Brand new rider here, been looking at these bikes a lil bit for a starter. Used, in OKish condition, ~15k miles, ive found anything from $2000-3000. I have found much cheaper, ~$1000, but never in running/riding condition. The real nice refurbished and restored ones can get up above 4k
@@gingercyclops4397 I got super duper lucky, I just picked up an 81 550 today, perfect running condition (bought it from a motorcycle mechanic) for $1000. Faded out emblems, high beam bulb is out, and one of the running lights in the rear is out. That's it. Super happy with my purchase.
@@gingercyclops4397 I'm also a new rider btw. I rode dirt bikes before, but never street bikes. Also forgot to mention it had 33k miles on it, but like I said it was well taken care of and starts almost instantly.

I own one of these too. Bought new in '82 and last drove it in '87 with similar low miles. Still have it! Great bike.
My 1st bike. Then kz900. Loved my 550 Kaw.
I owned that model in 1987 until 1991. Great bike. Perfect beginners bike.
