I like when your blogs are all over the place! Sometimes it makes it feel more natural and that we’re running all these errands with you! Love your content (:
To check your grading, take all the sizes of one piece and place the pieces inside one another. That’s making a nest. Do that for all the pieces. You should see that everything increases evenly. In the industry that’s what a good grader does to check that everything was done correctly. They print out a nest to check the grading. Another grader I worked with didn’t do that and the swimsuit pattern went to production. The contractor was having problems sewing the waistband of one size. I suggested they print out a nest and sure enough there was an error in the grading.
A good example to help understand nesting is to think of the way multi sized patterns that you purchase are printed out. Each piece is nested inside one another. You need to grade up one size and grade down one size from the base sized pattern piece. How many sizes you grade up or down depends on your size range. You also need to keep in mind the specs or measurements of each size range when grading. You also need a grading ruler. Bodice block has nothing to do with it. The pattern pieces of the design are graded. The nesting is just to check to see the grading was done correctly.
Yes! I do that! But I still get so worried it’s wrong for whatever reason😂 but I have yet to have problems with sizing so I must be doing it right (so far anyway hahah) but thank you for your knowledge!
Natalia, you're awesome! Enjoy your trip to California. If you have a chance, check out the California Market Center in DTLA. I haven't been there in years but I use to go there a lot when I was a student to look around or when shopping for fabric in the Fashion District.
Miss Amaro, thank you for sharing your life as a designer with us. We really appreciate it. By the way, grommet/rivet/snap press manual machines can help alleviate most of your concerns about having to install grommets in an apartment situation. They are fairly reasonably priced too. Kam Snap press and Goldstar are just a few. Thumb's up on video!!!
I'm also from India,I like your vlog❤️ your work is absolutely amazing 👍 and actually relatable to me I'm also a sustainable fashion designer.and planning to start my fashion business.and you have no idea but you helped me a lot to make things organized 😊 wish me luck.
This is the reason why I don’t do custom orders! I don’t have time for the back and forth. I have standard sizes available and that’s what I’ll sell lol

Hi, how do you make the nest? Is it a nest of blocks like a bodice block for example?
