Learned to make buns from you and they come out so good. Making some today after a while. I came back for reference and I will say, I love how much you explain in your videos
Well presented, and every step so carefully explained. My Grandma made these coconut drops, especially at Christmas time. What a treat. I will make these, even though I will use almond flour. I cannot have wheat flour. I think they will be just as good.
Matthew, if I believed in reincarnation I would think you were my gran come back as a lovely young man so her cooking can live on. I am watching this in tears, I miss my granny and wanted to make these buns so my son could enjoy something I used to each time I went to her house. Thank you for bringing just a tiny bit of my beloved granny back to life. xx
Hi, love the look of these rock cake's. I can remember my mum making them when I was young. She didn't put a cherry on top. She put a thump print on top and filled it with jam. X
These are a popular confection you can find in most village bakeries in the UK, same shape and often with the cherry on top. We call them 'coconut macaroons'.
Hey Matthew, I just made these and they are delicious and so scrumptious! Not too sweet! I put in cranberries tho since I did not have cherries! Just lovely!😋😋😋
Hey Mathew, I'm trying to find the video about grating the coconut...please help. I want to mk these for my parents. ( I made your oil roti for them and they were impressed!! ) Thanks so much for these videos! I truly appreciate them!!

Regina Rose Hi there. Thank you for checking my channel out. I do have a video for plait bread up (the dough to tennis rolls is very similar, you just need to roll the dough into balls and bake). I will do a recipe for tennis rolls soon though.

Thank you for giving the 1/3 cup measurement for each ball of dough. I really appreciate it when chefs give measurements. Subscribed!

Love coconut buns, I do less sugar like you said. Love your idea of freezing the coconut.
Olive Gobin Yes I am not a fan of too much sugar (I used the half a cup) but I put the 3/4 just in case people like it sweeter.

I would like to know if I can use carnation milk for this recipe
Yes, any type of milk.
I remember eating that as a kid.
jason4275 Indeed. Buns are something I think everyone remembers eating as a kid.
Can I use store bought grated coconut?
Yes
This looks freaking yummy. Share some with your subscribers 😄😄
LOL They need to invent free food giveaways on RUclips channels.

Princesslisa Sweety Thank you!
wow!! can u put chestnut..

Do you need baking powder for this recipe ?
Yes you do, or they will not rise and they will be hard.
Can u do cassava pone one day .the stretchy kind .thank you
I have 2 recipes for that on my channel
Can u make cheese straw
Can you use coconut flakes instead or no?
I've never tried that. You may need to add some extra butter to add some moisture.
I will do a recipe using coconut flakes next time for anyone who wants to use them versus fresh coconut.
Matthew's Guyanese Cooking thank you! I’ll be looking forward to seeing it :) btw I love your videos, keep up the good work Matthew!
@@khadijaally9593 Thank you
Did you use cold milk ???????
It doesn't matter, you can use cold or room temp. Don't use hot milk though or else the butter will melt and they will not form properly.
Okay great thank you so much ....will try it tomororw. Love all your videos .do u have any with cheese rolls ???
@@rosewilliams6983 Awesome! Keep me updated. I will upload a cheese roll recipe really soon.
Hey, Where do you list the measurements?
Please disregard previous message---I found it----great video!
@@joanner2644 Thank you!
Would appreciate if ingredients given in grams and ml pls. Thanks
Is there a reason for no egg ?
There is really no need. And traditionally no egg is added. Some people add it in addition to the milk though. So feel free to do that.
