Dollip's decision to make Riku the most normal and sane guy in Kingdom Hearts is possibly the best decision in the whole dub.

Piglet probably would have won that category if it weren't for his murderous hatred of Eeyore.

Riku in this dub is like the polar opposite of Sora in this dub.
Sora believes absolutely everything adults tell him and thinks that it will all work out as long as he does what he is told.
Riku has met so many adults who do not know what they are doing that he no longer believes a single thing they say.

I didn't really think about it like that.
In a way this dub became about the relationship young people have with adults, and how adults fail young people sometimes, and how to handle it. So Riku isn't really the antagonist per se, it's like someone who thinks we should never listen to adults because theyre all disfunctional versus someone who thinks all adults know perfectly what they are doing. Ans the truth is somewhere in the middle :)

@mrparticles8124 and in this world it's definitely closer to the riku end of that spectrum

I love how Captain Hook is smart enough to respect Riku’s boundaries and give him space when he’s having a panic attack.

Despite his belief (True?) that Smee was puppeting him, he was actually the most helpful and thoughtful of all the weird adults Riku had to deal with.

Maybe my favourite character in the dub. Like everyone else is great too but Dollip’s deliveries are just… so so good, every time. Especially her chemistry with Penny’s Malefecent. So glad this was my introduction to Riku as a character lmao.

Dollip’s introduction with Riku was so perfect, I was bought in immediately. Her delivery matched up so well with Riku’s animation. I wouldn’t want it be anyone else.

What I love about Riku is that usually in these dubs, everyone is encouraged to 'yes and' each other, but instead Riku comes along to flip the script with the occasional "actually no," forcing the other actors to either double down on their bullshit or forcibly have their character concede and pivot. Even a character who has done nothing wrong like Jenny's Captain Hook - who just wants to find a way to free both Riku and himself of their subordinate roles -just gets completely and utterly shut down. Its such an subversive technique that only works due to how much trust Dollip has in fellow actors to adapt.

The real goal of improv is to defeat the other participants

The “yes and” rule is isn’t a literal “yes” (aka you don’t always have to agree with their previous statements), it’s more like “don’t shut down the last statement said” or “affirm what they said and add on or change things”. Dollip does this beautifully. It’s not an anti-improv technique, it’s Dollip going even DEEPER into the “yes and” by daring to go “ok I hear you but this would be so much funnier”

I believe the WayneRadio improv style is “No, fuck you” and it works so well. It’s definitely seen throughout the dub. But that’s also good improv in general, it’s knowing whether “yes and” or “no f you” is funnier on instinct. Push pull kinda thing

She also said she wanted to 'yes, and' Jenny during the puppet scene but didn't really get a chance to say anything aside from "oh my God man, ugh"

The moment i was so sold on Dollip's Riku was when Sophie didn't realize Kairi was talking and slightly going out of character, but Dollip instantly bringing it back in with the "I forgive you" was genuinely perfect and made me cry laughing
