Warren you mentioned potential burn out a couple of times recently. Please don't overdo it for our benefit! We'd all rather have you doing this long term.Take it easy man :-) Ron from australia
I always enjoy your vids. I know lately you have been having camera problems. But here’s the thing I don’t mind. Sound or not. Voice over or you talking on the vid. I am still learning things from your vids that I didn’t know. Your a very thorough mechanic and very knowledgeable. Thanks for all your vids warren. Stay safe
Been watching you for good few months from the U K used to work spanners myself before retirement keep up the good work I like your approach to your work 👍🏻
adjusting overhead at regular intervals is so much more important than many people think. as the miles rack up, the clearance between the valve and the rocker gets tighter. the valve and the seat wear. this takes away from the clearance between the valve and the rocker. if the valve doesnt seal against the seat properly there is no way to transfer the heat on the valve to the head to be cooled. burnt valves can follow. if let go long enough it can cause premature valve train wear and ruin cam lobes..... among many other problems. i have run into many old school drivers and mechanics you understand this and know what to listen for. unfortunately, i have seen many mechanics that if the laptop or flow chart doesnt tell them what to do, they are lost. who wouldnt want to be warren's shadow for a few months? imagine what you could learn.
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS no doubt. The guy attacks every thing he does. I have 3 of these boat anchors with the same problem. Now I feel I can fix them on the cheap. Head gaskets and some elbow grease. Then we can get back to pumping fuel for the fleet.
Hello Warren , ive been watching your uploaded material for months now and i love it im interested in all vehicles machines tractors in fact anything with an engine in , you are very thorough in your videos sometimes maybe more than you need to be but hey its all very ineteresting you should give yourself a little break from recording on a regular basis after all you need to have a life and have lots of jobs to complete i dont think many of the individuals watching your footage realise this , i enjoy fixing things but dont posess a tenth of the knowledge you have and i lack confidence too but just keep up the good work and Work to live Not live to work . michael mason longtown ,carlisle cumbria england .
Great to see the 3208 CAT's ... no really... My dive boat cap had two of these things and man it was a major pain in the ass to keep them going. The only saving grace was we had tons of room to work on them, but the salt water air and 3208's it was a complete nightmare... risers, exhaust manifolds, blown head gaskets, transmission replacements and on and on and on... I earned my free dives on the SubSea Dive Charters - REEFLING in Jupiter Fl
It will be cool to see it fire up. I learn a lot from watching videos like yours. I don't know how to do that stuff. I will trust what you on how to do it . Thanks for sharing.
Some of your worst working conditions are in some of the prettiest locations. If it isn't the deep blue skies, the distant mountains ranges, the farm scenes and pastures distracting me then the dogs steal the show. I do better at listening to you when you are in your main shop and the doors are closed. As always, Thanks.
I had that happen on a 60 series gnerator in Alaska, our "mechanic" put a resurfaced head on and told me he did the valave lash. I ended up just doing an in-frame on it as it was older and needed alot of help after the cam got eaten up.
Sorry this pain in your arss hasn't been around but April showers brings ... MUD! Like you, I've have lots to do outside and my back is letting me know this spring ain't going to be easy. I'll try to stay tuned in.
The 60 series Detroit’s were amazing engines because exactly like you say run the valves every 50 to 60 thousand miles and you get a Million before an overhaul.
Chris Hill I agree but we had 209 in our fleet and tried to get it done that often because that’s what the owner expected. The twin pissers on the skits just about guaranteed 1,000,000 miles before an overhaul.
We Glidered a lot of FLDs into Coronados and ran them because of 7.5 mpg compared to the 6 mph at the time of the new regulation engines. That and X1 Michelin tires we were one of first company’s running a lot of them. We ended up stocking a few tires along our routes from Ohio to Portland.
Hey Warren, Mike and Steve here saying hello...we got our new exhaust manifold and adapter and had to drill it out to make it fit...if you would take a look at our RUclips video and tell us what you think...I mean will it work...or did we mess it up...we need to get the fuel filter system figured out and get the right parts ordered, we would like to run it by you before we order anything and all the lines for everything so we can put it together so you can help us when you get time...Thanks buddy...
Hey, Warren I like watching your videos. You are a jam up mechanic. I have a Ford F350, 6.0, Can you make a video on, how to prime a high-pressure oil pump. I replace the HPOP. And the IPR because it had a hole in the screen, So how do you bleed the oil system? In distress need help!!!.
I have a question Warren. When you're doing a head gasket and you have oil in your coolant and cooling system. What is your way to remove the oil from the engine cooling system including the radiator and Etc?
Gee Sss I worked at a dealer and we had lots of oil cooler ruptures and then a service campaign for the coolers. After a time we were instructed to use Cascade auto dishwasher soap. It worked great and didn’t require lengthy flushing to get suds to stop. It makes sense as auto dishwashers can’t use high sudsing soaps or it would run out on your kitchen floor but the soap has to be great at oil or dishes will be slimy.

This is what I like about your channel it's not sanitized it's like what actually happens when it happens.

How's that 5.9 Dodge diesel rebuild coming along ,did I miss a video on it maybe thanks enjoy your videos
Would have been fun to hear when you start the engines you have screwed with.
You amaze me with your skill set across the board! I would love to do a job with you! To busy working on my own junk! Lol
Man , the working conditions you have to put up with, your a pro!
I must watch too many videos of abandoned mines, because your intro had a wooden crate and I thought it was dynamite! Kaboom!

Intake on the cylinder head Looks similar to a 7.3 powerstroke, same firing order too

Don't you just love having to stand on your head to work on this thing.

Mine has been a goodun. 2000 pre-egr.
Coming from a fleet mechanic with about 43 Detroit powered trucks, you do not need to run the overhead on a series 60 every 50,000 miles.
Chris Hill I agree but we had 209 in our fleet and tried to get it done that often because that’s what the owner expected. The twin pissers on the skits just about guaranteed 1,000,000 miles before an overhaul.

A lot of time since i did this work on D8H 68 A and D9G/H
I would have been so mad at myself....although the less cylinders firing on a 3208 is not a bad thing....one less thing to break on it!!

Can't wait to hear this engine fire up....

If someone doesn’t like the way you do it they can always bid on the job.
How is the Grader doing?
Only left one injector, that’s a good day for me
Thank You Sir
Good job 👍🏻
👍🏻👍🏻!!!!
Why are they backwards
I find a dial indicator much easier to use than feelers and much more accurate to set lash. Just saying keep up the good work.
I've never heard of that.Didnt even know it was possible.
As you can probably guess i dont do mechanics for a living!
Warren
Did I hear you mention they had the loader sold ? Some countries are way smarter than the US. Keeping the engines simpler for repairs. 🤔
Those other countries also dont care about emissions. I agree simpler is better.
jeeze........... no ball cap? almost din't recognize ya.
👍
👍👍
Ouch.Leaning forward and down all day.I hate that aspect soooooo much!
