In 2007 my best friend died at 44 from multiple myeloma, a disease that rarely occurs in someone so young. As she was in the end stage of the disease, she hired a documentary film maker to create a video about her life to leave to her child. But she couldn't find an appropriate song for the film. After visiting her I jumped on the red-eye home with "The Story" in my carry on, purchased an hour earlier on the way to the airport. After listening on repeat the entire flight, I went directly to the Post Office and shipped the CD to her. She loved it and used it. When she died, two of her younger relatives sang "The Story" at her memorial service. It's among the most perfect songs ever created. Bless you Brandi!!!
My best friend also died from m myeloma at age 58 in 2017 We were friends since we were four years old. She fought so hard as I'm sure your friend did. That's beautiful about the song. Nice you were a part of her story.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your story. This will always be my all-time favorite Brandi song. I cry every time I watch her sing it in concert. Love and light to you. 💜
There’s only one Ms. BRANDI! So in awe of your talent, perseverance, and ability to connect with your audience. You’re as pure as it gets. Thank you for BEING YOU! ❤
This, IMO, is why Brandi is special. You felt as though she was speaking directly to you when reliving her beginning. Never mailed in, always feels fresh and isn't that what we look for in an artist or group? If not, then they should write a song like Ricky Nelson did when he wrote "Garden Party" (look that up if you don't know the story). Hopefully, for our sake, that won't ever happen. Thanks Brandi and thank you, Stacey for posting this.
Saw her in Portland on New Year’s 2022-2023…she made my soul leave my body was so FABULOUS & GENUINE. I’m SO THANKFUL she is in our world. And the Sista Strings…I met them in the airport the next day & they were sooooooooo appreciative of my gushing all over them & their incredible talent that Chantee actually cried! Such lovely ladies! I was so GRATEFUL they graciously gave me their time. Ahhhhhhhh what a perfect New Year! They even too a pic with me. 💜
I love 💕 Brandi been watching and listening to her along time ago feel like she’s my friend so happy for her Lovin het life with her wife girls and family I couldn’t get tickets that were sold out I pray and hope one day I will get to see and meet her and her family love you Brandi heart love love ❤❤❤❤
I first heard The Story from Brandi and was super impressed with it. She will always be the one I heard it from first but people need to look up Sara Rameriz from Grey's Anatomy sing it! She belts it out of the ball park!
Brandi I hope you enjoyed playing at the Peace Center in Greenville South Carolina and will come back I waiting to long to get tickets but Wynonna will be here soon tickets just came available can’t miss her love ❤️ you Brandi hope you come back for the ones that missed your shield ❤❤❤❤❤
I have been watching Brandi for many years now! Almost feel I helped discover her. She is so special. Burlington Bill here, singer songwriter ( Sailing to Freedom, episode 265 on Sailing into Freedom here on you tube).
5:09 blah blah blah she died of a rare sarcoma, a disease that rarely occurs in someone so old. We held her hand as she passed. Her husband was the best man at my wedding to quite possibly the worst human being I have ever met. 8:06 *sucker*
beautiful song Brandi !

That is so heartbreaking. So sorry for your loss and her poor child.
Phil Hanseroth masterpiece - and of course Brandi Carlile is simply amazing.
Brandi is such an amazing talent! She’s really incredible and I believe the twins are a big part of her success.
What a powerwoman she is!!! Just by herself… this is beyond! When she opens her mouth she blows away everyone! Unreal. ❤️❤️

Brandi is such a complete artist, revered by her peers and fans alike, with a voice that gets right into the listeners very being!
Love this song, love the intro, and of course . . .love Brandi Carlile!
She can knock bricks off of buildings with her voice! And I mean that in a very positive way!
What a voice. Sends chills down my spine.

I hope that one day Brandi will perform in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I would be front row centre! 😊👍❤️
Thanks for the front row seat…I cry everytime I hear her voice…what a talent
Brandi NEVER disappoints! Her music is the shovel that is moving mountains, one scoop at a time. I stand next to her with my shovel, too.
Really neat to hear the background of the song and her first performance of it!

*WHY do people scream, talk, sing, whistle, clap, while someone is singing (or speaking)? SO rude and inconsiderate!*
My favourite Brandi song. ❤️
