Why doesn't California get it together to have a light rail system, or some kind public transit? The traffic and the emissions are just terrible. I know we're not Japan, but can we have a speed rail from LA to SF?

That, and, more simply, she's a quarter of a *century* younger. At the end of one term, Barbara Lee will just be another octogenarian in Congress. Wish she had her time twenty years ago and we hadn't had Feinstein, but that ship sailed.
The one criticism to Katie Porter about a ceasefire doesn’t make too much sense. I believe she would push for it and vote for it once possible. But it takes more than one to pass which is indeed what makes it hard to actually happen. You want it immediately but you have everyone else blocking to deal with too. However, beyond foreign affairs, she is clearly fit, incorruptible, and speech skilled for both winning this and representing us in CA.

I respect Barbara Lee and think she’s much better on foreign policy but she’s in her 70s. IMO Porter seems like the choice. Schiff is insane on national security stuff, civil liberties and foreign policy, and incredibly corrupt. It’s a testament to how horrible the Democratic Party and the liberal donor class that he’s even in contention in a CA primary

I was actually surprised to see how many military corporations where among the top donors to Schiff. He is my Rep. in Burbank and I used to think more highly of him until I saw the way he reacted to the war on Gaza and looked into his donor base. I hope Porter or Lee win.

As a Californian who has been following this race quite closely, I would like to briefly offer my point of view. The first and most important takeaway of this race as a whole is that progressives _really_ need to start working together -- in Congress, of course, but also in elections. (In this respect, I applaud Ro Khanna's decision to not enter the race.) I share Cenk's fear that Barbara Lee and Katie Porter will split the progressive vote, and as a result we may end up with neither advancing to the general election. Ideally, one of them should drop out before Super Tuesday and endorse the other. I personally favor Katie Porter (primarily for her refusal to accept corporate PAC money and her incredible work in the House holding wealthy executives' feet to the fire), but I would gladly vote for either one. My prediction -- pure speculation, but based on my understanding of polling data -- is that if both stay in the race, the odds that Adam Schiff gets sworn in as our next Senator are 75%. If one drops out and endorses the other before March 5th, those odds fall to about 35%. The choice is a no-brainer; everything rides on whether progressives can (finally) get their act together.

Since Katie Porter is mediocre on Israel-Palestine and foreign policy, it would be best for her to step aside and allow Barbara Lee to consolidate the progressive voting block. Shiff has way too much money and support from the establishment. There's no way progessives can win as long as they are splitting the votes. Also, I do think we need at least one black female in the Senate.

Barbara Lee is to me just doesn’t have the whole package. Steve Garvey is what he was, an ex professional ball player. Katie Porter is winning me over! I was an Adam Schiff person because he represents my district. I like where she gets her founding from. Yet I’m still not sure! Time to look deeper into Schiff & Porter!
That is very well thought out, however, I would prefer my candidate to strongly take my position and not that of his "Sponsor", countering the will of his constituents! A Country Ruled By Oligarchs?

Since Katie Porter is mediocre on Israel-Palestine and foreign policy, it would be best for her to step aside and allow Barbara Lee to consolidate the progressive voting block. Shiff has way too much money and support from the establishment. There's no way progessives can win as long as they are splitting the votes. Also, I do think we need at least one black female in the Senate.
Barbara Lee was not as strong on climate. I wish Barbara Lee would step aside, although I admire her and if Katie wasn't running, I would vote for Barbara.
@@cherynenglish6561 Lee is very strong on climate. Porter was exceedingly friendly with Netanyahu and had nothing but positive things to say about him after her visit to Israel. She doesn't even support an immediate ceasefire. No, thanks! The difference in terms of foreign policy is huge and would have a meaningful impact in the Senate.
