My 5 Star March Reads were: - A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab (seriously read this, there is a reason Jaime gushes about it so much) - Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (lesbian necromancers in space, not a SciFi fan but the level of sass out of Gideon is *chefs kiss*) - The Wall of Winnepeg and Me by Mariana Zapata (very slow burn, Football-romance. I am not a sports fan but I fell head-over-heels for Aiden, the Canadian male leads)
5 ⭐️ Reads: -The Way Of Kings by Brandon Sanderson -The Jasad Heir by Sarah Hashem -Percy Jackson Series -The Lord of The Rings -The Wheel of Time Series
My most recent 5 ⭐️ read: Voyage of the Damned by Frances White. It’s a murder mystery, but in a fantasy world and on a ship. Plus: it’s super inclusive. It had everything I wanted in a book and I just ATE IT UP 🙌🏻✨
I have like 180 books on my tbr 😂 I just buy and buy ! I read a book every 3 days a week max yet I keep buying more books that’s how tbrs keep growing 😂
@@jaimefok I also really enjoyed Home Before Dark! That was my intro to Riley and been hooked ever since! His new one (Middle of the Night) comes out in June and I’m so excited!
I am currently reading The Daughter of the Moon Goddess and it is so good! Definitely going to check some of these out. So good to find some 5 star reads.
love this video as always! I haven’t read any of these books yet but I’ve added them to my tbr😊 my current read is ACOSF and I’m listening to a Percy Jackson audiobook as well
Yay! More book recommendations! And what a great reading week! I was on the fence about Riley Sager but now I am adding it to the tbr! I am currently reading Vengeance of the pirate queen.
I finished When the Moon Hatched last night and had the exact same thoughts as you! So happy to have found your channel - look forward so much to your videos!
Heheh I pretty much completely agree with your points on When the Moon Hatched! The smut was so random and misplaced- like I remember getting to the first one around 40% and just laughing in disbelief, then skipping over the scene because... no thanks.... (though overall I gave the book a lower rating because those details and the main character annoyed me a bit too much) The Fragile Threads of Power was 100% a 5 star read though! For other 5 star reads, I'd recommend The Lies of Locke Lamora (soooo good, lots of great plot twists, heist fantasy), The Way of Kings, Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, the Cage of Souls, The Name of the Wind, Nevernight, Red Rising... so many good books! Anyway, I loved the video and can't wait for the next one!
haha yeah i get you! i was just so entranced at the world, it overpowered my negative thoughts about the book and ended up with a higher overall good feeling about the book :P ok YES some of your recs are already on my goodreads TBR, will need to check these out!
Good job making picks, huffy! I’m currently reading: Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer (non-fiction personal account of the 1996 Mt. Everest expedition disaster) and Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (Book one of The Infernal Devices trilogy)
I’m so with you on V E Schwab. I loved the Darker Sades of Magic. Also, I am enjoying Mistborn. But we part ways on Kristin Hannah. She’s a 3 star for me. Am reading The Women for my book group, and it’s a 3+star bc of the topic. Feel the same about Riley Sager. I read the book you showed and it was ok… hope you enjoy all of them.
I looooove the idea of a glossary in fantasy books!! I was just saying to my husband how I wish acotar had one because I keep having to jog my memory on what some of the things are 🤪
I’ve read all of Riley Sager’s books and really enjoyed them all, for the most part. Have you read Ruth Ware? I’m curious which thrillers you read that you didn’t love.
Loved this! Hmmm…it’s been a long while since I read the Shades of Magic trilogy. I might need to do a reread. I’m really curious about When the Moon Hatched, but worried my brain won’t be able to comprehend it all 😂☺️🤦🏻♀️
I’ve been wanting to read When the Moon Hatched for a while now but your comments about the main character giving off Mary Sue/not like other girls vibes have me a little bit hesitant to pick it up. Definitely still planning on getting to it at some point but I’m probably not gonna make it a priority for the time being. So glad to hear that you loved The Only One Left! It’s definitely my favorite Riley Sager novel out of the ones I’ve read. His earlier books have been a little bit of a mixed bag for me personally but I thought he really hit it out of the park with this one.
@@jaimefok I mean, if any of his older books sound interesting to you, go for it! I didn’t actively dislike any of them, although I didn’t exactly love them either. I did actually enjoy Lock Every Door quite a bit. I had to suspend my disbelief a fair bit but I thought he managed to create this atmosphere of creeping dread that I really appreciated.
According to Goodreads my (digital) TBR is 654 books ☠🤣 Your videos are not helping!! Haha. Just from this video alone, I added 2 new books to my TBR, let alone all the other books I have added this past year due to your other videos 🙈
OMG LOL HOW?? i think my goodreads TBR is somewhere between 100-200... but i try not to buy them all at once haha. sorry not sorry for contributing to your neverending list :P
0:50 20 books? Mines 75+ 😰 I should really stop buying books and spend my money on kpop albums instead (I won't, I'll probably go broke because I buy both 💀)
More fantasy books need a pronunciation guide! It’s mildly irritating to try to figure it out, as well as all of the inconsistencies of pronunciation amongst readers.
