- Famous Bollywood actress Waheeda Rehman on being asked that what was the base of "Kagaz Ke Phool"? She replies,"In my opinion Guru Dutt was inspired by Judy Garland's "A Star is Born". Though I have never seen the film but he had taken the treatment of the concept and also how Bombay film industry runs, how junior artistes are being treated, how success is given respect and love, and if that person fails his little bit of failure changes him or the others as person he have used the treatment of the film keeping this concept in mind.
On being asked that how much authenticity the film had in it about Bombay she replies," In my opinion it was a lot authentic."
On being asked about what were the real touches she answers," Like whenever Guru Dutt ji used to enter studio everybody used to greet him by doing a salaam. The telephone operator used to look at the watch and say that the boss has arrived. The clock strikes nine and the boss enters. He is so punctual. The whole studio and the workers used to love and respect him so much. The same scene is visioned at the end of the film that he has failed and left the studio. he comes in torn and tattered clothes but nobody notices him. to some limits this is a truth. Its difficult to say it occurs in Bombay industry but the whole world behaves like this. The rising star is always been worshipped and if he fails a little bit the whole world finishes him."
Waheeda was born in a Tamil and Urdu-speaking family in Chengalpattu-Tamil Nadu, India.A year after her dad's death she appeared in a Telegu movie 'Rojulu Marayi'. Her role was as an dancing child artiste. She is proficient in Bharat Natyam. It was here that she was spotted by noted Bollywood actor and film-maker, Guru Dutt, who gave her a lead role in C.I.D. She went on to appear in 5 Guru Dutt classics - Pyaasa, 12 O'Clock, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Chaudhvin Ka Chand. Her pairing with Devanand was very popular and they had 5 blockbusters - C.I.D., Solva Saal, Kala Bazar, Baat Ek Raat Ki and Guide and 2 critically acclaimed but box office flops - Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja and Prem Pujari. She has acted as a child artiste, a leading lady, then switched to character appearances. She has procured the Best Film Actress Award in 1965 for her role in 'Guide', and then again in 1968 for 'Neel Kamal'.

Waheedaji is one of the most talented actress of our film Industry. She not only earned very good name in film industry by acting. She proved herself a marvellous dancer and never ever took resort to vulgarity or indecency to reach such a great height in Bollywood. So graceful and polite. Today's talentless actresses has to learn a lot from this decent talented artiste. Performance in some of the movies like Guide, Kagaj Ke phool, Pyasa , Saheb bibi aur Gulam will never be forgotten by the viewers.

Gurudutt was one of the very talented artists and great directors of that time. While his films like Pyassa, Kagaz ke phool, Chaduvin ke Chand, Sahib Bibi our Gulam shown his class, Mr. and Mrs. 55, Aar Paar, 24 Hours, Southele bhai etc shown lighter moments of life. Guruduttji holds a very enviable position in Hindi and Indian film industry.

Nutan was not a good actress, see her movie and observe, you will find that see had portrayed woman as slave of man and advertised putra janma, wiase adhikansh hero-heroinen putra janma ko hi barhawa dete hue dikhai dete hain. Kai purani heroinen jaise Nutan, Sharmila Tagore, Rakhi, Nirupa Rai etc. strivirodhi vichardhara wali thi usko sirf heruon ki maa ka role karna achha lagta tha. Ye heroinen mere liye bilkul bhi aadarniya nahin hain. Achha hua ki ye ghatiya heroins mere Divya Bharti Ji ki maa ka role nahin kiya.
I have not heard any other Hindi film heroin with such an indeapth knowledge about almost all departments of film making. She is so poised so much at ease answering all sorts of questions. She is so charming and beautiful. No wonder she was respected so very much,

Kaaghah keep phool, was a film in which my audience left cinema hall, before film got over. I, consider it as master piece.
I love how emotions are portrayed in the movie. Two people missing love in their life’s come together. But circumstances does not allow them the together..You end up crying when you see how they long for each other and care for each other.. the beautiful music and acting made it a great film,

I totally agree, during the song 'waqt ne kiya haseen sitam' , it was well read in eyes of waheeda ji and guru dutt that how immensely both are in love, but yet due to age gap and dutt being separated is not letting them to unite. The pain can be quite deeply felt as it tells you that sometimes soulmates are helpless due to such societies so called norms, i wonder how Warida ji act so naturally at the age of 18 years , hats off 🙏🙏🙏

And thought it to be the most hardcore cult classic with intense emotions, but this Film Shattered my claims.. 🙏🙀🔥😍👌 LITERALLY, A TRUE AUTHENTIC SPEECHLESS MASTERPIECE! Guru dutt sir.. What to say about you! Your Mastery over Direction, Mastery over Acting, Mastery over the ART! MUSIC (ESPECIALLY THE HEART OF THIS CLASSIC, "Chute sabhi baari baari"), PERFORMANCES(Of every VISIONARY involved in this Beautiful Art piece, but which really made me their Fan are Waheeda Mam, Guru dutt Ji and Johny Walker sir!) EDITING, SCRIPT(WON MY HEART!!), Epic- Way ahead CINEMATOGRAPHY with technical brillaince AND THE DIRECTION!!!! EVERYTHING IS SOMETHING TRULY PHENOMENAL.. it strikes right to the heart and though some people might feel it gets a bit slow in the middle but Trust me, it takes a TREMENDOUS UPLIFT towards the Climax.. Same. When I first saw pyasa I became fan of Gurudatta Sir. Until now he is my favorite director. No one could beat him. Watching a pyasa movie was indeed a different experience for me. Every scene give us a different feeling. I feel so lucky that I have watched this movie.

Which caused suspicion and strained relation with his wife and later separation. He might have gone closer to his co- worker to express his depression, since his wife and family was separated from him and no body understood him except Wahida. This false, one sided Love story, and others had been made and promoted by his, back-stabber, jealous friend Abrar Alvi.
