I have a merc c 200 for 2 years now and it's just the best car I have ever driven.
If I'm given the choice between these two I will still go for Mercedes.
I have a Jaguar XE and it is the best car I have ever owned (and I have owned many many cars. I always buy new) The ride quality is superb, and it has made driving a pleasure again. There is more technology, as standard, than I need, but, hey, that’s no complaint. And it looks great. So pleased with my Jag.

Audi bmw or jag... nobody can beat the merc in terms of sale.. the c class is already 2 years old, bit still it hardly feels any challenge..

Merc spend more money on luxury where as Jag spend on dynamics
Isn't the 147 kW Jag a more direct rival to the C 200? This XE seems more of a C 250 (petrol) rival, in terms of performance that is..
Thing worth noting is that both these luxury compacts are genuine RWDs!🤩
The Mercedes interior is the best here...and every test u want 3series or a4 ...is the Best interior in this classe

The Jag just has Character
no matter what i vote c class !!!!!!! because when you go deep in it is called the compact LUXURY segment and it is more about luxury and comfort than power and speed. i dont think the 3 series or jaguar xe actually focus on that and are keen to show of their passion to drive. heck even the bmw tagline is driving pleasure and im not saying thats bad and all and i love speed but the compact luxury segment is one of the few segments where speed doesnt actually matter. it is meant for those who want rolls royce like driving and luxury for everyone!!! but both the jag and the bmw are going another direction. hence i would say the c class really focuses on the objective of this class better than its rivals though the jag xe is not far off on the obj and even so the merc wont dissapoint the chauffer

If you are under 70 years old get the Jag XE R-sport, if you are closer to 100 get the Mercedes!
I am 30 but still I think the Mercedes is all the way better

Wow, I didn't realize how lifted India's versions of cars are. If you drove this in the US or Europe, people would think you put a lift kit on it XD I say this as an Indian-American.

not so attractive but very convenient fr a middle aged guy who buys this , Middle aged men and women in india don prefer car with less ground clearance as it wud take more effort to get out of d car fr them.
this is why d hatches in india are becoming hatch-suv type crossovers,lately
Naresh N I don't think that's a big problem. and getting in and out of a car depends on how the seat is positioned, not really with ground clearance, unless the car is very high or very low to the ground, then it's harder to get out.

In majority of areas becaz of d population density d speed bumps are not laid by govt regulations,so to protect d ppl who wud crossroads without looking out.
we have most number of jaywalkers in d world
the back seat of the c-class has more leg room, but, did any of you guys and renuka spotted the under thigh support of both. XE seems to be perfect but the c-class was a meh at best..!
i completely agree with the verdict! the XE is meant to be driven and the merc is meant to be driven around in! i liked the old C class better, it looked distinct (new 1 looks like the S class) and it was really good! but the british have hit hard on the germans by introducing this beast, the XE! i feel its a much better car than the C class, looks better, rides better and definitely goes better! i am inclined more towards jag even though love the merc( maybe because somewhere jag is owned by TATA) but yes if i had the money i would go for the Jag!! it would set you apart!

Yup, but only if they were priced a bit more aggressively
people would buy a petrol in this segment only if they cannot afford a diesel or if they are "environmentally conscious". For the price diff, one would get a C class diesel which has more poke and better drive dynamics in an Indian context. True story..

Most reviews put XE R-Sport ahead of 3 Series M-Sport for handling. Got to love those BMW engines though!
Question, the driver when you're at the back, how tall is he? I've sat at the back of the XE before. Not suitable for anyone above 150cm
she is probably 5 feet tall (150 cm)
and driver maybe 5 2"..4"
Drove xe diesel its better as drivers car suspensions eats all bumps and potholes like a piece of cake
they should have got the c250d

jargon 2130 ride quality at the back is better on the xe so for the passenger point consider this too .

Edit: Jaguar XJ is considered the best Luxury car you can get, not unlike the cheap Mercedes, Merc does make good cars but they are soulless :)

The Jag is pathetic, has no features, cabin is way too boring, full of cheap quality plastics, the C200 offers features, quality, looks as well as performance, a smart person would always choose the C200 over the Jag
