    My Skytrak setup is surrounded by a brick wall behind me and wood beams above. Every once and awhile a bad strike will cause a ricochet from one of the beams above and come back towards me and the Skytrak unit like a bullet. A couple of times this resulted in a direct strike to the metal case around the Skytrak and, I believe, saved me from losing the device. To me the small cost of the case was well worth it.

    • @GolfSimulatorVideos
      @GolfSimulatorVideos  3 года назад +2

      Yeah that sound like a unique setup, and dangerous one lol. Have you considered hanging some canvas in a loop/swoop in front of that to catch balls? Would most likely be very easy and inexpensive. The looped canvas grabs and drops a ball very quickly.

    In my limited experience with the ST. I seem to remember HA @ +/- 3 degrees. The HA seems to be almost at random.... Your putt at 7:15 shows 3 degrees to the right while the putt was pretty straight. A putt from 10 feet away that is 3 degrees off center will be 6.29 inches off of center by the time it hits the screen. This is why TGC has a straight putting patch which is accessible from the setup prior to launching the game. Speed detection is not bad though. But HA is a mess.

    Thanks for the video. How do you switch from putting to using irons as you would need to do during a round of golf on the simulator? Do you putt and hit irons from the same surface or do you have to shift the launch monitor over so that you can use irons from a different surface?

    • @GolfSimulatorVideos
      @GolfSimulatorVideos  2 года назад +1

      The unit is measuring the ball data so it doesn’t need you to switch clubs. When the ball is on the green it knows you are putting. You can however switch to putter using the software club selection if you want to try and out from the fringe.

      I think I do show it in one of my videos but it is random. I will see if I can do a SkyTrak setup video covering all of it including aim, roll, tilt, etc. But basically I just use a straight line in my sim, if you don't have that align it as straight to target as you can. After that you can hit a few short chips and take note if dead straight on your screen if they flew dead straight and adjust if necessary.

      Any incandescent or flicker free LED above the hitting area works best for me. I like having my area dark with just a light over the hitting area. You can use a pin spot which some like, I prefer a little softer look. I use the Chauvet EVE 20. It is video quality flicker free. Has barn doors for controlling the light and the perfect beam for a soft circle around the hitting area. Thanks for watching, Craig!

  • @andrewtopping1937
    @andrewtopping1937 3 года назад +1

    I think your mat plays a big part. Also, the ST is not perfect....TGC is not perfect. That said, the "not being perfect" has forced me to make my own stroke better and more consistent. During my first round after 2 months on the simulator, I sank 10 foot putt after 10 foot putt (which I had never done consistently before). For all it's shortcomings (compared to live range practice) just 6 months on the ST/TGC had taken my game from high 90s to high 80s/low 90s. Hitting everyday has been the difference maker. The home simulator allows for that.

    • @GolfSimulatorVideos
      @GolfSimulatorVideos  3 года назад +1

      Yes for sure. As I mentioned a bumpy mat with a high launch putt for sure could lead to some iffy results. It really does make you focus on a smooth roll straight putt which is good so you don't get comfortable just hitting it without that care. Setup right it does really well for me. Thanks for watching!
