I forgot Petey was in this game. They need to start bringing him back into the spinoff games as a playable character again, notably Mario Kart.
I always thought he was too big and clunky to be in spin-off games, but I guess if Ridley can be in Super Smash Bros, Petey Piranha can be in sports games.

No uniqueness to it at all. The only thing that was cool was the zone ability and that's it.
Anime Big Boi it's the same shit with this game. You have 1 special that reaches for the ball and another that hits the ball "slightly" harder. Get your nostalgia goggles off and realize this game hasn't aged well with the gameplay.

Wario uses an Ultra Hand for his defensive power shot. The Ultra Hand is an old Nintendo toy that was made before Nintendo started making video games!
Wario uses the ultra hand in wario master of disguise but with a punching glove on it

Ahh... back when Bowser Jr. used his legs instead of the clown car. Also kinda odd that they have both Koopa/Shy Guy as well as their flying variants instead of just one varient, but maybe I just think that because of Mario Hoops only having the flying versions.
Also, why does Koopa have a water element? I get he's a turtle but they aren't associated with the sea in Mario games.
If anything, Koopa Troopas should be associated with lava.

I am still trying to figure out why Waluigi is swimming so much.

Just a minor artistic liberty to give the character something, although Koopa Troopa is often associated with the beach in spin offs, so water is not far off really.
These are so much more unique and fun than the trick shots and special shots in Aces
Ariana Mediana the ppl who says Aces are better than Power Tennis are more likely the younger new gen who haven't been exposed to Power Tennis. Power Tennis actually had variety and strategy.
Aces have little mini animations of jumping high into the air to spike the ball. I don't see how that's cool tbh.
It's the same shit. These specials just hit the ball "slightly" harder or just reach for the ball. Take your nostalgia goggles off and realize this game didn't age well with its gameplay. Theres no strategy in Power Tennis, unlike in Aces.
That is where you are wrong, while both games have strategy and Aces has more technical and reflex based aspects power tennis and its power shots did have a fair share of depth for example peach's defensive power shot would lead to a return that would go over an opponent who was highly engaged in net play which made it difficult to return without using a power shot of their own, the difference in each characters shots and knowing when to use them and when to reserve them could be very influential on the outcome of a match.

This is the best mario sports game. It was so unique. This game has real gameplay instead of ultra focusing on graphics instead the gameplay.
Comparing ultra with this, this game was fcking perfect. I grew up playing this game 💖

And one more thing, that song is called 'Tournament: Semi-final Match' from "Mario Tennis" (Not this series, but the first one on N64).
Nobody knows this but when I was younger ( Movie Gallery still existed i rented the game) and I tried to copy some of the power moves myself only as humanly possible. :) lol

Tip for returning Bowser Jr's offensive power shot without using your defensive power shot: the real ball is always in the middle and the ones on the left and right are the fakes!

God, this game was my childhood! Not only the animations are so much fun, but the voice acting and sound effects are bringing lots of happy memories ☺️

You know, it would have been REALLY interesting if Wiggler's specials changed his attributes for the rest of the game (Game as in Love-15-30-40-Game not the whole match) or when he uses another special. I recall him being a Technical/Technique character. Maybe becoming Angry makes him a Power or Speed character (probably speed) and becoming Flutter makes him Tricky.

Honestly, Open was fun but was very vanilla due to a lack of modes. Yet Ultra Smash (despite having the same amazing controls) has LESS MODES! Why?
64 = 8\10 A solid and super fun tennis adventure!
Power = 10\10 It's 64 but. . .Better!!!
Open = 7\10 A good handheld edition but not as good as the others.

The Power Shots ingest personality into Mario sports games.
Mario Power Tennis had some really special Power Shots, with my favorite being Wiggler's Anger Management.
Other standouts include Yoshi's Rolling Egg Return (complete with palette swaps), Bowser Jr.'s Magic Paint, and Paratroopa's Energy Ball.
I also dig Wario and Waluigi flashing their symbols during the Ultra Hand Return and Whirluigi specials, respectively. When I was younger, I physically jumped out of my seat to mimic Waluigi's pose...
I can't wait to see the Power Shots in Mario Tennis Aces!

GattlingCombo Maybe Ultra Smash was just made to be another Mario Tennis game. You CAN get Power Tennis for the Wii-U since there's a Wii version already.
