The reason this anime hits so hard is because it reminds you just how common "settling for second best" is when it comes to a lot of relationships. The only difference here is that both people are on the same page, so the factor of potential heartbreak upon finding out you were being used is mercifully removed.
It's also a very good anime because it shows the reality of the feeling "love" and we can see quite a lot of different pov's and how love has impacted them. It's really realistic and really "pure" in a way that we discover the "real truth" of almost every character.
To me, there is nothing like “settling for second best”. I was in love a few times and getting heartbroken does hurt but you grow out of it, you heal and shed those feelings. Scum's Wish has grown to become one of my top anime/manga series, and I'm happy people have started liking it too. The portrayal of unrequited love and basically just the teenager experience is really accurate. That's really what makes this series so good
Raise your hand if you watched this but couldn't finish not because of the s*x scenes but the fact that you couldn't bear the mental attack you get after each episode
The sex scenes are tame, compared to the mental breakdown it gives to watch Hanabi become the same as the music teacher, while the teacher gets to have a better love story. It's bananas.
This kind of love usually never last. Substitute your love with someone else is always a bad idea and pretty much insulting. It just shows off that these are kids that yet have to understand love.
Its so weird that people are grossed out that the anime is about minors having a crush on adults...like this is completely normal. Doesnt mean that the adults should act on it or anything, but people really need to get a grip on reality.

I love this anime more than anything. It taught me just how complex human emotions and the society we live in really is.
The show is so underrated I have never seen another show that gave me the same feelings this one did, it really creates a unique vibe. The visuals and OST are incredible too.
best depression inducing anime ever
wtf i'm crying by 9TAILS GIF from sad chill, also this reminds me of the plot of Domestic Girlfriend ngl
Yeah, honestly it looks like domekano with gender swap
Heh something switched inside of me that hasn't been switched since "Your lie in april" got me hyped.
This was legit the first anime I ever saw, and oh boy... was it something
I genuinely dont know why but this is one of my favorites anime
I really love this show, I’ve known about it for a long time but only got around to watching it recently and I really enjoyed it. However, I wouldn’t go around blindly recommending this show. Definitely for mature audiences only
I remembee finishing this while this was still a Manga. The trauma..lol. If ur used to lovely dovey anime, like they get together in the end..this is not ur cup of tea😢
So a student has a crush on a teacher…..
TWO students on two teachers
@@bluz1864and a sister on a brother
Just a reminder you glossed over: they are kids in love with their teachers.
Scum's Wish has grown to become one of my top anime/manga series, and I'm happy people have started liking it too. The portrayal of unrequited love and basically just the teenager experience is really accurate. That's really what makes this series so good
This anime change my perception about love
Yep
nah stop the cap
Raise your hand if you watched this but couldn't finish not because of the s*x scenes but the fact that you couldn't bear the mental attack you get after each episode
Wait it has s*x in it? Bro I didn’t know that is it that bad?
@@_Emika.x_ it has a bunch of sex scenes but jesus the mental attack is SO MUCH WORSE
@@daim6853mental attack why?
The sex scenes are tame, compared to the mental breakdown it gives to watch Hanabi become the same as the music teacher, while the teacher gets to have a better love story. It's bananas.
@@kellyjohana516 bro I was planning on watching fireworks but now you just had to discourage mah weak heart
this anime really broke me, and for some stupid reason i found and watched this after i broke up.
edge lords
This kind of love usually never last.
Substitute your love with someone else is always a bad idea and pretty much insulting.
It just shows off that these are kids that yet have to understand love.
Its so weird that people are grossed out that the anime is about minors having a crush on adults...like this is completely normal. Doesnt mean that the adults should act on it or anything, but people really need to get a grip on reality.
Warning please do not watch it , this shit ll traumatize you
This anime was definitely something.
This was and is my favorite anime for soo long
And if I tell anyone to watch it they say I'm disgusting 😭😭😭
Same here, I'm even too embarrassed to tell my friends since they wouldn’t expect anything like that from me
The OP and the ED both go so hard. Definitely recommended
This is one of the most bittersweet anime I've ever watched...also the op and ed songs are really good
I recommend watching this with your parents
I would not recommend watching this with your parents
@@claydont 9/10 Dentists recommend watching it with one's parents.

The anime is beautiful. Watched it with my younger counsins. They thought the ending was bad, and I explained the sheer sadism and toxicness of the anime.
The title should already give you an idea.
A solid 7/10 for me.
younger cousins?! It's got s*x scenes... Idk how old your younger cousins are but they better not be that young.. lol
@@_ellipticalpxin_2543 not that young the youngest among us is senior high.
THE SO TIRED GIRL*GASP*
Bruh, I was going to say the same thing.
Yes, we found her
WE FOUND HER
the art islovely
the music is lovely
the voice acting is lovely
the story . . . .
Its giving a bigger age gap diffrence of more than a married couple but not dating but same plot basically
This anime is legendary

This anime has everything. It has ntr, wholesome, hentai moment, moral lesson, yuri, sad, happy and so much more. I suggest everyone to atleast watch this anime once in your life, it's like the dark side of love
YURI?
@@kodzuknyan you will know when you watch it
wholesome and hentai should not be in the same sentence...
@@kodzuknyan Yarp, and it's the citrus kind 😮
It has a beautiful ending thou.. at the end they actually kinda like each other but they want to explore other stuff and find new people and then in the end if they're still inlove with each other they'll give it a try, for that they set up a new chapter walking away from each other.
Anyone that actually has gone through a heartbreak, can relate to this anime. Wake up, sometimes you need to face reality
Everything in this anime was perfect and it is relatable but after seeing his ending it mad me cry and depressed. I found myself speechless. After every episode you got mental attack 😢😢.
Scum's Wish is written by the artist of Oshi No Ko, Mengo Yokoyari. It's probably one of the best slice of life imo.
A lot would say that this story sucks, bec it doesnt give them flutters. That's the beauty of it. This anime dives that deep and dark world of unrequited love that most people experience in real life. Akane also portrays a person everyone should be avoiding. Hahaha.
The osts of this anime is GODLY, plus the cinematics and voice acting? Plain top tier. Highly recommended.
you didnt have to put your lie in april background music :_(
I was wondering what it was about since I know Aka Akasaka wrote it, thanks for explaining it, I'll definitely give it a watch or read.
Akasaka wasn’t the one who wrote it, it’s written by Mengo Yokoyari who also did the drawings in Oshi no Ko
@dasprokrastinorchen6384 Oh, sorry, I went to a page that said other manga by this author when reading Oshi No Ko, and it showed scum's wish. Thanks for the info (sorry if it sounds sarcastic, I'm being serious 💀)
I thought it was gonna just be the people they were in love with didn't reciprocate, not that they were in love with TEACHERS
It reminds me of More than a married couple, but not lovers
Honestly one of the best cluster fuck of love web triangle situation 😂
Love triangle? More like love dodecahedron
This anime doesn't make sense, you have a hot person the same age next to you but you prefer an older person who already has a love interest and they had only been an adult treating them as a child in either a neighbor or tutor relationship which they can't somehow understand that's a common emotionless relation that will never build into love unless the older person is a pedophile.
The characters mindset doesn't make sense... not the anime.
@@zerononame1522 It's the anime's logic that the main characters already developed as a teen shouldn't be able to tell that the older person took care of them like adults take care of children, not by any kind of special feelings. The naive mindset was shaped by that logic.
@@ME-xc1st That mindset actually exists in this real world... for example: incest, gay and etc. And both of them are only have one sided love so this crazy mindset is no longer strange to me~ Edit: people are free to love whoever they want~🤣

thank you bro
Bittersweet ending but it is satisfactory
Duster - me with the birds starts playing while I try to find a good wholesome anime to watch
Only in Anime will you ever see people falling in love with their teachers, not crushing on them (crush & love are different)
That's the girl from the phonk SO TIRED by NUEKI
I swear. It was the fastest yet heartbreaking anime i have ever watched. Truly heart breaking.
dont run for someone when he is already up in the sky

Banger OSTs, exceptional art style, adult themes, tense atmosphere. One of the best shortforms out there, a shame that the last manga volume (vol.9 Decor) was not adapted.
I liked that she finally decided she didn't need someone to be ok....
The fact this is one of the anime my junior high ass watched and finished back then and have my entire class addicted to its ending song ☠️
OMG THIS UNLOCKED SO MANY MEMORIES
Aaah that background song "watashi no uso" it always makes me feel alone 😌
Same type of anime:it's really wholesome
More than a married couple, but not lovers
Out of the contrary, my highschool self cried when watching this anime. If you look at it, the sounds, the music, the art is so relaxing that it draws me in to be able to potray those feelings. It might not be the best, but its just a “sad reality” and apparently my highschool self is down for it
I just started watching this a few months ago and I gotta say it’s pretty good!
I watched this anime when I was young, and it was one of my first. It got me really emotional, but the ending was worth it!
I hope Scum’s wish comes to Adult Swim’s Toonami block!
