  • Hey guys! We love DIYing stuff, so we thought why not get into the spirit of tie-dying. It was super easy and affordable so definitely give it a try! We enjoyed making this video and hope y'all liked it! Thank y'all so much for watching and until next Monday! Love y'all!

    PRODUCTS WE USED:
    -White t-shirt
    -Rit dye:www.target.com...
    -Rubber bands
    -Squeeze container (we used water bottles)
    -2 cups of hot water
    -2 cups of cold water
    Step-by-step
    1. Think of design you're going for and look up how to place the rubber bands accordingly
    2. Prepare your rit dye by putting as much as you want into the container with the hot water. The more dye color you pour the more vibrant the color will be.
    3. Start painting your white t shirt with the dye
    4. Let it rest for 30 minutes then microwave it for 30 seconds
    5. Pour the cold water on the shirt
    6. Wait thirty minutes
    7. Wash and enjoy! :)

    I’m pretty sure usually people say that you have to get the item or a shirt wet first before you put the dye so it actually soaks in instead of rolling off

    Made a really cool fleece blanket for my niece with blue and red using a traditional tie dye method, wash and rinse then sit in doda ash, 48 hours in seran wrap after the rinse the red and blue faded to a beautiful purple and pink and kept all details of tie dye look, highly recommend trying it

      Right, you want to wash it and leave it wet (or wet it again when you are ready to tie-dye it) because most new shirts will have "sizing" on them to make them hang better in the store and resist stains. The sizing also makes the dye roll off. If it's a shirt you've had for a while, still wash it because fabric softener can do the same thing. ;)

    Hi! Do you have any tips on how to make the white spots stay white during the wash?

    • @zuri.valdez
      @zuri.valdez  4 года назад

      When we washed them the white spots didn’t get any color on them but I think what helps is to wash the shirt with really cold water after

    • @kierasaurusfrost
      @kierasaurusfrost 4 года назад +2

      That’s what rinsing it with cold water before running it through the washing machine is for! If you put the pieces in the washer without rinsing the excess dye out, that excess dye can pool in the washer and get all over the parts you wanted to leave white. So rinse first, then wash! Also, be careful what you set the shirts on after washing. They can bleed when they are still wet (but they won’t do it once you’ve worn and washed them a few times)
