That scream Soft BF does back to the Monster roaring at him...just oozes both him screaming in pure agony and frustration from all he’s had to go through, and that feeling of “I’M NOT TAKING YOUR BULLSHIT ANYMORE!!!” since he’s finally stopped being silent about what his parents have been doing to him.

I can heavily relate to this mod in a deep way. I dealt with judgement and strictness from my mom and stepdad for years before I finally decided enough was enough. They threw me out of the house by threats of cop calling and physicality. My stepdad even tried to strangle me twice. All because of me being a gay furry. Like, I know what I do isn't normal but come on I don't deserve the physical and verbal abuse they've given me. My fiance has helped me through a lot so yeah...whenever I listen to this song, I can put myself in BF's place and feel emotionally connected to every song of this mod.
Props to the creators, this mod is a masterpiece
That breath at the beginning sends me chills. This was one of the many songs at the time that jumpstarted my love for FNF for its wonderful community and songs it gave us. I am on a hot streak finding the old songs that I'd use to listen to everyday that'd hype up my imagination and some other FNF videos reminded me of this. I love revisiting the past and my old nostalgic phases. Thanks for making this masterpiece that I won't forget! :).

I love how the person who starts and who copies constantly shifts. It feels like an actual fight for control over not only soft bf’s mind, but his whole life.

I’m just gonna put it this way: I have seen some stuff before that has never phased me, at all. This song actually plays with my feelings. Congrats, that’s just another reason why this is one of my favourite songs in fnf, or even in general as weird as that sounds
You got the the awesome beat, the build up, *that scream*, and then at the end, one of the most beautiful and fitting tunes I’ve heard for someone finally being lifted of a curse: a demon that had haunted them all of their life.
I actually cannot put into words how good this song is, so just know that I’m giving this song much more credit that what I am able to type
This song is so good, it's perfect for an "epic final battle" song. It just feels so satisfying to listen to.
I think the reason why bf screamed is because the monster roared at him to try to make him be afraid (1:25) and so he essentially screamed back at it to fully show the monster that hes no longer afraid and the one in control.

Tbh I just noticed through my second or so listen that BF isn't actually really screaming, but roaring back at the monstrosity as a sign of retaliation, dominance.

This song is a masterpiece and that scream just ties the entire story together.

You can really hear the emotion in soft bfs scream. He went trough his dad abusing hin, breaking up with soft gf, his parents trying to manipulate him into being with soft gf, loads of that crap piled up that he couldnt handle and he just had to let out. With a loud scream. And he defeats the "monster" (that monster is how soft bf sees his dad) and hes happy cuz he said before hes not scared of them anymore. And, that the "monster" dissapeared, meand he really isnt anymore. This is the most heart-felt scream ever in any mod, or game i guess. 10/10 song 10/10 mod

rediscovered this song after probably 6 or so months, and i forgot how much i adore this mod and this song. it really hits home for reasons you can guess, and its somehow very cathartic listening to this. i hope everyone who worked on the mod is doing well, they deserve it after making something like this ^^
Out of all the songs in the mod I'm sure everyone can agree this one is the most powerful as this one and the one before it (I think it's called hope) are when softie finally takes control of his life, exposing his parents and banishing the demon that tormented him for a long time. Now free from his chains he can face whatever life throws at him.
I like how despite be called "soft" the mod actually is a big roller coaster of feelings and include heavy topics on the plot uffff.
This one is my favorite in the entire mod. So epic and Soft BF really becomes brave after everything he’s been through

One thing that I like about this song in particular is the fact that, unlike every other song, BF takes the offensive (he starts the song, not monster) showing that BF isn’t really scared of his parents anymore.

Softie's "scream" came across as more of a battle cry to me... I mean, he's absolutely finished.... He's BEYOND DONE. He took the time to ask himself, "What am I willing to put up with today? NOT F-ING THIS!" (sorry I just really love that meme)
Imagine the pain soft BF's siblings must be feeling because they probably would've gotten the exact same treatment as Benjamin. Heck, I'm willing to bet that BB (You know, Michael) also would've subjected to this treatment because of how much he truly cares about his brothers.

I love how on some points softie is the first to sing, and then the demon imitates him, really shows how's he's the one making his own rules now.
The fact I actually can relate with this mod, I told my parents that I wanted to be a painter, since that they started being so perfectionist about all the things I made, then they started "Educating Me" by screaming at me horrible things like saying that I am useless or that I don't deserve all the things I have, I just want to escape from that place but I have nowhere to go. When I heard that scream at "Genesis" I got chills because I may sound crazy but I could hear the pain and those things in boyfriend's voice.
I legit have an obsession with this song. The Soft Mod is just the best and gives me hope in the FNF fandom.

The best part about the scream is it isn’t just one of BF’s high notes held. It’s actually a recording of someone (presumably the one who did the song) screaming a pained scream, and then audio edited to sound like BF.
Poor dude's been through hell his whole life. Dude really lets out all that pain here.

i'm listenning this song for the idk-how-much-i-listened-it time, and it still makes me want to cry because of the story behind it and how emotional it is, this is amazing omg.

The end of the song is so powerful, even if it just repeats the beginning, because it gives you this feeling that "it's finally over."

Genesis is the First book of the Bible, So this song probably symbolizes the first chapter of Softie's life without his Shitty Abusive parents, Who forced him to do things against his will, Who put him through an endless cycle of abuse, Who controlled him as he was a puppet on strings, Now he Makes his own decisions, And he is now free from the path his Parents set for him.
I’ve listened to people play this song and covers of it in the past. People always say it sent chills down their spine, but it never had an effect on me. But now, listening to the song itself, no other noises, I hear the scream, and I legitimately get chills. Yeah, this is my favorite mod.

That sigh in the beginning terrifies me so much. It feels like reaching the point of no return, where the monster has just had enough. It's like an endless amount of unadulterated rage being expressed in 2 seconds. I can practically hear the monster saying "I'm gonna kill somebody" each time I hear it

What I like to think about most with this song is the opening and closing. The opening has little jingle bells signifying that the final battle is about to begin. At the end however, these bells are gone, signaling the fact that the battle is over and Softie has finally gained control of his life.
