Good first show! New subscriber here. Many of us will listen to all the great Saints podcasts though, so recommend you add different weekly features/focuses so the content isn't a repeat of TSP.

Totally support this comment. Ive stopped listening to some of them tbh and I'm down to two: tsp and itn. TSP has a much more professional edge and a journalist-leaning style and ITN is more mate/friendly but they also give cultural updates and tactical insights. Think about what you can niche on. Maybe more fan voices and audience participation?
Audience participation a great shout, and a differentiator. Could you thread through mini clips of the games/goals between your analysis? Or even just photos to talk to? Surely as they're published by BT/SKY to RUclips you can show then them with a verbal aknowledgement to the broadcaster/owner? Some statistics on screen (e.g., a league table, or shots/tackles etc.) would be cool. Obviously, if you could bring former players/managers/staff in for chats every so often that'd be interesting.
Maybe start with a single question or topic. Right now you're running through the same talking points everyone with a podcast does. While you may offer something new, the format isn't. Maybe decide to focus on one big question or hook (was Russel Martin to blame? Is sports Republic out their depth? Will juric last the season? Or discuss that viral video with Armstrong and the shirt). Have an initial chat with your insight/knowledge/data but line up 3-4 saints fans ready to speak/call in to fire up a debate. Reply to comments in the chat. Get a sense for the conversation and opinion. Then maybe at the end stick a poll out of the answer to the question to see if opinion has changed? I think this would really really stand out as something original...people LOVE sharing their opinion so getting an actual "debate" going rather than a fire side chat could be key. Apologies if my advice is unsolicited but I'm a producer and always have this mindset on.

I really enjoyed the show, will be watching in the future. Have been a saints fan since the fifties and have had some really great times and some really bad times but that is the saints. I am an old fart now sadly I think we will be in the championship for three or four seasons. I hope I am wrong. Good luck with the show lads.
Our problems start with the management and owners. That needs to be addressed. Also I’m not sure about Duric. It looks like Sean Dyche might be available soon!
If/when we get relegated, I personally can’t see Jurić being in charge for a championship season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the board go after Röhl.

Do they teach the strikers to shoot at the goalkeepers and rely on inaccuracy to take it away from the goalie? (See 90% of Che Adams' chances and the rest) Also no goals from how many corners now? 80+" Thoughts?
Hey Stuart - appreciate the comment! I think, if I’m honest, we have to look at the whole attacking set up. Literally top to bottom. Recruitment is poor for attacking players. We seem to be unable to find someone consistent let along electrifying. Matt Fernandez might be an exception. The set up and attitude on the pitch is all wrong. Now. This might be down to players. But for it to be the same week in week out you have to look at coaching, strategy and tactics. Look at when dibling makes a run. No one is making runs and pulling opposition players, nor are they even looking for the ball. As for shooting, we’re not even taking a shot. So we can’t rely on the lore of averages. With 1-2 shots on target per game, you need clinical lethality. We don’t have it. And set pieces are a waste of time for us. We look clueless. But even the delivery is poor, and that’s under no pressure.
At this stage I would say keep the money in the pocket for the summer rather than chase the league or try and be clever. From experience with Watford you rarely get anything worth it in jan and van waste a lot of money on poor players
I think, if we’re going to spend anything in January, we need to be looking at some of the better championship players - but only to strengthen for next season. Panic buying to try and save this season will be nothing more than a waste of money.
I’d largely agree with the lucky to go up sentiment. We were both there at Wembley, it wasn’t a great game but it was a great day. But I don’t think we were ready to come straight back to the prem.
Why is Joe Aribo so unfit? He’s not the only one! Worst performance for a long time! Very impressed with Brentford but they didn’t need to be brilliant
The fitness of the whole squad at this stage in the season is very concerning for me personally. We always look half a hard off the pace. We never look like we’re going to compete. We should be prime match fit right now.
I accept it in the premier league. I accept that we’ll probably get beat by Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal etc. but I only accept that if we show fight. Real actual fight. You never know, sometimes it means you pull a result out of the bag.
Why can’t we compete with the top teams…..we have always been the poor relations …..but we have bollo’s the size of an elephant……not bothered by fancy boys….points mean we fight. Win lose or draw.

As a long time Saints fan following them through thin and even thinner I am not expecting great things from the rest of the season but there is always hope.
Take how frustrated and downcast you feel about Saints right now... transplant that into the head of one of these players. It's too simple analysis to say the players did not try against Brentford. I would say that the players are low on confidence, frustrated as hell and caught between two tactical systems - the one some of them have been recruited by and trained in for 18 months, and the one Juric instructed which Brentford unpicked with ease. When you're failing on that pitch, there's nowhere to hide. The perception that heads dropped and legs weren't doing the yards they should be is the symptom not the cause.
‘The symptom not the cause’ - love that quote. And agree with your point to a degree. I think regardless of what happened on Saturday, we need to see a solid response and have some more ‘encouragement’ from the team on the pitch over the next few weeks. Tactical changes etc may be confusing, but it doesn’t stop you putting in a tackle or running a bit more, but confidence can do that too.
Then let him speak. ps, As a matter of interest, are those your real legs ? No don’t answer that. Just concentrate on trying to get the podcast right 🙀

I think we were lucky to go up so no surprise we are going down…….defence bad because forwards are worse.

The only football worse than Southampton is Cardiff City football but its close.
