Naseef House Museum Balad Jeddah

Nasseef House or Nassif House (Bayt Nasseef)
is a historical structure in Al-Balad, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
As of 2009, it is a museum and cultural center which has
special exhibits and lectures given by historians.
Nassif House Museum’s construction began in 1872 on
old Jeddah’s main street called Suq al-Alawi.
The construction ended in 1881, and it became the
residence of Omar Nassif Efendi, who was not only a
member of a prominent merchant family but also Jeddah’s
governor at the time.
Years later, in December 1925, Abdulaziz Ibn Saud entered
the city and stayed at this house after the siege of Jeddah.
During his initial stays in Jeddah, Abdulaziz Ibn Saud used
the Nassif House Museum as a royal residence and
welcomed guests. Until 1975, the house remained under
the ownership of the Nassif family.
Located in the Old Town of Jeddah, Al Balad, the historic
Nassif House was constructed in the late 1800s for
Omar Nasseef Efendi, who was the governor of Jeddah
at that time.
The Nassif House is also called “The House with the Tree”
because it opens onto a square, where there is a neem
tree which used to be somewhat of a rarity and this was
the only one in Jeddah up until the 1920s.
The museum owes its Ottoman-style architecture to the
Turkish architect who came up with the initial design for
Nassif House. Despite going through several renovations,
the Nassif House museum still preserves its Ottoman
architecture.
There are two large Bay windows at the front side of the
house, spanning over two levels above the main door.
These windows have now become a staple of traditional
Jeddah architecture. The ground floor is raised because of
cisterns underneath it that store rainwater and keep the
lower floors of the house cool.
The museum’s central hall leads to the rectangular rooms
and stairs to the south. Many of its rooms consist of
artwork that dates back to the 19th century. The doors
and hallways boast Arabic calligraphy that was done
originally by Ottoman Turks.
Nassif House Museum exhibits a wide variety of artifacts
and objects from the region’s storied history. It has a
remarkable collection of several vintage photographs that
take the visitors on a trip to the past.
Home to several special and unique exhibits, it has 106 rooms,
all of which flaunt breathtaking artwork. It has numerous
wall-mounted displays that show ancient maps of the
pilgrim routes from various countries like Syria, Yemen,
and Egypt.

Pembangunan Museum Rumah Nassif dimulai pada

Museum Rumah Nassif sebagai tempat tinggal kerajaan
dan menyambut tamu. Hingga tahun 1975, rumah
tersebut tetap menjadi milik keluarga Nassif.
Terletak di Kota Tua Jeddah, Al Balad, Nassif House
dibangun pada akhir 1800-an untuk Omar Nasseef
Efendi, Gubernur Jeddah pada waktu itu.
Rumah Nassif juga disebut "Rumah dengan Pohon"
karena terbuka ke alun-alun, di mana ada pohon naem
yang dulu agak langka dan saat itu satu-satunya pohon
di Jeddah hingga tahun 1920-an.
Museum dengan arsitektur bergaya Ottoman berasal dari
arsitek Turki yang datang dengan desain awal untuk
Rumah Nasif. Meski telah melalui beberapa kali renovasi,
museum Rumah Nassif masih mempertahankan
arsitektur Ottoman.
Ada dua jendela besar di sisi depan rumah, terbentang
dua tingkat di atas pintu utama. Jendela-jendela ini kini telah
menjadi gaya arsitektur tradisional Jeddah.
Lantai dasar dinaikkan karena ada tangki air di bawahnya
yang menyimpan air hujan dan menjaga lantai bawah rumah
tetap sejuk.
Aula tengah museum mengarah ke kamar persegi panjang
dan tangga ke selatan. Banyak kamarnya terdiri dari
karya seni yang berasal dari abad ke-19. Pintu dan lorong
menampilkan kaligrafi Arab yang aslinya dibuat oleh
Turki Ottoman.
Museum Rumah Nassif memamerkan berbagai macam artefak
dan benda-benda dari cerita sejarah kawasan itu. Memiliki
koleksi luar biasa dari beberapa foto tua yang
membawa pengunjung dalam perjalanan ke masa lalu.
Rumah bagi beberapa pameran khusus dan unik, memiliki
106 kamar, semuanya memamerkan karya seni yang
menakjubkan. Memiliki banyak pajangan yang dipasang
di dinding yang menunjukkan peta kuno jalur haji dari
berbagai negara seperti Suriah, Yaman, dan Mesir.
