Terrible Terrible Terrible husband and mother-in-law how could they be so selfish. They rather have a birthday party over the funeral of their daughter and grandchild. If the grandmother lives at any distance and never talks about her granddaughter then people in her circle might not even know that the child died. Obviously the grandmother isn't going into mourning for her.
Thanks to a wise Mr. Kaiser, OP's husband didn't profit from their daughter's passing. Nor the grandmother. Those two knew going on with the party was wrong but went on with it. As though they were celebrating the girl's death with money sighs in their eyes. Those two got they deserved by getting no money but in deed debt instead. Possibly big trouble from loan sharks. Feel sorry for the mother, who had to go through it all without any support from those selfish idiots. Best for her is live well without them.
