  • These sensors are very cheap on banggood.com - are they any good? Are they genuine? Find out...
    Sorry for the low resolution, I didn't have time to correct it.
    Note, I didn't use parasitic mode so can't comment on that.

    Watched your video darren after seeing your comment on Nicks video on his educ8s channel. Always enjoy watching fellow Brits electronics/Arduino review videos. Seems like the Bangood sensors aer ok'ish! :)

      Thanks John, lots of good channels out there, filling the gap that normal TV has.

      Absolutely Darren. Are you planning on doing more? I bagged a bargain cheap rotary tool earlier this week, only a throw-away one it was so cheap. I might do a video of opening and reviewing that.

      You should, a lot of cheap items are a mystery until they arrive so it's informative to other people. I have a few more items i might do in the same vein - cheap chinese sourced goods vs those bought from the UK.

      Yep, absolutely right, people do like to read about the cheap Chinese equivalents though I think the one I bagged is from a UK supplier who imports then resells. As you mentioned you're going to possibly do some more reviews of these things, I'll subscribe to your channel. :)

      Thanks! I'll definitely make more since there's been interest.

    I've got 10 from Aliexpress. They take always 500 ms to get temperature, even with 9 bit resolution. I guess they are fake. We need them for a battery supplied sensor so I need the shortest measure time.

      It's been a while since I played with these but I seem to remember that there's a speed difference based on whether they are parasitic powered or not? The other thing I ended up doing was taking out the delay and replacing with a while loop like so:
      while (ds.read() == 0) { }
      I don't know how fast it was in the end but that was what I ended up with in my code.

      @@Tarbard Definitely it's this unit. I've tried another older one I have. It works as data sheet states. I've ordered 10 more from a different supplier. I cross my fingers
