After I finished it I felt like I played through a generic AAA game that had a few people buried somewhere in the corporate machine trying really hard to make a decent System Shock 2 homage. The glue gun that lets you build platforms to jump up walls and explore the ceiling was neat, and figuring out how to sneak into other rooms by turning into a coffee cup wasn't too bad either. The biggest problem the game had for me was that the monsters aren't very threatening once you get your first Psi power. The really big one that starts coming after you can be avoided by hiding in a closet for 2 minutes until he fucks off again, or since he usually spawns in right in front of you when enter a new area, just turning around and going back into the area you just left and waiting for the timer to run out. What I really hate is that Prey 2 died for this. NuPrey wasn't the worst but we lost something that looked much better in exchange.

So wait, they made the first enemy a blob that can asume the shape of any object in the enviroment ... ok, not a bad ideea, I can see a lot of potential. So, HOW do we implement them and design their AI? Well you see, they run to an object and asume it's shape at random. And I'm sitting here like: every single one of those mimics was obvious. Every single one of them stood in a spot and transformed into an object that stood out like a sore thumb. 2 chairs at a single person work space? 2 trash-cans in the same corner? Very VERY obvious empty mugs on a table next to a full one? Christ they did not bother at all.
Until... the mimics mimic a mimic corpse part You can move around when you mimic stuff but these mimics can’t? I mean they can bounce and slide around but that’s about it
So this game is like System Shock 2. remember when in System shock 2, when everytime a enemy came within 5 feet of you, the music would start blaring with bad techno. TB, i grew up with Looking Glass Studio, I knew Deus Ex, System Shock was a game that i loves, TB, this is not a game that deserved to be called in the same sentence as Looking Glass Studio. Looking Glass Servers Offline, The utter balls they had even writing that sentence.
I absolutely hated the demo for this game. The one reason it pissed me off was the music loop that continued even when enemies weren't near you or even around. I got the game though out of pure boredom & the music is toned down a lot. The game is decent imo but there are a lot of things in it that are just off about it.
Objectively the worst US president was James Buchanan. He saw the Civil War coming and did diddly squat to stop it. The best was ironically the guy who came right after him, Abraham Lincoln, because he managed to pick up after Buchanan's fustercluck and hold the Union together using a combination of good politicking and trying to get the right generals into the Union army (his first choice was Robert E. Lee, until Lee followed his principles and went with his native Virginia out of the Union) and he finally got Grant and Sherman into the leadership roles when they were the only guys who could win battles or keep pressing forward even after losing a battle. Lincoln also wanted to heal the country by being gentle with the former Confederates and not punishing them, but he ended up getting assassinated before he could get Reconstruction going the way he wanted.
Yeah, Buchanan literally failed as a president, but isn't remembered for his failures. I'd say Harding is another failure (who was spared being hated for his death), and then there's Silent Cal who pretty much was just number two to that corrupt lout.
What bothers me about this game is that it has a title exactly the same as a great sci-fi novel by Michael Crichton. Hell, the game even has a sci-fi theme. I know it's a minor gripe but it's a minor thing on the developer's end as well.
half-deus-shock polished but underwhelming & unoriginal edition. the true next gen experience (meaning : vapid as buttered toast with an ed hardy paintjob). would not even rent.
I really liked this game. Don't get the hate other than the music and loading screens. On PC the loading was tolerable but I am a STALKER fanatic so I'm used to openish levels divided by load screens. This game really did run amazing too, literally between 120-144 most of the time very surprised.
I think the worst part from what I've seen so far isn't that the game is especially bad, disappointing yes but it's just so patronizing. Additionally, the mimics fucking suck, it would be so much more effective if there were less of them but they would only reveal themselves if you tried to pick an item up and not just go "BOO" whenever they feel like it.
Mormons believe in the "pasta monster" i think lol. also do not unchain the night lol/ psi judge Anderson i like/ movie bob would need to use the Hubble to take a "selfie" sorry just a sleepless night, and got a head ache so "bitch mood". "Houston we have a problem". Saw a piece on the JFK shooting, the theory, is that the car behind JFK's vehicle some one was standing up, not "respecting the weapon" and was not cleared on the m-16 the weapon was also not on safe. So when the driver speed up the SS agent with the m-16 fell and fired a round by having the weapon not on safe, and his finger in the trigger guard, not beside it he "fired"" the kill shoot but that is just one theory. Well so far i do not see wall running so that might be a plus lol. Total recall moment lol. firefox is cool also Joe kid.
That's a shame, I wasn't expecting there to be such negativity about the game. I really enjoyed it, personally. Like it was just nitpick after nitpick and not letting anything different about the game be cool or interesting, it just seems like you actively wanted to not like it, maybe from the pre-release stuff surrounding the original prey 2 which I can understand somewhat. Like instead of sitting on it's own merits it's just dismissed away as "bioshock in space" or "shitty system shock" from the tutorial level. It'd be like calling SS2 shit Quake when you only played the training segment. I hope some day you'll give it a second chance.
This game is amazing. About to start my second play through. If you're a fan of "0451" games, you should definitely grab it. I found it to be almost as good as System Shock 2, especially in the sheer amount of ways you can go about problem solving.
The audio in the demo seemed glitchy. The "amped" music seemed to pop up, increase volume exponentially, and not stop even after the action subsided and I went back to exploration mode. I was more scared of the shitty music than any creatures in the game. Uninstalled.
Huh, I didn't know you streamed this. I'll add it to my queue. Maybe it will help me learn why you didn't like the game. Currently watching you play Alien Isolation first though.
Welcome on the gun locations, hope you have fun if you continue. Oh and soundtrack is by Mick Gordon (Doom, Killer Instinct reboot/3 season 1 & 2) so that's the reason it's not really your tone
This game is fantastic. They must have kept Harvey Smith far away from it. There is absolutely no dumbing down. None. There is nothing whatsoever insulting about it. Technologically it is very impressive, but it doesn't trade out any substance in favor of spectacle. It's fairly difficult although it's not brutal. System Shock 3 all the way.
I don't get all the hate for this game. I've been playing it having a blast. It's the best survival FPS/RPG since System Shock 2, not that there are a lot of contenders there.
This sounds like a lot of complaining just for the sake of it. I don't feel like you want to even give the game a chance. You already made your mind up that you dislike it, so why waste your time playing it?
I'm a little sad that you're playing the demo and not the full game. I played the demo and was severely underwhelmed and put off purchasing the game until my friend offered his copy for a steal. I'm currently 12 hours in and while it's nowhere near the level of quality of the games it so clearly wants to be, it is a decent play so far. Not a great one, but it is enjoyable. Going into the game proper from the demo, I can tell you the controls and camera acceleration have been tightened up and the horrible soundtrack looping has been fixed, as well as the enemy AI being improved. And as far as the SJW politics go (and I am acutely aware of them), besides picking your gender, a lesbian couple, and an overwhelmingly multiracial cast, there's not much being pushed here. I honestly think you're being overly-harsh here, and I would like to see you play through the full game and give it a proper review, even though we know you'll hate it because your hate-boner for Arkane seems to know no limits.
Yeah, that seems the case with MGS too, eventhough i am not sure Rzor even played any of that besides questionable Phantom Pain, which further helped him to laugh at Kojima's cult of personality.
The Most Magnificent Malt I felt the same way "Hehe I don't know what this Razorfront guy is talking about, Prey™ is a wonderful game! The demo was so amazing I wish Bethesda Softworks LLC would let me pay just for the experience. Arkane Studios SASU have really outdone themselves and I look forward to paying $59.99."
@@OpenMawProductions there needs to be either some sort of dense rubber or foam where the mic stand is connected to the table surface or the mic needs to be in a cradle which will absorb vibrations. The alternative to this is to mount the mic on a different surface or stand that is not attached or connected to the surface that is being used. Every time the table gets banged it emits very loud low frequencies through the mic. If you use a sub-woofer or have a decent speaker setup, these bangs over power the persons voice and essentially makes the recording uncomfortable to listen to. If compression is used to boost the overall perceived volume of the recording, the bang will duck out (lower the volume) of the content for as long as the release is set to on the compressor.
To be honest it looked like you were lumping the blink mechanic (an important part of the stealth gameplay) in with 'hobo skeletor'? ....Though as someone who's never played the original thief(s) it was enjoyable.
First they cloned Ultima Underworld poorly (i.e. Arx Fatalis), then they cloned Thief poorly (i.e. Dishonored) and now they clone System Shock poorly (i.e. PREY). What's next Arkane? A Deus Ex clone? Dear God, I hope not. What is the point of this game? I could understand making this if System Shock was dead and buried like it was previously, but it isn't anymore. We have a remake on the way AND an official sequel.
I don't get. It is a System Shock/Bioshock hybrid. Not the best maybe, but more than adequate. Why so much hatred? Do you prefer another annual first-person Call of Duty clone?
This isn't supposed to be like that kind if reboot, it's more "hey we want to make Our own system shock game.... But we don't have the license" also if you were insulted by this, I'd love to see your reaction to prey 2 if it did come out as that had as much to do with prey 1 as star trek had to star wars.
It would be a good game if it were anything like prey. If I want to play system shock, I'll go play some system shock. I don't look into stuff titled "prey" for my system shock fix.
"we want a modern game with open ended level design, hard difficulty, and progression through gameplay mechanics, kinda like a throw back to System Shock" - proceeds to get a game that's exactly those things - "hey what the fuck look at this shitty System Shock clone"
Abject apologism. Much like Dishonored, it wasn't that we got a 'clone' of System Shock... it's that we got a BAD clone of System Shock. A game that steals its mechanics, then punishes you for using them. A game that encourages exploration, then righteously shithammers you for daring to explore. A game that confuses snore-inducing emails with 'world-building'. A game so obnoxiously sure of itself... and so utterly unjustified in feeling that way. It's ass, dude. Stop settling for lobotomized versions of superior titles and maybe we'll get some _genuine_ excellence for a change. This game isn't.
The Rageaholic the fuck you on about? Prey is a perfectly fine game in its own right. And apologetics? I never much cared about the project (much less heard about it) until I picked it up a week ago at the suggestion of a friend. what would I be trying to cover for? Yes I have played System Shock 2, it's a great game with revolutionary gameplay that I have yet to see implemented in newer franchises and yaddy yadda. but you seriously overlook the its shortcomings and act like its a perfect game that didn't have clunky mechanics and a sometimes mishandled plot. so yeah it seems infantile to me for you to completely rag on about a game that tried to incorporate the very design philosophies you won't shut up about, just because you believe it falls short of one of your personal favs. It's a decent game and perhaps one of the best single player experiences this year. And yeah, whining about it having an Asian lead is pretty petty, and this is coming from a guy that actually agrees with much of your politics.
You understand we did this once before, right? It was called Dishonored. I called out its faults. You apologists called me a 'Thief fanboy'. Guess what happened? Thanks to your efforts? In the sequel, Arkane _didn't have to fix the problems!!!_ Now, suddenly everyone sees the faults I pointed out in 2012! SUDDENLY they exist! Eureka! You frankly deserve the industry you have.
The Rageaholic I'm not talking about Dishonored, though I agree the 2nd game arguably regressed. but I'm not talking about that buggy, half baked mess, in talking about a well polish game that for all intents and purposes does exactly what it's supposed to, though it falls just sort of greatness. you are unfairly biased in your critiques of the game, and hypocritical in comparing it to an earlier game that suffered many of the same issues. You know why Bethesda failed to promote Prey? or slapped a recognizable albiet arbitrary title unto it? Because they didn't want to support a new shooter that took risk by embracing older gaming conventions and a methodical pace. and when you have a mass of reactionaries coming a out of the wood work and verbally piledriving that game and telling otherwise interested gamers to ignore it, for some pretty petty reasons (while ignoring the games many positives), it tells studios they were right not to invest in any new IP that so much as touches the edge of the mold. It's like the whole Quake Champions debacle. I'm not saying not to criticise, but I am saying that you are unfairly harsh on many aspects of its design, as well as unable to take the positives into consideration, calling anybody who enjoys it an "apologist".
I am sorry but what so political about this game? I heard it has good old school gameplay and Chris Avellone worked on this one, so why the politics? don't become your worst enemy.....
Once again a little typing of the keyboard and clicks of the mouse and I see you're lying. There are no statistics that back up what you're typing. Why are you lying? What's the point? You gain nothing.
Here's some facts: Before the typhoon iteration began development, Bethesda had the sunk costs of their cancelled Prey 2 project and the IP purchase to cover. They had to licence technology and essentially create a new standalone Arkane team in Austin. Thanks to leaks, we now the game missed its release date, taking four years to reach shelves. The final product sold considerably less copies than Dishonored 2 and even Prey 1 in the UK. Three weeks after launch, and the game's not even in the top 15 global sellers on Steam and has yet to crack 250,000 sales. It's selling for $39 is the US and £29.99 in the UK. twitter.com/ZhugeEX/status/861628372845297664 www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-05-20-jelly-deals-roundup-prey-injustice-2-humbles-spring-sale-and-more www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2017/05/27/japanese-gamers-dont-really-care-about-prey-all-that-much/#50687c550687

The game itself is fucking loud. Didn't play the demo, but finally played the game yesterday and it's loud as fuck.
Fuck me, I didn't know this was happening! I could have watched the fucker live!
Until... the mimics mimic a mimic corpse part
You can move around when you mimic stuff but these mimics can’t?
I mean they can bounce and slide around but that’s about it
Does this game have a custom soundtrack feature?
18:23 😂😂😂 that was hilarious!!
7:52 God I hope so, Mr. Fist. I pray to whatever God's upstairs that that happens.
walk walk walk, talk talk talk
I'm so happy I found someone else who didn't like Bioshock Infinite
So this game is like System Shock 2.
remember when in System shock 2, when everytime a enemy came within 5 feet of you, the music would start blaring with bad techno.
TB, i grew up with Looking Glass Studio, I knew Deus Ex, System Shock was a game that i loves, TB, this is not a game that deserved to be called in the same sentence as Looking Glass Studio.
Looking Glass Servers Offline, The utter balls they had even writing that sentence.
No, instead System Shock 2 had bad Techno blaring constantly, thus ruining any atmosphere it could have had
You do know that you can turn it off in SS2 unlike in this game>
I identify as a attack helicopter
I absolutely hated the demo for this game. The one reason it pissed me off was the music loop that continued even when enemies weren't near you or even around. I got the game though out of pure boredom & the music is toned down a lot. The game is decent imo but there are a lot of things in it that are just off about it.
Jesus in a cocktail dress is my phrase of day
Why are we talking about runaway trains.... in the future?
LEE DID NOTHING WRONG
Yeah, Buchanan literally failed as a president, but isn't remembered for his failures. I'd say Harding is another failure (who was spared being hated for his death), and then there's Silent Cal who pretty much was just number two to that corrupt lout.
My god, that music. I had to play the ost from System Shock 2 just to watch this.
Mick Gordon it is i think.. The guy who made doom 2016 and doom eternal soundtracks. His work is beyond amazing.
@@Shadow61250
Mick Gordon?
No wonder I hated both this soundtrack and the one from the new Doom games.
Bullet time + fully upgraded shotgun = piss easy game!
He Razor are you going to do a E3 live stream?
Hey Razorfist, if Arkane only does copies of Looking Glass games what is "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic" a copy of?
Isn't that just a Might & Magic sequel?
Either way, with the overpowered kick function, it's clearly intended as a spiritual successor to FIFA.
I guess the problem should be Arkane fails to copy Looking Glass games, right?
What bothers me about this game is that it has a title exactly the same as a great sci-fi novel by Michael Crichton. Hell, the game even has a sci-fi theme. I know it's a minor gripe but it's a minor thing on the developer's end as well.
that's the sort of RC helicopter I'd love to have :D.
dat loading time tho. holee sheet!
half-deus-shock polished but underwhelming & unoriginal edition. the true next gen experience (meaning : vapid as buttered toast with an ed hardy paintjob). would not even rent.
The Reagan effect---Teddy Roosevelt motto Speak softly and carry a big stick
I really liked this game. Don't get the hate other than the music and loading screens. On PC the loading was tolerable but I am a STALKER fanatic so I'm used to openish levels divided by load screens. This game really did run amazing too, literally between 120-144 most of the time very surprised.
Fuck, I've missed the shotgun too.
Didn't know Winchester's middle name was Emerson.
'What does it say when a wrench is more effective than a gun" - it says you're playing on consoles where aiming is a handicap.
lmao i dont see a choice for attack helicopter ether razorfist
Poor man's prop hunt
Hey Rageaholic, do you play any tabletop RPGs?
Holy shit, he answered this like 5 minutes after I asked it. Vampire the Masquerade! Awesome game.
Severian Wintermute That was me, hope you enjoyed my two bucks!
Totally man. Crazy timing too. Reqlly surprised by his answer since Vampire is probably my favorite RPG.
jellied eel is also a east end of London delicacy
Jesus fuck the soundtrack is infuriating
it was an issue in the demo it's not nearly as bad in the full game.
omg that tutorial section.
Favorite Jedi is Master Bates
I burst out laughing at the second missed jumpscare, you know a 'horror' game is good and fucked when it fucks that up.
Meltzer was correct in that the Rock N Foley skit, has led to some godawful television since then.
damn I though this was the bat shit 2006 Pery
Half Life with portals
***** I'm fine with the soundtrack outside of how loud it overall is
I think a different and more musical form of electro was needed. Maybe some Trance with downplayed beats.
Ten of Spades i like the tone he went for here as it's much more "something is malfunctioning or something Inhuman/not of this world is happening"
Ike of Pyke
The only track that really gives off that impression is the title screen one, imo. It's a decent track.
BALLZ!!
This looks a little too similar to Bioshock for my liking.
why is all this Dishonored and arkane studios hate coming out of the woodwork? where the hell were all these people in 2012?
What the fuck is this obnoxious battle soundtrack? Wasn't this supposed to be an immersive survival/stealth game?
MeleeMaster MAA up to you on stealth, second enemy sees you the music kicks up
saved myself 40 quid looked up the end of the game on utube
That description isn't half bad...
OI! This shit is noice.
The amount people shilling this game in the comments is disturbing.
You can't even spell break right...
Maybe you shouldn't be the one to put down others.
"Can all of them be dream theater?"
Them're fightin words my friend
So rather getting something original, we got more rehashed shit.
I think trans glutamate is literally Elmer's Glue.
isolate your mic from the table. I write this on every arcade stream you post, yet you must never see the posts.
If compression is used to boost the overall perceived volume of the recording, the bang will duck out (lower the volume) of the content for as long as the release is set to on the compressor.
..But dishonored was good?
I would direct you to my review of the game in question for about 9 million reasons why that isn't the case.
To be honest it looked like you were lumping the blink mechanic (an important part of the stealth gameplay) in with 'hobo skeletor'? ....Though as someone who's never played the original thief(s) it was enjoyable.
@@McFrager You should play the Thief games. They're just as amazing today as back in the early jurassic period when they released
Well Dishonored is inspired by Thief but not a total clone.
At least dark messiah was ok.
Can't deny having fun drop kicking barrels into enemies and cutting chandoliers down in the middle of sword fights
Dude this game was amazing. Stop hating. There was almost no SJW non sense in it either.
I don't get. It is a System Shock/Bioshock hybrid. Not the best maybe, but more than adequate. Why so much hatred? Do you prefer another annual first-person Call of Duty clone?
I've never heard someone over the age of 15 complain so much about a game they are playing before even giving it a chance.
Another game to be ruined by Bethesda. Boy I'm glad.
pretty lame game.
This game is an absolute insult.
I can't wash the taste of that Turok reboot out of my mouth.
This isn't supposed to be like that kind if reboot, it's more "hey we want to make Our own system shock game.... But we don't have the license" also if you were insulted by this, I'd love to see your reaction to prey 2 if it did come out as that had as much to do with prey 1 as star trek had to star wars.
Ike of Pyke Prey 2 was tangentially tied to the original game and went into a much more interesting direction
What's insulting about it? There is a good game here if you just give it a chance.
It would be a good game if it were anything like prey. If I want to play system shock, I'll go play some system shock. I don't look into stuff titled "prey" for my system shock fix.
Sword Knight and the original prey 2 was nothing like original prey, it was more mirrors edge with Boba fett style bounty hunting.
The Rageaholic GOD at least give me a nasty comment in a vid for typing all this shit out, but beyond that good stream.
I am sorry but what so political about this game? I heard it has good old school gameplay and Chris Avellone worked on this one, so why the politics? don't become your worst enemy.....
Arkane let everyone down with Prey. What a terrible, tired game.
Prey's the worst selling AAA game of 2017, so clearly most people don't like it.

Your sources don't provide sources, One is for UK sales not worldwide sales, Another is for Japan sales again not worldwide sales. I'm not debating or arguing whether those are facts or not but they do not coincide with your previous comments which are gross generalizations of the opinions of the masses for your own petty self validation.
