I enjoyed traveling with you to Black Mesa, the high point of Oklahoma. You kept me interested to the top and back down. Good hiking with you!😊

Nice job. I lived in Kenton for many years between town and The Black Mesa. I hiked the mesa more times than I can count, but except for one time, always from the southside which is much shorter but a much tougher climb. Locals refer to the cholla cactus using the Spanish pronunciation where two l's are pronounced like a "y". For Boise City the e is silent unlike the place in Idaho. Spectacular country. Lots of bird lovers and rockhounds abound. Kenton gets Eastern, Mountain, and Western bluebirds. Wildlife is plentiful and the people, the ones that are left, are resilient, hardworking and friendly. Bit of trivia, there are 0 stop lights in Cimmaron County. Stars at night are spectacular! I currently live in Van Horn, TX and have hiked Guadalupe Peak, a real ball buster. Ha. Ha.

While your out there you can go vist the Lincoln Riley Memorial Higway...that last inch of highway 325 (most desolate higway in Oklahoma) headed west into New Mexico

Can you ride a bike up there? I should say 'may'. Oh, usually, presence of cholla is a function of over grazing.

I believe it's foot traffic only. I'm sure it was over grazed prior to becoming a nature preserve / state park
