Thanks to a wise Mr. Kaiser, OP's husband didn't profit from their daughter's passing. Nor the grandmother. Those two knew going on with the party was wrong but went on with it. As though they were celebrating the girl's death with money sighs in their eyes. Those two got they deserved by getting no money but in deed debt instead. Possibly big trouble from loan sharks. Feel sorry for the mother, who had to go through it all without any support from those selfish idiots. Best for her is live well without them.

If the grandmother lives at any distance and never talks about her granddaughter then people in her circle might not even know that the child died. Obviously the grandmother isn't going into mourning for her.

Is Alyssa her child from a previous relationship? That's the only reason I can think of for his complete indifference and abysmal behavior towards his own daughter. If it was me both he and his mother would be completely dead to me and would never be forgiven. They would be safer never seeing me in person again if they disregarded our daughter/granddaughters funeral for a birthday party.
