My gf bought tickets to Mufasa at the wrong theater and we had no idea until we tried to enter the theater so we had to scramble to watch something at this theater and better man was the only movie in english at the theater we were at on vacation. We had no idea what this movie was or who take that or robbie williams was and we were both so happy this mistake happened. We both loved this movie and glad this mistake happened because if it hadn't we definitely would have never seen this movie.
Just watched this at a Mystery Movie tonight and WOW! Completely blown away by this one, can’t remember the last time I left a theater feeling so satisfied, overwhelmed, etc. Beautiful film.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I've saw a lot of people were refunding their tix tonight... they truly missed out! I'm seeing it again this week and can't wait!
My gosh, what a nice review to listen to. You speak in a normal, relaxed voice. No shouting, no frenzied edits, just you talking about the movie. This is a rarity amongst RUclipsrs these days. Really nice. Subscribed!
I’m a Robbie Williams fan. He’s HUGE overseas, but I’m glad that he was not as big in the USA because he would probably be dead now. Actually, he lives in LA because he is considered to be an “unknown” here. Wow. Check out his famous album “The ego has landed.” You may become a new fan.
Crap movie He thinks he is king of the cabaret he forgot about Micheal buble ! He doesn’t include the part where he goes back to take that ! Self indulgent bs
Do you know why he never tours in the US? He was incredibly popular with a lot of people I remember back 2004-2010, but he never toured that I know of…not even a few shows..it’s strange..just curious..
@@cuntking2965 the movie ended not long after knebworth. He had not gone back to take that yet, and it doesnt focus on how big he still was after knebworth, people just love to hate him. He is cocky and sure of himself and lots of people cant handle that. So his reunion was 7 years later. Who knows, maybe he will do a sequel about the rest of his career, but the movie was obviously about him striving to get to knebworth.
good review I am so sick of the Who is Robbie? I mean would they be making a film about him if he was not hugely popular? we watch us films all the time I have never heard of the person its about but I would not ask that question I watch the film to find out
Those captivating, beautiful eyes... those are really Robbie's CGI'd in. 😍 And that curvy "London street?"... the famous Regent Street that's owned by The Royal Family, where they really filmed over 4 nights. 😊
wonderful review for a wonderful film… had the great joy of working on 2 projects with RW and his brilliant mgmt so know firsthand that he very intentionally chose not to try & break America back in the day (much to the despair of his US label) - it will be interesting to see if his lack of name recognition stateside hinders this film or if - as yr review perfectly spotlights - Michael Gacy’s rep and positive reactions to the movie win audiences over… i’m a Robbie fan so knew i wld like it, his soul-searching lyrics & melodies hv long been a shining highlight to his immeasurable talent, but even i was surprised how much of an emotional rollercoaster it turned out to be and an artful commentary on the isolation, depression & addictions many stars succumb to when finding fame & fortune at such a young age… bravo on yr review of a film that cld not be more highly recommended! 🌟🙌🏼
I think this movie will finally help Robbie Williams' music get noticed again here in the States for the first time in over 30 years, if the film is successful.
Can't believe Americans don't have a clue of who he is. I'm from South America and here he's widely known not only for one hit but for dozens of it. Looking forward to its premiere in theaters here at the end of January.
He's my favorite Male Recording Artist. Loved Him since 1997 when I first saw the video for Millennium. So dynamic and charismatic. Going to see it on Monday.
Great review and glad to know you liked the movie so much! Will be interesting how many countries will like this story. My opinion - it's a very honest, creative and touchable movie with amazing work by Michael Gracey! Great portrait of Robbie he did.
Watched it last night, great film definitely worth a watch. The chimp idea playing Robbie Williams is a revelation. Great film definitely worth, even if like me you’re not a fan of his music.
Thanks so much for the great review. I think all this needs in America is good word of mouth & the populaity will spread. It's certainly the best biopic I've ever seen & one of the most fun movies ever! I've been patiently awaiting all these years for a film about The Who, but no. Roger Daltrey has been trying to get together a movie on Keith Moon without success for decades. What's ironic is that back in the '90s, he stated that Robbie Williams would be petfect for the role! That was back when Rob left Take That, gained weight & was heavy into drugs & drinking.
Don’t think that a film like this would break Robbo in the colonies. The only ones who would be buying tickets are those who already buy into RW’s peculiarly British brand of self-deprecation
Americans - with all due respect to those who see beyond their own navel - think that what has not been massive in their country does not exist. Take That is one of the most successful British groups since the Beatles and Robbie, in his solo career, is an icon of music in Europe, South America and also with great relevance in Australia. I love your review, thank you
I love Robbie and I loved rhe movie! I didn't even felt the 2 hours passing from how good it is. Watched the movie twice already. Robbie not shy from the truth at all and this what makes his biopic better than other when all gets half truths and sugarcoated. Thank you for the amazing review 😊
One of the best movies I’ve watched in years. And I’m super proud of what Rob has become being from the same town in Stoke on Trent England. I was born about half a mile from Rob near to our local football club Port Vale. Back in the 80s I used to drink in robs mum and dads pub, the red lion Burslem. Did you know Rob and Lemmy from Motörhead lived in the same town ? Great review glad you enjoyed a bit of a Stoke hero.
British music is the best in the world- this from an Australian- feel and cone un done are classics - Robbie Williams fulled the void left by oasis who are thankfully back nowv
It’s interesting that you found some fault with the Rock DJ street scene. I haven’t seen the movie yet, just a clip from that scene, and I noticed that Robbie (well the monkey) wasn’t quite lip syncing that well, yet that whole sequence has been pretty widely praised in other reviews. I suspect I will feel the same as you when I finally see the whole sequence, but I’m thinking the overall spectacle of it will be a larger takeaway than the imperfections. I mean, how do you pull off a scene like that with as much CGI? Sounds like they pulled it off as well as possible.
The scene itself is extremely entertaining and creatively executed, but that also doesn't negate the slightly wonky CGI. This scene didn't impact the overall feeling of the film in a negative way, but instead added to the excitement.
Great video review. I like Robbie Williams and was very sceptical about seeing this, however this was brilliant. I feel you need to be a fan of the music to appreciate it to get the best enjoyment. My idol I would love to see would be Meatloaf. I know there was a made for tv film years ago but could be revived
I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t include the story he told on the Graham Norton Show about waking up in his bedroom in a castle where he was recording, to find that the room was being cleaned by a woman who turned out not to be a member of the staff!
The reviews and RT score are higher for Betterman than for Den of thieves 2 but DOT 2 is making the money what gives ? 🤷 As for me I don't know who Robbie Williams is but I'm interested in seeing this movie because of the Singing Monkey Aspect 😀 I'll try to go this weekend if I can 👍
Yes, the drug addicted, sex addicted musician biopic is a story we've heard a thousand times, but this movie's CGI monkey "gimmick" makes it feel more original. The animated dream sequences really give you an insight into Robbie's inner dialogue.
I don't know this movie is about Robbie Williams but when i see title better man... Only one song came in my mind and i guessed it. Well this movie is for 90s kid, new generation ..... I say nothing we already knows.
Saw it today. Absolutely stunning film. You Americans really need to check him out lol. He's got some absolute bangers (a number of which are featured in the film, and sound incredible)
During the trailer when I saw he'd have a love interest I started thinking... You and me baby we ain't nothing but mammals so we should do it like they do it on the Discovery Channel.
Sorry, this looks ridiculous. I never understood why Robbie Williams had zero impact in the states, when those less talented were. But if thinking this film gimmick was smart is an indication of what he’s about, then I do NOW.
@@rlfolder5437 I watched the movie and it's about as cliche written as any biopic ever. The themes are so repetitive and overt that if it was not for the cgi monkey, it would receive no buzz. It truly was a cheap gimmick to hide a poorly written, self-created biopic. Williams is an asshole.

Didn’t he move to Switzerland after the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown?
Come to think of it he even boasts of front row seat reservations at LA Lakers games…not very low-key ish

Good commentary btw! 🤗
Just loved this movie!
I'd like to see a musical bio of Dion Dimucci
I loved it
A merle haggard movie would be cool
Want to see biopic of Robert Smith and Till Lindemann, btw this movie is the best of 2024. for me
Cool

Pat Benatar
Everything Robbie Williams does is contrived attention seeking
