    Hi Jason. I am a big fan of the 83 and 84 Topps Baseball. I do not think you can go wrong with either one. Thanks for showing these my friend. Love the Ripken and Ryan cards.

    Great job with this video. That set is special to me as well. I was 15. I also wanted the Don Mattingly. He was my favorite player. Thank you for spotlighting it! I think I have the set as well from my childhood. I have to go and check now. Haha

    Nice cards and remember the set well from childhood. I think your 1984 Topps is my 1985 Topps, the one I think of most when I think of the 80s, that and 1987 Topps. But my brother was crazy about Mattingly and that 84 Topps was a huge one for him.

    This is one of my favorite type of videos to watch where the creator describes the set that got them collecting in the first place. I as well started collecting at ten. The Year was 1970, a favorite set of mine. I too love the look of the 84 set and that Mattingly RC will always be worth to me more than it fetches.

      @@danielbernier6095 Thanks for the kind words Daniel! 1970 is actually on of my favorite sets from that decade. Simple & clean design. I actually just but a few singles from the 70 set today and will be posting a video on them shortly.

      I'll have to look out from that video. I was glad when I finally finished that 70 set in the late 90's. The 68 is my oldest set. I put the set together in 2022. The inspiration, a Milton Bradley board game I received at age ten that contained cards from 1968 Topps. My two favorite cards from that set, the Reggie Smith and Rod Carew trophy cards.

    Love the 84 Topps set and it is iconic. In addition to the cards you showed I was chasing Ron Kittle cards in the 83 & 84. Sure brings back a lot of great memories.

    Gave a video like. Love the '84 Topps set. I've enjoyed reliving the joy of picking up some of these cards all over again in the Tiffany sets.

    I love this set! There are so many great sets from the 80s, and this one is high up there for me as far as my favorite sets from the 80s. 87 probably has the most nostalgia for but as far as looks go, 84 is probably at the top for me. That or 83. Thanks for the trip to Nostalgiatown!

    Hi Jason, Nice to see the set that got you started. It is a beautiful design and Topps was really hitting their stride with quality photography.
    For baseball, it was 1980 Topps for me. That will always hold a special place.

    The '84 Topps was a great set. I bought so many packs back then. I would save my lunch money and stop at a drug store on my way home from school and buy a few packs. I have 2 complete sets.

    Love the 1984 set. The chase was Don Mattingly for sure and Strawberry. I of course wanted the Pete Rose card.

    72 Topps for me as a kid ...BUT it was 1987 Topps football that got me going when I was an adult.
    1984 Topps are great + the football from that year are 🔥

    84 Topps are awesome looking cards. Pop count or not, still a great set regardless. A cool set to get going on when you were a kid for sure! Loaded with stars and hof'ers like you said. I have a lot of the leader cards from that set which are really neat too as you showcased.

    I love the '84 set. My parents got me a box in about 1994, and so I had a huge stash. I've used a lot of them for TTM.

    I turned 10 in the summer of 84 so you are just a few months my senior, but I started a bit earlier with 83 Donruss. in 84, I ended up with a Fleer factory set. So I think it is a great design, but iconic may be pushing it a little. You cannot underestimate the power of nostalgia. LOL

    Topps had some great sets in the 80s and 84 is definitely one of them.

    1984 Topps is a great set. It has a highlight card on the retirements of 3 hall of famers: Johnny Bench, Gaylord Perry and Carl Yastrzemski. (All three set (Topps, Donruss and Fleer) had cards about Bench, Perry and Yaz retiring, yet Fleer had base cards of all 3 in addition to the cards about them retiring).

    I think every collector has their set in mind when they think of the most nostalgic. Oddly, mine is the 1994 Fleer. That was the first set my dad and I put together. Not worth anything but I love the set

    The 1984 set is very colorful ?
    card number 8 Donnie ball? nice Strawberry , Tony Gwynn , Ryne Sandberg , Carlton Fisk , Wade Boggs , Cal Ripken ,
    it's certainly is an Iconic set very colorful , very beautiful.

      Thank Mark! I don’t remember how much packs were back then. I actually but the 84 set as a complete set from a dealer at a card show. I do remember riding my bike to the local convenience store to buy packs of 86 Topps, but don’t remember how much they were. I remember going with dollar bills and change and being able to pick up a couple of packs. Thanks for watching my friend.

      the rack packs 3 packs were about 1.49 or so

    1984 Topps also has the Andy Van Slyke rookie card too. Not a hall of famer, but a very good player, I like the design of the '84's as well. Pretty cool the way, the team names are displayed on the card as well.

    1984 is a favorite of mine. Timeless design and I feel like the mugshot photos should be in Topps more often when using action shots. I believe I have only ever had copies of the Jim Palmer though! Never even a Mattingly or Straw. Reason being there are no HOF rookies and I've never bought a single pack. Bought packs in 1983 and 1985 though, which is a bit odd. I still have the Jim Palmers, there is a variation with or without a checkmark underneath "ORIOLES" on the card front.

      @@EverydayCardCollector-Jason I don't think it's documented but it exists! It's very faint but when you see it it's obviously purposely done and plain as day. You'll notice it every time after that. You bet!
