They probably know now, but how copper golemes work is that they will take something out of the copper chest and sort it with the other chest so if you have ores in one chest you just throw some more into a copper chest the golem will bring it to that ore chest but if you put an item into the copper chest that isn't in any of your chests it will pick the closest chest to put it into
