im not happy with him the last two seasons tbh.. he is way to impatient on the ball and he hits far to many crosses blindly into the box.. rarely finding his team mates. Also i dont see him passing his man much either, he just tends to run into them.

Yes . Martinelli needs to keep his head up and look for players around him in the final pass. His head is usually down at the ball and losing the focus on players around him.

Wont happen if anything his decision making is getting worse over time. He’s still a valuable player in open games but those are getting more and more rare for us. I wouldn’t sell him but his future is as a backup.

I totally agree with your assessment and rating of Haverts. He was brilliant in positioning himself in great areas and stretching the defense. It was his decision making when he had the ball that was the problem. And I think the central defense partnership of Arsenal is working so well. Saliba had a stinker in the first game and was bailed out by Gabby. The opposite happened in the second.

I think he's been doubled up on saka when through this for a while but he's managed to come through it and he's a better player for it. He just needs to learn to deal with being doubled up on and when beating opposing fullback his cross needs to be better. His cutbacks are on point he just needs to be a little less predictable.

Thomas Partey is significant to the Arsenal midfield. Honestly, we would have lost this game without Partey yesterday. Last season, we lost both away and home games against Villa without Partey as well. The importance of Partey to this Arsenal side is often undermined these days. This is probably due to the arrival of Declan Rice.

I agree with Artetta's selection of Martinelli in this match. His work softened up Villas defence. Trossard is a little slow, which is why he is such a wonderful player in the tire phase of the match (65 mins onwards). I know that he should not be satisfied by this role, but he looked ordinary pretty much every time he started last term.

    Hi Charles
What do you think we can realistically expect to happen in the rest of window?
    For me:
    - Merino comes in and Eddie leaves to Nottingham as planed
    - Ramsdale leaves on loan, Juan Garcia comes in
    - Kiwior and Tierney leave on loan
    - We get a forward in on loan (Coman or Sterling) or we buy Raphinha and Nelson leaves on loan accordingly, if there is interest
Not what I want, but what I expect. Maybe it's few deals too many given the short time left

Good day sir Charles.tough but nice victory yesterday. Looking at Trossard's impact, why are we constantly giving Martinelli opportunities when we have a proven performer in Trossard? Whenever he starts we are quick to point out areas in his game that we consider weak but somehow gloss over martinelli's challenges. For me Trossard starts every game and I am wondering if Martinelli has hit that proverbial ceiling. It's still early in the season but his decision making still hasn't improved in the final 3rd. Let's start Leandro next game

Hey Charles, found Arteta's post match interview interesting especially on the depth around the attacking players. I think what Arteta said should be some sort of message to the board and Edu that we definitely lack options upfront. The game against Villa wasn't bad but we had some difficult time when attacking and missed some clinical speed. What the fans thought we lack and Arteta said in his interview means this is some serious problems that needs to be solved before the window ends.

Couldn't agree more about that Ramsdale save v Maddison. I remember exactly where I was when I saw that (which speaks volumes for me as an international fan who watches games at all hours and in all types of random places). Best save I've seen an arsenal player make, but that Raya one was certainly up there.
On Ramsdale, the longer the window drags on without concrete links the longer I get the feeling we'll see him in an Arsenal shirt for one more season. What do you think is the most likely outcome for Ramsdale this window?

Trossard is not the same player when he starts, he is - unfortunately - a "super" sub. Liverpool in their heyday had Chris Fairclough. Main concern from yesterday is that Arsenal are too slow in build up. They play through press, then pass backward, and have to do it again, and again. Remember when we used pace, like Pires, Ljungberg, Henry. Martinelli has that pace, but we do not make best use of it.

I don’t understand why both the player and the club aren’t working on improving his (Martinelli) decisions in the final third.
If he’s most efficient in the center let him ghost into the 16 yards and if he can be efficient on the right, use him as a back up option to Saka.
I think there’s a player in there he just needs to sort his feet out.

Good to hear the Jesus recovers quickly, when fit he is a fantastic player. However he has to recover quickly because he gets injured a lot. Kai is doing a great job, his work rate is unsurpassed. Take him and Gabby out and the cupboard is bare at the level we need. Leo, what an impact for not the first time, but Reiss also played well. Finally Timber, with Riccardo available to come in a left back, I believe Timber could be an effective holding midfield player and competition for Partey and White. Really happy with our defensive options but we do need that extra striker. Calvert-Lewis?

Hey Charlie! Agreed on most things you said, but ‘5’ for Haverts. I think you must have been chatting, or posting on ‘X’! Havertz not only adds to Arsenal, he has like a sixth sense when it comes to his off the ball work. He limits opposition midfielders to backwards balls or risky dinks. I think this is why Arteta continued to play him last season even when he wasn’t scoring. And that turned out nice!

  • @davewilloughby5773
    @davewilloughby5773 2 месяца назад

This weekend showed that we are certainly light on attacking depth. I like Havertz, but if he is having an off week going forward like he did yesterday, we are going to need another option. If the price is right, getting Toney on a 2 or 2+1 year contract might be a good piece of late transfer window business. We already know he'd like to play for us, and if there are question marks about Jesus, we are going to need somebody who can provide some more firepower. We can still sell Eddie (which has to happen this window) then Reese and Jesus can provide us with options out wide.

Gabriel as again when pressed gives a opportunity to Aston Villa, we were lucky that Watkins failed to take the opportunity, Marteneli is also not in his prime. Passing too was a let down by Arsenal standards. Also defence splitting passes in final 3rd was missing. Partey is a bit slow n didn't take those initiative. Raya,Saliba, Oddegard (although he missed a sitter in the fag end) were excellent. Trodsard placement was fantastic. He should start. But getting Nelson as a sub was a surprise to me. The most underrated attribute in football is fitness/availability. No matter how tremendous a player is, it is if no significance if he cannot be depended on to be available. Partey is in that same boat. Nketiah should get his well deserved move and we should get another forward option while the window is still open. Rice has I think in Charles’ player ratings had 2 6s so far. I reckon he had about 3 in the whole of last season. No it’s not a catastrophic drop off, but for such a consistent player he is below his best. Has he had a big enough of a break after so many games for England and Arsenal last season and West Ham the year before, seems a reasonable Q to ask. Maybe missing the first game and having an extra week of holiday would’ve been a better long term move.

Except we were absolutely seriously in for Sesko - if he had said yes we'd have a new forward already.
People are missing the point that it's not just about getting *A* player any more but getting the RIGHT player - and rightly so.

I don't think Leo should be starting based on his anger, mikel should be making his decision based on the formation, Leo has started games where he didn't play well, so mikel should be in charge. Martinelli has to up his game. we know he has all he needs to be a top top player, and I know he will turn up.

Trossard needs to be a super sub, we lack a lot when he starts but when he comes off the bench he brings energy and precision! Need an attacking upgrade imo,Williams is the dream but I feel like Coman would also be a massive coup!

How does Havertz gets a 5 and Odegaard gets a 7. You know when Odegaard has a poor game, nothing is said about him or he pressed a lot lol. Kai was linking up and making plays all over the pitch, his intelligence showed

And why don't you begin giving a rating for the coach's performance of the game also.

To not buy another striker is negligence and serious lack for foresight for the future Jesus is very injury prone and Havertz can’t play every game. We need a saka backup, Martinelli is off form and trossard competing for his position we are clearly 2 players short upfront. What are we doing!!!!

There is a lack of appreciation for hard work on this channel. Players like Havertz and Martinelli work their socks off. How do you see that as 4 and 5 (especially away from home)? Players like Martinelli, Odegaard and Havertz put in so much effort in a game, even if they do not score or assist you have to appreciate the work they do pressing, covering back etc imo.

We need a forward 100% , we were ok yesterday but sticks out like a sore thumb we need a focal point when teams press us at the back and cover the midfield options, Havertz does well but he comes too short sometimes & that makes us get stuck in the build up ,
i don't think Villa we're great yesterday despite all the fuss, i thought they we're disappointing at home as they we're last year but they got the result last year this time the one trick pony method of waiting for our mistakes and keeping it tight did'nt work, yes they had 1 glaring miss from Watkins & maybe the save from RAYA but other than that i thought they we're poor considering the investment & Villa we're at home! if Arsenal played that way at home we would be Lambasted from pillar to post, we deserved the win end of & to those who still think Emery was better at Arsenal than Arteta, just remember the ueafa cup final against the chavs, AWFUL as was the rest of that season

Charles been a fan for a while but 1st time to comment on your video appreciate your videos makes me wanna make my own but serious question is if we need a forward/winger why weren't we in for desire doue before he went to PSG this season looked like the next Eden hazard did you hear any rumours that we were in for him looked the perfect player to fill that role especially at 19 years old suprised nobody at the club had any complaints about him going to PSG etc

On incoming transfers, while I’m all about long term planning, I think there are 2 questions you’ve got to now go back to. We tried to sign Sesko and Williams this summer as our top targets. Both had opportunities to come and didn’t.
    1. How settled are we on those players as our best long term options?
    2. How good is the chance of signing them next summer?
If we aren’t pretty confident on both fronts, we need to reassess options now. On Williams, my worry is he wants to go to Barca and play opposite Yamal - are we holding out for a player we’re unlikely to get anyway?
Might be time for plan B.

Jesus is a pain in the arse, every season he picks up an injury sometimes more than one. We should sell him bring in Gyokeres and/or make a play for Serge Gnabry at Bayern potential cash plus player (zinchenko) deal.

Hello Charles - weirdly I think this is perfect timing for Jesus to pick up the injury as its still at a time we can act in the market
If it would have been at the end of next week we would be screwed
I also agree with you on Eddie but would extend that now to Gabby - not only is he not the answer longterm for us but this just shows that we can't over rely on his fitness so we have to get someone in as we are short but also the quality to take us another level above Eddie & Jesus
I've always felt we would get a winger(s) and save the striker for next season when we can go all in on Isak however now I feel we can still get a grade A level striker for this season to bolster our ranks and then still have room for Isak next season
They must have something planned if letting Viera and Eddie go and Jesus injured
Arteta even admitted in his press conference we are short so I do feel things will happen in this final week
    From Ben Randm🙏🏾💗🙌🏾

  • @FinsburyPhil
    @FinsburyPhil 2 месяца назад

Quicker transition remains our issue. A PPDA of 6.3 shows that we are breaking up play really well, but the high number of passes (518) tells the story that when this happens in our defensive third, it takes too many passes to move forward. Looking at our games, it seems that the problem is the pass out of the defensive line to the midfield. I think this is why Timber and Calafiori were bought. For all his defensive excellence, Gabriel takes too long on the ball and tends to always pass sideways. I'm sure that's been recognised and Calafiori will replace him over time. And Timber will be the starting left back.
