There are some words that are also used in the Filipino dialects because Indonesians are one of the Filipino ancestors. For example, the Indonesian word nasi is also the Kapampangan word for rice. I think the word bata meaning child or young is the same. Another word is kewali or fried has a similar Filipino word called kawali for frying pan.
This typical food from West Sumatra is made from meat and cooked in coconut milk until the sauce is dry. Survey results from CNN International said that rendang was ranked first in the World's 50 Delicious Food in 2011. Not only that, rendang was also recognized by UNESCO in 2013

The way i see it in the video, you are staying in the area which is not convenient for tourist, why don't you try to stay in the central Jakarta, in Particular in Jalan Kebon Sirih (Kebon sirih Street) or Jalan Wahid Hasyim (Wahid Hasyim Street), it will be a lot convenient there and nice neighbourhood, there are many nice 3 stars hotel there or even backpackers hotels also available
Rendang adalah menu masakan dari kota padang Indonesia...... Itu fakta bro.... Selamat menikmati keindahan Indonwsia dengan 17 ribu pulau dan 800 suku etnis serta bahasanya.... ❤😊
yep rendang ( read: ren - dunk) is that good. However eating rendang with only plain white rice does not do it justice. You must visit an authentic Padang Restaurant
Isaac just visit San Fernando Pampanga you can see the beautiful Christmas lantern and all Christmas decorations most probably you can make more activities for your content.
Aaakk icb you ate Rendang but not in Padang Restaurants 😭😭😭 you need to try the authentic rendang at Padanv Restaurants, where the dish came from!! And the indomie you talked about in the beginning, actually its not indomie. Its like indonesian ramen, its Mie Ayam. You need to try it! And Bakso too!! Also, you need to try our street foods, we have soooo many good street foods 🤤
I think I need to clarify a few things. Firstly, Rendang is not solely Indonesian food; Instead, the term "Indonesian dishes" serves as a broad umbrella encompassing the diverse ethnicities and cultures within our country. This concept might be challenging to grasp for those accustomed to a more monolithic culture, but Indonesia thrives as a multicultural society. Consequently, we often identify dishes by their specific ethnic or cultural origins, such as Batanese, Balinese, Padang, Menado, and various other tribes. While these all fall under the umbrella of Indonesian culture, we typically refer to them by their respective tribe names rather than simply as "Indonesian dishes." I'll delve into this further shortly. Secondly, due to Indonesia's rich cultural tapestry, our cuisine reflects significant diversity. The Rendang you recently tasted, for instance, is inherently Padang in nature. To experience the best Padang cuisine, it's advisable to visit a Padang restaurant. This principle applies to other foods as well. If you're seeking pork dishes, a Bataknese or Balinese restaurant would be the ideal choice, as they specialize in and serve pork dishes unique to their culture, like Babi Guling at Pak Made or Bu Niluh. Similarly, if you want to try Batak dishes such as Panggang Karo, establishments like Goyang Lidah or Ola Kisat would be suitable. There are also specific restaurants for Lombok, Makassar, Ujung Pandang, Medan, and more. The key is to identify restaurants based on their cultural affiliations and order accordingly. Opting for a generic Indonesian restaurant, like Munik, may not leave a favorable impression, as these establishments, though not bad, but tend to be jacks of all trades but masters of none. For an authentic experience of a particular dish, such as Rendang, it's essential to locate an establishment affiliated with the respective tribe, in this case, the Padang tribe. Numerous Padang restaurants, like Sederhana, Kari Bundo, Pagi Sore, and others, offer genuine rendang. This principle applies to nearly every dish in Indonesia. Each dish has its own cultural owners, and even if they share names, the taste can vary significantly. For example, Soto in a Betawi restaurant and a Java restaurant would differ markedly. Similarly, ordering Soto in a Padang restaurant might result in a distinct Padang version of the dish. While all these variations fall under the umbrella of Indonesian cuisine, referring to Soto as a generic Indonesian dish can be ambiguous. For example if you talk about soto as Indonesian dish, Indonesians often inquire about the specific ethnic origin of the Soto, as opposed to a choice between beef or chicken, as is common in monolithic cultures. Soto Betawi, Soto Kudus, Soto Semarang, Soto surabaya, soto lamongan, soto padang, soto makassar, and so on.
for foreigners it's enough for us to know that rendang is an indonesian dish. i always heard from the internet where you guys are having issues from food thieves like malaysia who always claim your food belongs to them.
@@runemidgard938 Indonesia is like Europe, with Javanese, Bataknese, Manadonese, Padangnese, etc., analogous to countries such as French, Italian, Swedish, etc. And that includes food, religon, habits, culture, language, and everything that makes them country. including UK as monarch. Yes, we have a monarch in Yogyakarta reigning over Yogyakartan people. Telling it as Indonesian dish, is like telling people that it is European dish instead of French dish or Italian dish. And getting rendang from Javanese for example, is like ordering a Spaghetti from a German. Well, it's not wrong, but you get the idea. As for Malaysian, well.. There are two things.. If you have tasted Malaysian rendang, it is essentially beef curry. That claim would confuse people. Some people today even thinks that there are two rendang types. There are not.. There is only one rendang, and the other is curry. Second, Malaysians appropriating Indonesian culture is like Brazilians releasing an album with Taylor Swift songs in Portuguese without giving credit. Imagine if you hear brazilian promoting their folk dance with "Shake it off" in portuguese, then telling people that it is their folk song. The hilarious thing is, that claim that they are cut of the same culture, while we, as fellow Indonesian, would not dare to claim so. One of the claimed song, was rooted in austronesian, while Malaysians are Melanesian in origin. Sumatra and some of Borneo are Melanesian; Moluccas, Papua, and eastern Indonesia are Austronesian. Their culture, language, and dishes are radically different that us in west Indonesia, even more so to Malaysia.
