Triumph Rear Wheel Rebuild (Sunset Tripper)

The rear tire is in need of replacment along with brake shoes, wheel bearings and other components..

It's reassuring that youngsters are still interested in the British bikes, so much more "character" than modern machinery.
We had a special tool for the brake adjuster to speed up removal and replacement. Essentially it is a tube that fits over the threaded brake rod with two projections to engage the wing nut. This is then driven by a crank handle which is long enough to clear the rear wherl when operated . These days we would have made something to be driven by a cordless drill but such things didn't exist when I last worked on a British bike.
On the brake lever topic, the drive square is often made offset so by turning it over you can have the correct angle for old/new shoes.

question ? are the two inner nuts on both sides of the wheel, are they just tightened up by hand?
