Man you have smashed this tune! I can sing along as the original goes coz all the chords are SPOT ON and your groove is TIGHT, you aren't stressed at all...amazing :) The Nightfly is one of my favourite albums of all time!
That is a very nice thing to say! Thank you. I have been trying to be back for ages; moving country takes up every bit of time! This is probably my favourite Fagen tune. Best wishes
FUCK YEAH! I've been trying to figure out the chords to this song for ages, and this video is a blessing sent from heaven thank you, man, seriously, much love
Thanks for showing us just how brilliant a composer/player Donald Fagen is. Meanwhile, we'll have a whip round and get you a shirt with matching cuffs!
Fantastic version of a fantastic song. So much tension and release in this song. The resolution when ‘the sun comes through the skyline’ is genius. Donald snatches us pretty quickly after that though. Ingenious writing. Would you consider doing a tutorial? Or a chord chart? Your playing is superb
Hey thanks very much, I really appreciate your comment... yes in fact I have transcribed my arrangement and it is part of my Patreon rewards. If it interests you have a look at patreon.com/logosthedestroyer... thanks again. David
Just curious, how many hours did you practice this before recording? Your ear for the exact chords is amazing! That F sharp over A chord is so WEIRD! (the bar after "the skylight..."). Love how you do the arpeggio on the 2nd verse for that chord!
Thanks for your kind words! Well I don't know how many times I tried before: I improvise around the basic structure as I play, so I hadn't exactly played this before... but some of the chords do take quite a long time to get right that's for sure. Nobody writes like Fagen
@@kristopherjensen2513 Yes super... I must say though if you are fairly heavy-handed, or play percussively, like me, it doesn't feel quite so good after around 18 months. But for the money it's a great piano that's for sure. The sound is much better than on my old Yamaha P-120S which cost me around £1100 if I remember rightly, technology has certainly caught up with price
@@logosthedestroyer You still sound excellent, man! Really beautiful playing, that’s so true to the original arrangement that we all love so much. It’s cool to see you doing another video. I remember watching your videos as a really young player and being so inspired and impressed. Glad to know at this point in my life and playing that I’m still just as impressed and inspired by your playing as I was many years ago! The chord voicings are just stunning

This arrangement is incredible!!! Will you please do Kulee Baba, Kind Spirit, and Second Arrangement demos? I beg of you...

Is that a Roland fp30?
Hi Kristopher, yes it is - but the sound is coming from Logic Pro on Mac.
@@logosthedestroyer nice. Just got an fp30 a few months ago. Isn’t the action great?
