  • When it comes to who identifies as #LGBTQ, there’s a generation divide in the United States. Studies show between 3 to 4.5 percent of adults identify as LGBTQ - compared to about 8 to 9 percent of teenagers.
If only we had an incredibly powerful tool to validate this trend across the #population.
The thing is, we do: it’s the U.S. census. But even its new and improved design makes it hard for us to understand matters of gender and sexual identity.
Kerith Conron of UCLA’s Williams Institute explains who the 2020 U.S. #census is counting, who it’s not, and why, in our new video.

In the 1940s, psychiatrists labeled homosexuality a mental disorder. Watch our video on the researcher who helped change this: ruclips.net/video/HL3Hq5UwOnM/видео.html

Small steps in the right direction, but still not enough. Still glad to see there will be clearer data though.

yaoiboi92, the LGBTQ communities are not clear on who they really identify with. Many who use to identify with them have changed, refuse to identify with them, or believe it's nobody's business. Also, teens are obviously the wrong people to ask about their preference (s). LOL! It's difficult to get accurate data in any of those situations.

questions like gender identity and "assigned"(more like observed) sex at birth are utterly useless if you're already asking for their sexual orientation
