Kozlov deserved boxer of the tournament. He deserved boxer of the tournament for last years World Junior Championships too. Two World Championships in a row that Kozlov doesn't get the award he deserves. He has one more year at youth level before stepping up to seniors. Hope he keeps improving. He has a very high ceiling.
Do you think Kozlov is better than Torehan? Torehan is named the best boxer in all the competitions he participated in. I think the judges like him too
Torekhan fans are obsessed with him lol. The fighter of the tournament is given to the fighter who had the best performances throughout the whole tournament. Torekhan did not have the best tournament. There were like 4-5 guys who performed better. He wasn't even the best Kazakh of the tournament. Kozlov, Boranbek, Rogozin, the tall Russian that won at 80kg, I believe, all had better tournaments. That doesn't mean Torekhan is not the most talented, he could be, but the fighter of the tournament is given to the best performer. Torekhan arguably lost his final, had a tough first half against the Uzbek in the quarterfinals, and looked okay at best in his first fight. He was more focused on showboating than actually doing clean work. They awarded it to Torekhan because there is clearly a lot of hype around him. I've never seen a kid get this much hype this early on lol. Which isn't a bad thing. I like that y'all supporting him. He's clearly a talent. He even just won the Kazakh nationals at senior level. BUT we also have to be fair and not biased. Personally, I think IBA gave it to him to please the Kazakh delegation. Like I'm very high on Kozlov, but I didn't like his performance anywhere as much as I did his performance at last year's World Junior Championships. The 2023 World Junior Championships is why I'm so high on Kozlov. I've been watching World Junior Championships for years now, and Kozlov had the best performance at a junior tournament I've seen from anyone at that age group. But I think he fooled (showboated) around too much at the World Youth Championships. Trying to be too flashy at times instead of being effective. I didn't like that part of his performance at these championships, but he still won all his fights clearly. He probably didn't even lose a round hence why I think he should have gotten the award, and he was probably in the best division with several continental champions and world championship medalists. But if Boranbek or Rogozin had gotten it, I wouldn't have been mad. But yeah, to bring back to my other point, Kozlov was more business mode at the 2023 World Junior Championships, which is what I liked, and I hope he goes back to that and stops all the flashy showboating. All this showboating younger boxers are doing is not a good habit.
@@letmeace__9612 Indeed, there were many boxers who participated well. Boranbek, Sanjarali, Ragozin, but Torehan's noise was higher than these. He is very popular in his homeland. Did you see his participation in the Kazakhstan championship among the kottas yesterday? He didn't leave any chance to the adults and he was again the best boxer of the competition. I don't agree with your opinion that Torehan lost in the final fight, he only lost in 1 round but in 2-3 rounds he didn't give his opponent any chance. How do you rate his chances at the senior level at the Worlds and the Olympics?
Hype (noise) does not win you the award. Performances win you the award. Kozlov, Rogozin, and Boranbek, to name at least three, all had better tournaments. None of them lost a round in the tournament. I thought he beat the Cuban in the final, but a lot of people thought the Cuban edged it. But Torekhan lost at least two rounds in the tournament. The first round to the Cuban and the first round to the Uzbek. But I think Torekham will do great. He'll probably win the World Championships and Olympics when he gets to them. Kazakhstan is great at developing their young talent. I think Russia struggles a bit more in doing that. I think Kozlov and Rogozin have a lot of potential, but I am worried that they won't get developed properly. Kozlov could be one of the best fighters in the world if he gets developed properly.
Platon Kozlov is the best Russian prospect since Alexei Tishchenko 🔥
