    If you could own just one film that’s currently unavailable in your region, what would it be, and why?

    I’ve ended up with a few of my favorite films on Region B, thinking that maybe one day I’ll be able to watch them. Your video just reminded me that I have to be intentional, out and get one. It’s easy to get caught up in the ones that do play on my PS5 but I need a dedicated region free player.

      I was in that same boat, and getting one was something I truly wished I had done sooner. There are certain things in every hobby that work well for some and not for others. A region free player even a cheap one should be standard equipment for everyone, high recommend from me.

      For me it's a bit of the opposite. I live in Australia, which is in Region B. I do have some films and shows in my collection that are Region A (including the Bluey boxset I preordered that should be coming soon)

    Buying a region free player was the best decision I've ever made.
    I would always find movies I was looking for on Amazon, that had previously been so hard to find, But they'd be an overseas copy. So I would pass up on them.
    Since then I have found a few that I just can't seem to find an American physical copy of, and some were just better deals overseas.
    I got the Sony x500. I could be wrong on the number, but it's something like that.

    • @80sMadeConsumer
      @80sMadeConsumer  Месяц назад +1

      @@TonyThompson1981 It really was the best decision, not sure why I dragged my feet for so long! My regret was not jumping in sooner. Sonys are great in my experience no matter the model. I probably went overboard on mine so I make sure to use it daily, and the Sony only for 4ks. I just picked up Lesbian Vampire Killers from France, great film if you haven’t seen it. Says it’s region B but it’s region free. That’s what’s keeping more people from jumping in I think.

      As an Australian, it's even more important to get a region free player. Not only has Disney pulled out of the home video market in my country, but some movies don't even get Australian releases. While I could just import a copy from the UK, since it's also Region B, I'd rather be able to play everything

      @@80sMadeConsumer It's basically impossible to get the brand name players in Australia unless you import them.
      There's an el cheapo Australian brand one that goes for A$150 and does what it needs to minus the bells and whistles. I'll probably look into that.

    I have a UB820 that is region A locked, but every Region B disc I've tested I can get to work without a problem so far. I just hit stop to take me to the splash screen after the region b message and then just press the Top Menu button. Nice little work around that hasn't failed me yet.

    I have a LG UBK 90 4k player & an LG BP550 blu-ray player that is region free. Now, the only thing that is usually region coded is blu-rays & DVDs. 4k's movies are all region free.

      I hear good things about the LGs! 4ks are all supposed to be, but I remember Diabilkdvd saying on social media a few years ago there was a 4k release that was region locked and they would be be accepting returns on it. Others have reported some discs to be locked although not many, but has happened. It was a huge topic in the forums a few years ago.

      I have a few region A discs that ended up being region free anyway, same with region B. If you have a region locked A disc, the best way is get a region free player. The harder way for most is rip it to your computer and have a digital file. I prefer the physical copy method

    • @80sMadeConsumer

      It really does! I think at one time there was an argument to help prevent piracy when films weren’t released all at the same time around the world. But that argument is all out the window since the internet age.
