    Interesting meters, thank you for showing them to us Tony. The red lines and numbers are the VSWR reading, read where the two needles cross. I used to adjust a beacon interrogater system VSWR monitor by connecting the transmitter 50 ohm output to a 75 ohm load - that gives a VSWR of exactly 1.5 : 1. Regards, David

      Thank you David, that is also nice information to know!

      @@gixerags750 A 50 ohm source connected to a 50 ohm load results in a perfect match and a VSWR of 1 to 1. Any other impedance load will result in a mismatch and the VSWR will be higher. At 75 ohms of load impedance in a 50 ohm system the VSWR will be 1.5 to 1. This is useful when testing or calibrating VSWR measuring circuits.

    If you ever thought about doing a precise cal, you can use a Boonton or HP RF Voltmeter, and a known precise 30 dB sampler to use with the probe, as the meters read 3 Vac RMS maximum. You simply apply the correct power to a good dummy load, measure the AC voltage at the load with the probe connected to the RF sampler's port, and convert the voltage to watts. That was how Drake calibrated their wattmeters at the factory.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  29 дней назад

      @@prepr8725 Yes its simular, but my experience with many different types Daiwa, if you did not replace any parts, the calibration is prob still good.

    Génial. Je ne savais pas qu'on pouvais inverser la connectique pour étalonner l'aiguille du ROS. Merci pour cette super video. Sur le RX-1000 il ya un tuner HF et un tuner VHF UHF. On peut donc monter 2 antennes sur différentes fréquences. Par contre c'est moins bon en terme de réglage. parce que le vumetre est commun aux 2 modes. même s'il ya un switch pour séparer les 2 la masse est commune aux 2. Je dis ça je dis rien...

    I have a nissei RS-101 meter and it underreads the forward power of my radio - how to I adjust it more accurately as the pods inside are not marked?

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  7 месяцев назад

      Hi, it usually has 2 pods for each range, forward and reflect, first try to find a schematic the RS-101 could also be a rebrand so check pictures on google and see what other brands also sell them en find maybe a schematic on those brands. if you can't find anything. start by marking the current positions of the post and then just try carefully, if you see no change, set it back as it was and try next.

    I’m not able to listen to the volume but I’m watching ,, I’ll watch the complete video tomorrow with audio ,, I’ve been looking at these Daiwa meters for a purchase ,, my question is ,, are they pretty close to the accuracy of a Bird 43 ? And if not , can you adjust/calibrate them to be ?

    any idea how to convert the rs-100 to cross needle?,i have one with a busted movement but a twin needle movent as a replacement but cant sus out how to alter the unit to fit it electricaly,cheers Paul m3vuv.73

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 года назад +1

      Maybe its not even that hard, the crossneedle is actualy 2 meters in one... on the SWR meter there is a FWD/REF switch... maybe its a matter of connecting both side of the switch to both meters.

    great video! thanks! a quick advice: does exist a similar meter with a huge frequency range and not only 2-150?

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 года назад

      Yes it does like the K-PO/Diamod/Maas RS-1000/SX-1000/AV-1000 they have a band switch and more then 1 RF-Tap. but it is a big compromize and are less accurate, i found out..
